callgirl my DH is not a fan of cheese scones either. He hates anything he can’t put jam on, so I have promised him some sweet ones, but he won’t get them today! I did not get the thumbs up from GS either. He loves cheese but will not have it “in” anything. He was polite enough to try one, but declined it after not much more than a nibble!
Chaos it is the best rise I have had on scones for a while but it may be a flash in the pan!

Ann I am pleased you found another care home for your DH’s respite, and hope he settles there so that he can go again to allow you to recharge your batteries. We are having continuing difficulties with DH’s sister and are wondering how much longer she can live alone. It’s very worrying.

Not another baby this time, but DGS1 who is 8 has been chosen to dance in the Royal Ballet “Nutcracker” at Birmingham Hippodrome this Christmas!
I am beside myself with granny pride and excitement.

Another crisp bright start today.

Great pictures GQ I love these days for photography , Ill add a couple taken yesterday. I am still struggling to take one of those wonderful close up pictures of the full moon , mine still come out like a grey blob !! Now sunsets I have got down to a fine art !!

Today we have moved on from owls- Jackson sent me a text ( I love that he can now read and write well enough to do that and asked me if I had any books on Antarctica as the library didn't have any!! I don't but thank goodness for Amazon ! I'm amazed at the variety of topics a 6 year old is exposed to.

Marvellous news maw have you purchased tickets yet?? We could get a coach load of grans to accompany you !!

Its all about the crafting today. I have a Halloween Babygro to do, and 2 Halloween t shirts and a bag for a bottle of champagne we are dropping off as a thank you tomorrow when Sam goes on his holidays.

Hello the kitchen!

I was all organised for the collection of two brown leather sofas by the British Heart Foundation this morning. We are having a new suite delivered on Thursday so the timing was perfect.

However, I have just had a phone call to say their van has broken down and can they come on Saturday morning instead? DH is fizzing as he does not cope well with let downs like this and especially as he will be out with his bike club on Saturday so I shall be left to supervise the removal (which will be difficult as space is not extensive!). And of course, all provided their van is fixed in time!

Please may I have a quiet sit down and a cup of restorative tea? (Restoring the equilibrium here has taken it out of me!) I might manage a warm croissant and apricot jam too if encouraged to do so!

Morning all - I've just had second breakfast of toast and coffee - it doesn't matter that I ate the first one at 6am I was hungry and have to go to the dentist at lunchtime so don't want to pass out!

Gaga I feel for you - are you able to stack the old suite on top of itself to make more room? The BHF is a great organisation and the collection service is very good. At one point a couple of years ago we had 6 sofas in our house waiting for them to come and pick up 2 we were donating as well as other furniture. I also gave them the lovely Schreiber dining room suite my mum had lovingly looked after for years telling me it was still worth what they paid for it - of course no one wanted it sadly.

Nonna your husband sounds like mine - he likes nothing better than drawing out plans and occasionally has even done the furniture to scale to make sure it fits. He drew up the entire bungalow on CAD before we bought it to decide what we could alter - kept him quiet for hours Credit to him though as the plans have worked well.

Its so cold here this morning - I've gravitated to the thick tights again so autumn is definitely here.

My S's family have two Chihuahas and think the female may be pregnant, dont ask, they are rescued from an unstable family member.
I am wondering whether to take a puppy if she is.
I do think they are like little rats, but I know I would love it if it was mine.
It would need very little excersie and I could manage what it needed.
We shall see.

That might be a nice idea Ann although they are so small you would have to be careful not to trip up over it.

I just remembered something funny which my grandson in NZ has said. He had found a book on gems in the assessment centre he was in a few weeks ago and told his mum he really wanted it. She asked if I could get it for him for his birthday (5 tomorrow) so I got that and other stuff and sent it out to him along with all the Egyptian related items she had ordered for him (Amazon don't deliver over there). Anyway he'd had his party early on Sunday and was thrilled to bits with everything especially the book but had asked him mum if Nana had stolen it from the nice lady's room Of course she had to explain that Nana knows everything and that more than one copy of a book is made.

Writing that down has concentrated my mind clearly, of course I can't have a puppy.
One, I am too old
Two , it would probably trip my H up
And three, one incontinent person in the house is more than enough.

ann I have been so up to my eyes with visitors that I have got all behind. I noticed the posts about the new respite you have booked so have been trawling back and there you are! So pleased for you. We really do need these milestones to aim for and to do the countdown. I hope it is as good as the last one so that you will both be comfortable about it. Hope the holiday benefits are still carrying you through, keep looking at your photos as that really helps.

N&G what lovely photos! Was the sunset one taken during the recent harvest moon? Himself pointed out the lovely moon to me the other night and today showed me an amazing photo in his newspaper of a huge moon over London (I assume) with all the skyscrapers in the foreground. Quite startling. I prefer your very tranquil scene as I don't manage anything startling nowadays! This is one of those times when I tell myself to get on a course for learning how to do all those sorts of things so that I can share things too.

aggie we have put our bedroom heating on for the mornings and, as you say, it mskes such a difference. Himself was a bit superior over the hottie I had started making for myself until I made one for him and now he asks if I have done them yet! So nice and cosy and helps to get off to sleep.

I have been so tired with visitors that I just couldn't sleep which meant I was even more tired, such a viscious circle to get trapped into. We have been 'mucked out' by (a now recovered and germfree) supergirl who came yesterday and has planned out her jobs to be done for our next visitors, such a treasure! She said she couldn't tell thst she hadn't been for a fortnight so I wasn't sure what she meant by that. Perhaps she had geen dreadimg what she would be faced with or else we had been very good!
I know it would be helpful to get some things cooked in advance and put them in the freezer but I am too tired to get it sorted out in my mind never mind actually doing it so that is very frustrating. We had lots of apples to use so some kind of puddings perhaps, any ideas which are easy to do but more impressive than crumbles? They do all love crumbles so perhaps easier to stick to those. I used to be decisive but now I am not so sure!

I am pleased to report that DH's leg is much improved and although the skin is very fragile all the breaks and fissures have closed up. Not a thing of beauty but so much better and a great relief all round. Himself is quite cock-a-hoop saying that he knew it would be fine but even that is an indication that he was every bit as worried as me or he wouldn't have agreed to see the gp.

Going to have my hair cut and blowdried this afternoon so it is naturally very windy although dry. I am so organised that I have booked my next two appointments as well so that takes me through to 2019 - how impressive is that!?

I went to eye infirmary this morning about the ulcers in my eye . They are improving however the doctor said I should go to my doctor as he felt I had all the symptoms of wild flu . Just wondered if anyone else had ever had Wild flu ?

It’s 10 years ago last weekend since we moved into this house. The gas fire died a few weeks ago, there is an ongoing saga about its replacement! Last week the conservatory roof was letting in water (again), this morning the the pilot light in the gas oven disappeared and seems to have no intention of coming back. This afternoon the little lever that operates the plug in the bathroom sink stopped doing it’s job. I’m a bit scared to touch anything else, there such a thing as 10 year itch for houses?

The postman brought me a lovely surprise this morning. A very dear friend in Scotland visited Kintyre last week, was in the church at Clachan, saw the calendar of Kintyre scenes that she knows that I love having, and bought one and sent it to me. Isn`t she lovely? Yes Soop, the same friend who contacted you! I just called her to say a quick thank you, but we talked for nearly an hour!
I hope that you`re feeling better by the day Soop, when is your trip?
