We now have a large kitchen with an attached sitting/dining room. I'd welcome you in there and you could plonk yourselves down on the sofa or chose a comfy chair, or sit at the table if you prefer to be upright for a cuppa and biscuits. The table has a pale yellow oilcloth covering it. Between us the man and I clear/clean the kitchen as we go so its always a nice place to gather. The radio would be on, the cat might be occupying a chair and there'd be a half done crossword or sudoku puzzle in the paper on the table for you to finish. You could look at family photos on the shelves and a really eclectic assortment of paintings and photos on the walls. We decided we'd have a hotch-potch of all sorts of framed stuff from both our former homes on the walls when we co habited. There are plants in terracotta pots on the kitchen windowsill and a bunch of daffodils and a big set of old fashioned scales with brass weights in the dining part. Purely decorative dust collectors. You'll be able to see the kitchen from your chairs...and the worktops contain the microwave, cafetiere, kettle, tea and coffee jars, fruit bowls, toaster and shelves above for lovely bits of old china we've picked up over the years. A rack with hooks hangs from the ceiling and we have an assortment of pretty jugs hanging up there. The big Belfast sink is clear of crockery as him indoors tends to load the dishwasher as he goes. The teapot, under a cosy would still be warm from the last brew we made. The teapot rarely gets cold!
You'd all be made very welcome.
