Didn’t have a pud at all ??? Soop although strongly tempted by the Sticky Toffee Pudding, but in honour of St Patrick’s day DD and I had Irish coffees thus leaving room for champagne and birthday cake back here afterwards! And now they’ve gone home I can’t risk the champagne going off can I?

I've had a mere 20 minutes on the exercise bike and have rosy cheeks (facial and lower down)...now I'm off to read the paper, and a little later, enjoy a glass of well-rounded red wine.

Jane I 'm sorry to hear of the loss of your mum.
10 years ago my mum died just 4 days after my 60th birthday on 10 March so this week as I turned 70 the memories seemed very fresh.
Almost a year after mum died my

Lovely visit, if all too short, from the Birmingham family. They all got stuck into drawing and colouring as soon as they arrived (children DO love that don’t they?) then off to the pub for lunch. It was basic pub grub, fish and chips, scampi and chips but well done that is a treat in itself. Nothing “cool” nothing “cheffy “ but clean plates and happy children told me I’d hosed well!
Back here for champagne and cake and for SIL to watch a bit of the Twickenham match, DD popped into the churchyard to visit her Dad and then all too soon they had to be on their way.
Lovely though.
I might just carry on with the champagne as I have nowhere else to go, nothing else to do, so ??
But the gaping hole is back, mostly I think because we were missing Paw so much and he would have been so happy to see his eldest daughter, her husband and the little ones (7,6,3) who are growing up beautifully

Wow! I had finished my cooking and was hoping to watch the rest of the Scotland match - they were behind when I left it - but the b****y tv is stuck in Greg Wallace mode and I don’t know how to get him off!!! Nightmare! Someone wake me up! Glad to hear the Scots won though. Hope Wales do too.
I have just had a text from my son. I feel so sorry for him. He is stuck with wife and friends in a remote pub on the North York Moors in a howling whiteout. I asked if I should send a St Bernard, but he says that the food and the company are good, the log fire is roaring and the bar is open, so no thank you! He says if they are still trapped on his birthday next month, I can get the address for his card off the internet ?‍♀️.

Charleyg Ethan is my eldest son's youngest offspring. He's a gifted grandson. It was his eldest brother who was in hospital earlier in the week.

My condolences jane however much it is expected it is still a big shock. My own darling mum had dementia and was in a home. I went to see her on the Monday evening and she didn't even know I was there, the next day I had to go to work and at lunchtime had a call to say she had died. I've always felt guilty about not being with her when she died.
Snow here and very cold. 14 degrees yesterday and -2 today, only in GB !!

Condolences Jane flowers on your mother's death. I lost mine 35 years ago, and have now lived longer than she did. I still expect the phone to ring on a Sunday morning. Look after yourself, Jane and leave yourself time to grieve. (((hugs)))

Well done, Annie for grafting on his behalf. You should be proud of yourself. And yes, we have the ‘smelly white stuff’ blowing in and out on a freezing wind. Fortunately it is not sticking yet, but DH has stupidly decided to go to the football. At least he is making a concession and not taking the car.
I am making mushroom soup this afternoon with chestnut and porcini mushrooms, and probably a cake for tommorrow, but we have just had a bacon, lettuce and tomato panini with lashings of mayo, and if I ever have to have a last supper, that will be it ???.

Thank to Baggs and all of you who have given me your advice on how to cope with recurring UTI's. My rear end prolapse together with front end prolapse are to blame. I need to wear a sanitary towel all day and night. Such a bloody nuisance but not life threatening.
