On soop's behalf, I will post her usual welcome

Here we are again
Happy as can be
All good pals and jolly good company.
Never mind the weather
Never mind the rain
As long as we're together...
Whoops we go again.

WELCOME. Make yourselves at home flowers

I send my love to you, Jane on the death of your mother. As Annie says - she is at peace. flowers

Thank to Baggs and all of you who have given me your advice on how to cope with recurring UTI's. My rear end prolapse together with front end prolapse are to blame. I need to wear a sanitary towel all day and night. Such a bloody nuisance but not life threatening.

I've a rugby match to watch. I shall return in due course.

A lovely photo of our nineteen year old grandson. He's a remarkable young man.

Greyduster Sat 17-Mar-18 13:12:58

Well done, Annie for grafting on his behalf. You should be proud of yourself. And yes, we have the ‘smelly white stuff’ blowing in and out on a freezing wind. Fortunately it is not sticking yet, but DH has stupidly decided to go to the football. At least he is making a concession and not taking the car.
I am making mushroom soup this afternoon with chestnut and porcini mushrooms, and probably a cake for tommorrow, but we have just had a bacon, lettuce and tomato panini with lashings of mayo, and if I ever have to have a last supper, that will be it ???.

Greyduster Sat 17-Mar-18 13:17:07

One post behind again! A very handsome young man, soop. They are grown before you can turn around, and you are sad for the childhood left behind and proud of the men and women they become.

Anniebach Sat 17-Mar-18 13:20:20

He is worth it Greyduster ? . Two rugby matches to watch today , will have to wait until tomorrow to watch my one weakness 'Neighbours ' blush. That white smelly stuff , yuck

Condolences Jane flowers on your mother's death. I lost mine 35 years ago, and have now lived longer than she did. I still expect the phone to ring on a Sunday morning. Look after yourself, Jane and leave yourself time to grieve. (((hugs)))

annodomini Sat 17-Mar-18 13:22:25

Sorry flowers

annodomini Sat 17-Mar-18 13:23:05

OK - is it me or is it a problem with our emojis?

Sar53 Sat 17-Mar-18 13:24:58

My condolences jane however much it is expected it is still a big shock. My own darling mum had dementia and was in a home. I went to see her on the Monday evening and she didn't even know I was there, the next day I had to go to work and at lunchtime had a call to say she had died. I've always felt guilty about not being with her when she died.
Snow here and very cold. 14 degrees yesterday and -2 today, only in GB !!

JaneD3 Sat 17-Mar-18 13:26:15

Well done Annie - I am sure it means a lot to him that you would make such efforts for him.

soop Sat 17-Mar-18 15:41:46

I meant to add that your recent photograph is yet another winner. Well done.

Scotland beat Italy. Greg was, as usual, a star.

soop a lovely photo of your nephew- a handsome young fellow. Thanks for telling me the result- I do not understand the game so I do not watch it.

soop Sat 17-Mar-18 15:47:51

Annie You deserve a huge friendly hug for the time and effort you went to uncover your son-in-law-who-isn't's roots. flowers

soop Sat 17-Mar-18 15:49:54

Charleyg Ethan is my eldest son's youngest offspring. He's a gifted grandson. It was his eldest brother who was in hospital earlier in the week. smile

Greyduster Sat 17-Mar-18 15:55:37

Wow! I had finished my cooking and was hoping to watch the rest of the Scotland match - they were behind when I left it - but the b****y tv is stuck in Greg Wallace mode and I don’t know how to get him off!!! Nightmare! Someone wake me up! Glad to hear the Scots won though. Hope Wales do too.
I have just had a text from my son. I feel so sorry for him. He is stuck with wife and friends in a remote pub on the North York Moors in a howling whiteout. I asked if I should send a St Bernard, but he says that the food and the company are good, the log fire is roaring and the bar is open, so no thank you! He says if they are still trapped on his birthday next month, I can get the address for his card off the internet ?‍♀️.

MawBroon Sat 17-Mar-18 16:51:36

Lovely visit, if all too short, from the Birmingham family. They all got stuck into drawing and colouring as soon as they arrived (children DO love that don’t they?) then off to the pub for lunch. It was basic pub grub, fish and chips, scampi and chips but well done that is a treat in itself. Nothing “cool” nothing “cheffy “ but clean plates and happy children told me I’d hosed well!
Back here for champagne and cake and for SIL to watch a bit of the Twickenham match, DD popped into the churchyard to visit her Dad and then all too soon they had to be on their way.
Lovely though.
I might just carry on with the champagne as I have nowhere else to go, nothing else to do, so ??
But the gaping hole is back, mostly I think because we were missing Paw so much and he would have been so happy to see his eldest daughter, her husband and the little ones (7,6,3) who are growing up beautifully sad

MawBroon Sat 17-Mar-18 16:52:49

“Hosed” ? No, CHOSEN ! How can predictive text get things so wrong?

mcem Sat 17-Mar-18 16:53:49

Jane I 'm sorry to hear of the loss of your mum.
10 years ago my mum died just 4 days after my 60th birthday on 10 March so this week as I turned 70 the memories seemed very fresh.
Almost a year after mum died my
DGS was born on 12 March.
flowers

MawBroon Sat 17-Mar-18 17:07:18

mcem so your birthday is 10 March and your daughter’s is on the 12th?
My birthday is 13 March and DD1 is the 11th.
How to deflect attention from your own birthday or what?
(It caused no end of confusion in hospital as I had birthday cards as well as New Baby cards! )

MawBroon Sat 17-Mar-18 17:10:15

Sorry just spotted it’s your grandson.
But still grin

Do ducks have earwax?
How old are my feet?

She’s 4

cornergran Sat 17-Mar-18 17:41:20

So, do ducks have ear wax galen? Love that one. grin Our nine year old wants to know who decided people have to go to work. Not a bad question.

Sounds a lovely family day maw, that hole in your lives shows just how special paw was. Be kind to yourself this evening.

Your grandson is both smart and handsome soop, you must be very proud.

No white stuff here to speak of, just a few flakes, dare I say I’m quite disappointed as we had no need to go out. As it wasn’t snowing we felt the need to venture forth to sit by a fire and eat cake in a very nice cafe. Snow would have saved me from that. I also feel sorry for your son greyd, smile.

You are a star with the family research annie, I’m sure your efforts were very much appreciated.

Warm thoughts to everyone with a heavy heart today. Off to produce tea, goodness knows what though. It’s unlikely to be healthy hmm.

soop Sat 17-Mar-18 17:44:33

Scotland won! I'm a very happy bunny.

Maw I would choose fish and chips every time. Fancy food doesn't appeal. Did you have a hearty pud? If not, why not!

Galen grin

I've had a mere 20 minutes on the exercise bike and have rosy cheeks (facial and lower down)...now I'm off to read the paper, and a little later, enjoy a glass of well-rounded red wine.

No snow. Bright and chilly. Take care all of you lot who are having yet another dose of the white stuff.

Back with you tomorrow. smile moon

Greyduster Sat 17-Mar-18 17:47:00

corner ?.

MawBroon Sat 17-Mar-18 18:09:28

Didn’t have a pud at all ??? Soop although strongly tempted by the Sticky Toffee Pudding, but in honour of St Patrick’s day DD and I had Irish coffees thus leaving room for champagne and birthday cake back here afterwards! And now they’ve gone home I can’t risk the champagne going off can I?
(Do not expect much sense from this end for the rest of the evening!):
