Westiegran, I remembered the verse, but I don't ever remember hearing it sung.

I think I read it in an old children's book, meaning one that had belong to my father or his sister when I was a child, so I suspect you need to ask someone who had older sisters born in the 1920s,

Hope someone remembers the tune for you.

Thanks for the "NObody loves a fairy when she's forty" it brought back memories. Tessie O'Shea was so talented. Such a pity she is forgotten.

Ooh, I had a beautiful book, with lovely illustrations, and 'A fairy went a-marketing' was one of my favourites.
I liked her kissing the mouse's silken ears, thanking it and letting it go. smile

This has got fairies and gossamer. I don’t think it’s the same poem, though.

No, never heard of that one Westie so can’t help.
The only fairy one I know is:
Up the airy mountain,
Down the ferny glen,
We dare not go a hunting
For fear of little men.

I learnt this song at school when I was 4 in 1965.It came to me and I sang it for my daughter today and remembered the whole thing straight off! She said I should look it up, and this is the only place I have found reference to it!

???
Just a tad inappropriate but I had great fun listening to it ?
Thank you very much for the laugh you gave me.
I think that song might stick in my mind for the rest of the day annsixty. ?

I can't with that I'm sorry to say.
Is it inappropriate to teach her, "Nobody loves a fairy when she's forty"?
Have I lowered the time somewhat?

I hope you get a sensible answer.?

Can anyone remember a song with these lyrics-

I’m a fairy dressmaker,
busy all day long,
And as I am sewing I sing a fairy song
Fairy threads of gossamer,
Gossamer so fine
For the queen of fairyland
Queen Caroline

I learned it as a very young child at primary school. Many moons ago. I have searched the Internet for a recording but can’t anything about it at all ?
My DGD asked me if I knew a song about fairies to sing to the fairies in my half constructed fairy garden and the only one I could come up with t he time was ‘there are fairies at the bottom of my garden’. This wasn’t the most child friendly song and the recordings online are hilarious.
I wracked my brains for a few days and eventually out of the cobweb files in my brain came the above song. Not being the world’s best singer ? I thought I had nothing better to do than google it. I have came up with a complete blank.
Plenty about an Australian TV character wit the same name but zilch, nada, nothing about my particular ditty.
Could it have been a verse from a song about fairies with different jobs?
This is my last resort and I just wonder if any of the ladies on here, of a certain age, could help me with this dilemma which quite frankly frying my brain ?
