I was totally extravagant this year and forked out (albeit in a sale) for a soup maker and a robot lawn mower. They have turned out to be the best two gadgets I have ever bought.
No gadgets as such bought this year if I remember rightly but a DAB radio. We live so far out in the sticks that FM radio reception is terrible, especially in the kitchen.
However, DAB reception is proving to be patchy although it's lovely and clear when it does come through.
Mind you, I've mainly used the bluetooth function on it to listen to the BBC via my laptop. Great sound quality.
I bought a stainless steel pastry maker. Cost less than £10 but has been used loads as I hate getting pastry under my nails when I make it by hand. Weird I know!!
