Not sure I can do much dancing after a bacon sandwich and a generous slice of courgette and chocolate cake.....
kitty oh dear, just read your posts, a worrying time!
However we have a well stocked bar, and the facilities are clean and modern, if a little small( a row of gazunders behind a curtain) washed out every month....you can’t say fairer than that!
I doubt I'll be coming as I feel like a piece of chewed string! And noone has told me and Charley about the facilities and we are very refained!
Thank you for the welcome
We have gone to a great deal of trouble to give you a good party tonight laydees, so please do come over between 7 and
10 for some good clean fun ( ahem!)
Free drinks and food, and entertainment laid on ( if you are lucky)
All we ask is that you leave a comment in The Argy visitors book on the bar.
A very warm welcome to OurKid1 and Beavermist
The Argy Bargy Caff serve alcohol but not as us lot know it. The last time I dashed in for a hot toddy, I was given something that almost blew my knickers off. I had to retire to the powder room to get my breath back. Whatever it says on the bottle - ignore it.
kitty My goodness, you must have been shaken when Bertie needed to go to hospital. Thank goodness he recovered and was able to return home.
He has had the same thing before but it's scary. They don't call it asthma till they are 7/8 (apparently!) it hasn't been helped by being prescribed the wrong kind of inhaler. I think that has upset me as much as anything as I'm always saying how wonderful the nhs is! It is being so currently but his gp wasn't!
My goodness kitty that must have been a worry. Is he asthmatic or do they know what the problem was? Glad to hear he's feeling better now.
In desperate need of some tlc! Bertie was taken to hospital in an ambulance today with breathing difficulties! He seems fine now but has to stay in for a while to be monitored. He was upset that rhey didn't do the lights and sirens. Personally, I'm very grateful they didn't need to.
DH has now hurtled off to collect Persie from school!
Hello beavermist welcome to the kitchen.
Hi longtime lurker here. N&G. If your bathroom suite is white I think the white will go but I would accessorise using another stronger colour. You may find using a mood board helps.
Do you think the Argy-Bargy will do Dubonnet and Lemonade and chips in the basket? I'm not coming if not.
Anniebach Have you tried charity shops for jigsaws? Our local one checks each one for missing pieces and labels accordingly. I think Oxfam have an online shop.
GillT57 Ooooh! Chocolate beetroot cake. Yes please. Count me in.
It's been a mad rush of a morning/early afternoon so far. Keeping up with you lot is like trying to jump on an express train as it's travelling through the station. You leave me breathless. But I am really fond of every one of you. Had I opened the kitchen door and found not a single soul I would have been disappointed. Thank you.

If you visit us.....we will visit you next time.?
Yes, you are all warmly welcomed to come to The Argy anytime this evening, the bunting is up, Soop has left some home cooking ( so avoid it!
) we have cleaned up, and hvae hired The New Chippendales to entertain us.Wear whatever you like, thigh length boots, fish net tights, mini dresses, white stilettos etc.
Come in, order any drink you fancy ( it’s on the house) and park your bum on a bar stool.????
kitty I'm all of a whisper, marvellous news of a wee one in the making. I hope that all goes well and that we'll raise a toast to baby's arrival in October.
Marydoll is a real sport. I have acknowledged her kind invitation. As I shall be otherwise engaged, please do your utmost to put on a good show. I suggest that you take your own eats. When I last popped into the Caff, things were not quite up to our high standards. However, they are a decent crowd and all being well, the rozzers won't call by to check for cannabis. It's usually on the menu. So beware!
morethan I hope that your son's birthday treat is proper fun-filled.
granniequeenie I think that your most recent photo is one of your best. The light is beautiful.
NannyJan53 Yes please. I would enjoy a large slice of your fruit cake.
NonnaW As for your special courgette cake, I would certainly like to sample it.
Maw Good manners cost little and go a long way.
Greyduster Please keep us updated.
AnnieBach Buggerations a plenty! Our pal is a great fan of the jigsaw that doesn't resemble the picture on the box. She has a room full.
Bellasnana The birthday cake is a work of art.
Bellasnana what a lovely cake. I didn’t know about online jigsaws; I will google it. Sorry about all the problems Annie. Something you could do without.
Maw that would make me very cross.
N&G I personally would not like cream and white. Just my view though.
You may well moan, Anniebach. What a palaver. Have you tried doing online jigsaws? My sister used to pass the time with those during her illness. The beauty of them is that they don’t take up any space. Just a thought.
Plenty of cake here, leftovers from DGD’s birthday yesterday. I will add a photo. DD2 made the cake and it is delicious, despite the unicorn having eaten a chunk out of it
When I was bathing DGD, she confided in me that she hadn’t bothered to make a wish when she blew out her candles, since her wishes never came true. “Four times I wished for a sister, but it never happened”, she said. Bless her
Please may I groan?
Looked for ages for a table to do jigsaws on. Younger daughter mailed me end of last week - I have bought you a small table be with you Saturday . I ordered a jigsaw board to place on table . Looked on Amazon for jigsaws, very expensive. Put request on local selling site, kind person dropped eight off, four are 3,000 pieces, board for 1,000 pieces , phone call this morning, two ladies dropping off jigsaws! Opened leaf of table , no room because of sofa next to it. Younger daughter ,now fed up with me said - get rid of sofa you never sit on it, buy a chair. Now have to get back to selling site to look for s/h chair and a man with a van to collect chair and take sofa away. Wonder if I can sue physiotherapist who advised doing a jigsaw and so spend less time on iPad and sitting at the table would mean less time as a banana on my sofa .
Thank you x
Good morning, sorry I am late, been cleaning the bathrooms and now sitting here contemplating the cooker hood, so I would like a bacon sandwich ( nice and crispy, but not overdone) on a white bloomer, with a bit of mustard, and perhaps a slice of tomato if you have it? And a mug of coffee, thanks. Cold weather hasn't hit here yet, although last night was breathtakingly cold. Chocolate courgette cake sounds lovely NonnaW, and if you keep me a slice for later, I will bake a chocolate beetroot cake for tomorrow, equally odd sounding, equally delicious.
They should have at least acknowledged the donation, Maw.
In my experience they send a thankyou letter plus a request for more and an SAE.
Morning all, just popped into offer some chocolate courgette cake (don’t be put off by the courgette, it’s lovely, honest!). But please don’t touch the cupcakes - they are for Saturday night, after our family meal out, in celebration of not one but 2 sons birthdays. All sons are (allegedly) coming, plus DGD, a friend of DS2, plus my sister, nephew, niece and 2 infants, great niece & nephew. Not all can stay but we will be bulging at the seams. Looking forward to seeing them all.
N&G, I wouldn't match white and cream but would prefer cream. Sorry!!
