Here we are again
Happy as can be
All good pals and jolly good company.
Never mind the weather
Never mind the rain
As long as we're together...
Whoops we go again.

WELCOME. Make yourselves at home flowers

I don't think so Maw although he does put on a different face than he does for me.
I am going to go online and see if I can find a bargain in JL for myself.
I like mint velvet, then , if I do, I must start going out again to wear my things.

MawBroon Wed 28-Mar-18 10:08:54

I wonder if Mr Sixty enjoys the extra attention and the “visitor” aspect of the carers?
Paw always used to be absolutely charming to the carers (even if he could sometimes get grumpy with me!) and I think he liked seeing fresh faces - even under those circumstances.

annsixty Wed 28-Mar-18 10:04:19

Will you make me a cuppa too corner?
It is carers day today and it is all my H can talk about.
He has had his pyjamas off once and was made to put them back on.
It is still an hour before they are due and that is if they are on time, not very late as they were on Monday.
Well done on a better night's sleep morethan it is so much easier to face the day rested.
I join in the need for cuddles from Teddy and his cousin, my youngest was 8 last month and he has never been a cuddler.
Thankfully the 19 year old is.

MawBroon Wed 28-Mar-18 09:59:49

Miserable morning isn’t it? (Weather, not mood)
I am planning a lazy morning then taking a friend and her husband who has Alzheimer’s to see Finding Your Feet. He will enjoy the outing even if he may not have a lot of idea of what it is about and she and I will certainly enjoy the outing!
Bit naughty yesterday, Mint Velvet (a label I like) had some good reductions in John Lewis and I saw a really nice cowl neck jumper for half price (so I bought 2 - one red and one navy blushblush )
It can stay cold for another week!

cornergran Wed 28-Mar-18 09:53:04

Morning All. Its falling down. I should be doing the admin, I should, I should, I should. hmm.

Pleased you had a better night morethan. I'll have a cuppa and then I will do the admin, I will, I will. I'd better, Mr C is cleaning, the deal being he did that and I concentrated. Oops. grin

annodomini Wed 28-Mar-18 09:33:49

soop, Teddy looks as if he already has quite a personality. You can often tell from an early age. My 13-year-old GS is a case in point. The day he was born, I looked at him and thought, 'You are a joker, aren't you!' And he is! I wonder what his April fool joke will be this year.
I don't often have trapped wind but if I do, I find it comforting to lie on my tummy. I always have Gaviscon Advance and Ranitidine at bed time to combat reflux.

Charleygirl Wed 28-Mar-18 09:19:44

The heavens have opened here and the men are beavering away at my front path and my neighbour's (two doors away) rear garden finishing the paving there and about to lay turf. The boss discovered to his cost that I am not the little woman indoors happy to wait without anybody telling me what is going on. The only reason I did not tell him and his firm to "take a hike" was because their work is superb.

The heavens have opened but the men are working because I suppose they need the money having taken yesterday as a day off they cannot take the remainder of the week off.

morethan2 Wed 28-Mar-18 08:43:46

Morning all, I’ll put the kettle on. I slept much better and the tummy is calmer. I think it was a mixture of stress, chocolate, wine and eating exotic food at the reasturant that evening. I should ring my own daughter today but she is so draining to talk to I can hardly bear it. Nothing seems to help her and I’m exhausted from 22 years of trying. The weather is miserable here, grey and damp. On the upside Its my birthday this weekend, I’ll be able to spend quality time with the grandchildren who finish school today rather than homework and school run and I’m going on holiday in April so I can start a countdown. Hope you all have a good day.

cornergran Tue 27-Mar-18 19:48:07

Evening All. A damp but very chilled out day, just wandering doing not much at all, the sun shone for oh, about 10 minutes. Didn’t matter smile, *Ann’s’ advice is often reiterated by our neighbour, a very active and fun 91 year old.

jane and morethan the insomnia thread is still there. I put ‘insomniacs not so anonymous’ in the search box and up it came. It’s not been used for a couple of weeks, I just hope neither of you need to access it. Tonight may be a bit more relaxed morethan, routine or not anything medical with your daughter in law is bound to trigger tension.

