On soop's behalf, I will post her usual welcome

Here we are again
Happy as can be
All good pals and jolly good company.
Never mind the weather
Never mind the rain
As long as we're together...
Whoops we go again.

WELCOME. Make yourselves at home flowers

Just this minute logging on. I shall take time to read through all the latest messages and return asap.
A photo to share of son and his lovely wife with the two newest members of the family - Mila and Teddy. Awww!

soop Sun 04-Mar-18 12:23:18

Galen Stay put! You are not as bright-eyed and bushy-tailed as us lot like you to be. The lack of fodder won't hurt for a while. You, being a medical person, will know what's best for you. So, missus, get thee back to the rudest of health just as soon as. x

Ann You NEED proper support. I feel that whatever suggestions we make are less than useful. Vent away! Be honest with whoever it is who visits. I'm so pleased that you have a kind and caring granddaughter. flowers

Awww! indeed soop - what a lovely photo.

So glad that Hattie is ok, Maw, and aren't your neighbours very kind? DBiL's neighbours very kindly took them to an art gallery in the middle of York on his birthday (Thursday last week in the snow) and then collected them later. Aren't people good?

Ann, lots of good, loving advice here. You can just opt out of the 'home from hospital' care package and provide your own - seems sensible. As anno says, you need to be taken care of too or you will end up ill and what would happen to DH then?

Galen, do you need to call 111. I know you know about these things but that's when it is other people. flowers

soop Sun 04-Mar-18 12:32:22

Maw I'm relieved to hear that you chickened out and won't be chancing driving on untreated surfaces. That's what I call - common sense. x
The story of the errant hook was scary. I too would have remained awake all night. All's well that ends well.

Alygran Welcome back. You've not visited the kitchen recently. I hope that you are keeping well.

JaneD3 We are very fond of Campbeltown. It's a friendly town.

CharleyG I second your sensible advice to Ann - write all your concerns down.

annsixty Sun 04-Mar-18 14:02:38

soop the love and pride of those new GP's shines out on that lovely photograph.
What a lovely family you have.
Although geographically apart, the new mums will have lots of fun and advice to share, they are very lucky.

Charleygirl Sun 04-Mar-18 14:10:43

Mila appears to have grown so much- young Teddy is minute in comparison. They are two little poppets.

soop Sun 04-Mar-18 14:11:08

Thank you, Ann xxx

soop Sun 04-Mar-18 16:20:53

Charleyg Those were our thoughts when we saw the photo. x

I'm about to ride the bike. The exercise puts roses in my cheeks. Hopefully I am beginning to get my leg muscles re-toned. As a young girl I did a lot of competitive swimming and life saving. I had proper muscles back then. I'm a tad flabby these days. wink

We remain snow free. All of you who still have too much of the stuff - continue to take care and keep yourselves warm. This too will pass.

Thank you for your company. I shall return in the morning. From 2pm until 5pm our electricity supply will shut down. Some work or other being attended to at the exchange in the village.

smile moon

MawBroon Sun 04-Mar-18 22:25:19

After all my worries about snow etc I had a really easy drive over to Stratford, only gettting lost- ish once, but going round the roundabout a second time got me back on track and I think nobody noticed hmm
DD and Flynn are installed in the tiniest little Victorian cottage near the church and only 10 minutes walk to the theatre. She has to go to London for a meeting about her next play however tomorrow shortly after 7 so I think I am in for interesting times.
The sad thing is that because of Paw’s illness I haven’t spent much time as I did with the other little boys at the same age , but I still got a lovely smiley welcome when I arrived.
But because “Mama” has been working away from home for the last two weeks, he is very clingy so there will be tears when she leaves.
Ah well CBeebies to the rescue I expect !
Hattie trotted into kennels without a backward glance by the way.
Such ingratitude!

Anniebach Sun 04-Mar-18 22:36:56

I want milk , I so want milk , just a saucer of milk would do , I just want milk to put in my tea.

Thank you

cornergran Sun 04-Mar-18 22:39:55

Enjoy your week maw you deserve it. Virtual milk coming your way annie. Sleep well everyone.

callgirl1 Sun 04-Mar-18 23:15:15

A lovely photo Soop.
Rain today, snow all gone, thank goodness.

Bellanonna Sun 04-Mar-18 23:40:17

A really lovely photo soop. Don’t they look proud?
Annie I wish I could get you some milk. Hope you get some very soon.

morethan2 Mon 05-Mar-18 07:59:08

That’s a lovely image to wake up tosoop If I lived near I’d bring you milk Anniebach it’s the little things that make life easier isn’t it. Thank you for the link kitty I’ve put things back in perspective now. I just felt a bit low when I first heard. Enjoy your time in Stratford with your familymaw I like Stratford. I haven’t been for a long time. The snow has completely cleared now but it’s a bit grey. Hope you all have a good day. I’ll put the kettle on for tea.

Charleygirl Mon 05-Mar-18 09:13:14

Maw I am amazed that Hattie went to the kennels without a backward glance- I think when she is picked up, like Flynn, she may be a bit clingy towards her mother.

You will enjoy this time with Flynn and he will get to know you better.

Annie are you short of milk because of the inclement weather?

