There has been some discussion about suffragettes and women winning the vote but I think that the suffragettes imagined by many people are much less violent then the real thing. Suffragettes were arsonists, they set off bombs, they burned down houses, they poured caustic material into post boxes. It was purely by chance that no-one died.