That expression speaks of an enquiring mind and yes, wind also. He is a little dear soop. As Charley says he is very alert. Is it me or do babies seem so much more alert now? Although I’m sure you are the most welcome of visitors the care home afternoons sound to be gruelling at times. Thornton’s chocolates? There would be a riot here if Mr C hid a box grin.

Asking those boys to be pageboys could be a mistake, n&g, they will surely steal the show smile. Your garden project sounds fun, I love anything like that. Let me know if you need help and I’ll be there with my best gardening clothes.

How’s the tooth now kitty? Are you allowed to mention it at home? I’m absolutely certain the balloons will do the trick in the morning, big smiles all round.

Seriously flagging now, hope at least half of this has made sense. Hugs to anyone sad this evening.

Charleygirl Tue 27-Mar-18 19:23:49

N&G I love seeing photos of those smiling boys. They just love life.

My first thought also when I saw soop's photo of Teddy was that he was suffering from trapped wind. He is so alert for such a young baby.

I will be having yet another early night because for me there is zilch on TV. Tara of course has beaten me to it but I have not had supper yet.

morethan2 Tue 27-Mar-18 17:39:15

I’m sorry for your loss Bellasnana and I hope there’s an improvement in your DGD we love them so very much so it hurts if they are hurting. Lovely baby soop and your boys are lovely N&G My DiL was just having her regular heart scan, apparently her cancer treatment can damage the heart so it’s scanned every 3 months. We chatter about everything but her illness. This morning it was about the wind. At least it made her laugh. Her paternal grandfather died on Friday in the same hospital and she spent all last week with him until the very end. She jokes the hospital trust will start charging her rent because she’s there so much. I had a little sleep but it makes you feel worse doesn’t it. I watched old episodes of ER this afternoon so a young George Clooney cheered me up a bit. Good evening all.

JaneD3 Tue 27-Mar-18 17:32:06

I can’t find the insomnia thread any more either Morethan. I thought it was me being dense!

soop Tue 27-Mar-18 17:31:02

More lovely photos of the boys, N&G They have winning smiles.

A bit of a sad care home visit this afternoon. When I first started a regular Tuesday visit, some three plus years ago, there was a group of five ladies who sat together and shared in sing songs and plenty of blether. Today, just two of those five are alive. M's sister died last week. We held hands and M reminisced.

Our friend has picked up her new car. New hip. New car. She's truly feeling like a new woman. Guess what...she has given us a super box of Thornton's chocs. I have eaten three!!! MacSporran is hiding the box right this minute. wink

Goodnight from me. I shall return after ironing duties. Take good care of yourselves. smile moon

NanaandGrampy Tue 27-Mar-18 17:14:51

Afternoon all !

What a difference a day makes. Gone is the blue sky, sunshine and warmth from yesterday to be replaced by rain, grey skies and a drop in the temperature !!

Lovely trip to the garden centre yesterday and IF the sun comes out tomorrow we're off to a different one tomorrow. We have arranged for a landscape designer to come and help us plan our garden but I think we will be doing the actual work ( by we , I do of course mean Grampy!!)

No Ann its ok Grampy was not in the hump under the flooring suggested by Maw although it was touch and go for a while. He is sat in his new chair in the orangery snoozing reading his book.

Sorry you slept badly Morethan is an afternoon nap a possibility ?

Kitty balloons make everything alright - Persie will love it. Our eldest daughter started a tradition when the kids were little of blowing up 100 balloons for every year for their birthday. At 1000 for 10 years --- that tradition was abandoned !!!!

I am so sorry Bellasnana that you miss your sister so much . I hope your better memories of her carry you through. As for worrying about the little one, well that never stops does it :-(

I suspect that is Teddy's trapped wind face soop lol we all have one !!! smile ! But he is a little cracker isn't he ?

Jackson went to school today as a King as they have been studying Kings and Queens all month ( I shan't mention that elsewhere in case he gets a roasting from the die hards as a royalist [laugh] !!) but thought Id share his picture with you all.

My other picture was of the little boys delight at being invited to be page boys at a family wedding although I suspect the delight was more for the sweeties than the actual invitation !!

Bellasnana Tue 27-Mar-18 12:25:47

Thank you, dear soop.