Agus Mon 05-Mar-18 09:30:45

Internet connection was on the blink but we seem to be back in business. Still snowing here yesterday but rain overnight which means roads are cleaner and I can make it to hospital appointment in Glasgow.

What a lovely photo of the proud grandparents soop; their smiles say it all.

Hope you are on the mend Galen. So far, fingers crossed, I have managed to escape this awful virus. Trying to keep it that way as whenever I am shopping and in range of anyone coughing or sneezing, I run a mile!

Something to look forward to this afternoon as GD2 has requested Granny collects her from school. No matter what else I have to deal with, this little poppet running out to give me a cuddle helps to make all else just that bit more bearable.

Hope everyone has a good day, especially those of you dealing with difficult times.

NanaandGrampy Mon 05-Mar-18 09:32:36

Morning all !!

Seems like today is a day for wellie boots and umbrellas . The low lying snow is disappearing fast under the onslaught of the downpour. The trouble with the snow and then the rain is now all the issues with the roads are coming to light with potholes and such so it looks like yet another day indoors ! I'm beginning to feel like a mushroom !

Tesco's did make it through although the poor chap looked half frozen and had to make several attempts to get into the village via different routes . So hats off to Tesco's - the other emergency service :-)

ahhhh the infamous starched underwear incident !!! I was a young bride , with not a lot of house wifely experience and Grampy declared I didn't iron his shirts 'right' ! Not like his Mum did !! Cue - red rag to a bull. On my next foray into the ironing basket I ironed EVERYTHING ...with starch too. Hankies, towels, pants , socks . That day at parade every time he moved he actually crackled. After a day in underpants so stiff they stood up on their own- never a word has been spoken in the ensuing 40+ years about the quality of my ironing service :-)

You sound proper poorly Galen - feel better soon !

Ah Hedley Court Morethan I know a few people who have been through those doors. I can imagine how frustrating it must be for you as a Mum and for the young man - who no doubt is chafing at the bit to get back to his duties. Hope things improve for you both. No apologies necessary - that's what we're here for - a sounding board and a supporting arm ( even at a distance !)

Glad hattie didn't eat anything that would have needed a trip to the vet Maw . Our Sam is a total dustbin when it comes to food so I totally see where Hattie was coming from ( I feel like that sometimes too!!)

Lovely picture soop - you must be so proud x

Ann I'm so sorry to hear things are not going so well. I don't have much in the way of advice but I'm sure the advice you have already got is the best.

Anniebach having no milk is a pain ! I haven't had to use my emergency long life milk yet so can happily send you that :-)

Thought Id share a picture of the village under a blanket of snow !! It was pretty but I'm glad its going !!

Agus Mon 05-Mar-18 09:32:38

The roads may well be cleaner but I do hope they are clear too grin

soop Mon 05-Mar-18 12:14:47

N&G Thanks to your tale of the starched underpants, I've spluttered coffee on this 'ere keyboard. Now I have to be sure to wipe away before we lose our connection. Thank you for the chortle. Serves Grampy right!

Maw You did yourself proud. Yes, there may be a tear or two, but little ones soon cheer up and you'll have fun. Hattie may not have looked back. She will look forward to being collected and I bet she romps up to you.

Anniebach Our wee village shop ran out of milk. Folk from Tarbert were travelling to our shop because supplies hadn't reached their supermarket. Bloody cheek! Status quo has since been restored.

Agus I hope that your hospital appointment goes well. How far do you need to drive? It's a two and three quarters of an hour journey for us.

Anytime soon I need to do my ironing. Electricity supply disrupted between 2 and 5 this afternoon.

soop Mon 05-Mar-18 12:30:54

Teddy's latest photo.

Charleygirl Mon 05-Mar-18 13:01:19

soop please may I cuddle him? He is adorable. He looks as though he has put on a pound ot two or is it my imagination?

N&G in London one would never know how bad the weather was 3 days ago. It is clear here and I do not have any heating on.

Your DH was very fortunate he did not get the iron wrapped around his neck. If your ironing was not up to standard, he could always have taken over, I know that you would not have minded.

MawBroon Mon 05-Mar-18 13:12:09

So far so good but I am kn*ckered!
Mama got away OK but then littlestbfella fell, over the arm of his chair and landed on his head. Some tears, but he calmed down.
We have walked flipping miles to the playground across the river from the RS theatre - aggravated by coming across steps in awkward places - yes there is step free access, but they don’t warn you in advance. Plus I got lost but some very nice young (work) men helped me down the steps to the playground.
If I think Flynn is going down for a nap I clearly have another think coming. There is singing, babbling and occasional “Mama? “ and “Dada”?
The answer will probably be to go out with the buggy again (sigh) either the Butterfly Farm or the MAD museum (interactive and very popular with children)
And it’s still only 1o clock.
Hope you get some milk soon Anniebach so that you can have a proper brew
Such a cliché but this is exactly WHY we do not have babies in our sixties!

Anniebach Mon 05-Mar-18 13:32:09

Just like to say - I got milk ?

MawBroon Mon 05-Mar-18 13:58:23

Hurray!

PS Flynn has slept from 1 till now (nearly two!) Crumbs.

soop Mon 05-Mar-18 14:17:21

Yay! Good one, Flynn.

CharleyG grin

Electricity supply is still operating. I got all the ironing done. Now for a spin on the bike. Back later. smile