Teddy is just the dearest little chap. I would love to cuddle him. He’s very alert for such a young baby, bless him.❤️

soop Tue 27-Mar-18 11:53:08

Dear Bellasnana I hate it when you are sad. I can understand how your sister's absence from your life has left a huge chasm. You were very close. You can always send a private message in respect of your concerns for Bella. flowers

The latest photo of Teddy. One month old! Amazing expression etched on his lovely little face.

Bellasnana Tue 27-Mar-18 11:27:05

It is rare that I allow myself to indulge in shedding tears, but today has me in floods. My lovely eldest sister would have turned 73 today if fate hadn’t had other plans for her. I miss her desperately.

Also on my mind is DGD aged 7, who is not a happy little girl. I can’t go into details on here, but I can’t sleep for worrying about her.

On a lighter note, I had to take my car for a service today so came home on the bus. A kind young lady gave me her seat. Must be really looking my age now, as well as feeling it.

Sending (((hugs))) to all who are feeling miserable, for whatever reason.

kittylester Tue 27-Mar-18 11:05:30

I've had that a couple of times Ann and have thought I might die! It is horrendous. I think I posted on GN for help. Keep hold of your happy memories.

Morethan, I hope your news continues to be good.

Enjoy your day out corner - and don't forget the wellies.

I love the thought of a very kindly looking baggs, handing out deadly cookies. We will have a proper arsenal soon - legs of lamb and cookies - what next?

We have Bertie and Persie over night as their Mummy is going for a scan at 9.00 am tomorrow so I may have exciting news to tell you again tomorrow. Tomorrow is Persie's 5th birthday so we have bought lots of balloons to make up for not opening her presents until she gets home.

I hope all your bulbs flourish Maw and make visits to paw's grave uplifting and not so sad in future years. I am following Annie's Holy Week thread and feeling quite sad despite not being a believer - that has me baffled.

soop Tue 27-Mar-18 10:58:11

morethan2 You have my sympathy. Trapped wind is a blighter. You will be feeling totally washed out. Maw's advice is sensible. My thoughts are with your daughter-in-law. sunshine

Maw Snowdrops are wonderful, inspirational, wee flowers. They stand proud during the roughest and toughest of weather conditions.

annsixty Wise words. I think that you are amazing. You have my respect. flowers

annsixty Tue 27-Mar-18 08:18:58

TMI I know ,but I suffer from the trapped kind, mostly when I am very stressed . I carry Windeeze in my handbag and at the side of my bed. It is really painful with spasms and has ruined several days during holidays and weekends away in the past.
I wish you well with that and all the very best to your Dil, morethan

cornergran Tue 27-Mar-18 07:58:16

I’m lucky morethan, many a sleepless night but not with internal wind which is oh so horrid. Good advice from maw, definitely look on the acquisition of every available remedy as insurance, once you’ve got it you won’t need it. Wishing your daughter in law well for today, drive carefully. Hope you can relax later. flowers and a nice brew.

MawBroon Tue 27-Mar-18 07:50:23

Oh dear morethan missed you. It is a horrible way to spend a sleepless night. Is it worry? I hope that it at least eases as you are out and doing things, but get yourself some Gavisvon/Rennies/Ranitidine, whatever works for you in readiness for further indigestion which will then, hopefully NOT happen.
Hoping all goes well today flowers

morethan2 Tue 27-Mar-18 06:33:54

Morning all, especially *Maw &Annsixty who I know are having a hard time of it. I’m in the kitchen early because I was actually looking for sympathy on the insomniacs thread but I can’t find it anywhere. I’ve been up since three with the wind, not the lovely kind thrashing at the windows making you feel safe n cosy, the other type. It’s not worth going to bed now because I’m taking DiL to hospital for a scan at 8.30 so I’ll need to leave here at 7.30 Hope I haven’t put you off your breakfast. My eyes feel gritty, I’ve got a headache and the rumbling is on going. Hope you all have a better day than I’m going to have.

annsixty Tue 27-Mar-18 01:10:53

Corner the day will come when you can't just take a day for yourselves, seize every opportunity while you can.
No-one can take the memories you make away.
Well actually something can, I realised as I typed those words, but probably not for most of us.

Bellanonna Mon 26-Mar-18 22:36:03

Maw life is very sad for you. I wish I had the right words.
I know you enjoyed planting the snowdrops but I felt quite sad reading about it. Keep posting when you feel really down. X
