Never worn a beret before, but saw a pretty one in a charity shop today and went for it. It kept my ears warm on the walk home and I felt quite good - ‘til I got home and husband laughed.......

Lisagran, it’s very pretty. Wear it with panache, and if it keeps your ears watm, all the better.

It's a lovely beret, and it suits you. Pity I can't say the same about me. I just look silly in a beret.

Jalima1108 Fri 14-Dec-18 17:55:18

Don't tell lemongrove grin grin grin

ps I've got one as well
Yours looks lovely (not so sure about mine!)

EllanVannin Fri 14-Dec-18 17:56:59

I used to have a lovely rabbit fur beret until the dog I had worried it and left it in tatters. I rather like them.

Lisagran Fri 14-Dec-18 18:03:54

Jalima - why can’t I let Lemongrove know?

I bet you look fine! I’ve fiddled with mine - at certain angles (and if you squint !) it looks ok, but it just has to drop down a bit and I look as if I’m wearing a tea cosy grin
And before anyone says it - yes it is all a bit daft - but I woke up feeling tearful for no reason, then had a cr*p morning, so, hey ho

BlueBelle Fri 14-Dec-18 18:32:34

I read that as ‘today I bought a ferret’

Lisagran Fri 14-Dec-18 18:38:00

BlueBelle tchgrin

HootyMcOwlface Fri 14-Dec-18 18:42:36

I like your beret Lisagran. I wish could wear one - I have a big moony face and look absolutely frightful in a hat, so I only dare wear one in a blizzard! grin

Marydoll Fri 14-Dec-18 18:45:51

It's lovely, Lisagran. I always thought hats of any kind didn't suit me, but at the Edinburgh meet up on Wednesday it was perishing, walking around the Christmas Market, so I wore one.
Actually it didn't look too bad. Well that's what I'm telling myself. grin

Looks great, Lisagran!

Lazigirl Fri 14-Dec-18 18:53:03

I have a maroon one and feel very chic. Imagine myself as Diane Keaton..........

BBbevan Fri 14-Dec-18 18:55:06

My gran always wore a beret. I look just like her in one. So no thanks

Greyduster Fri 14-Dec-18 19:17:47

I think it’s rather pretty, Lisagran. If you like it wear it. If your DH continues to laugh but him on short rations! I haven’t worn a beret since I was in the Army!

Nandalot Fri 14-Dec-18 19:18:10

It’s lovely and you look great.

Lisagran Fri 14-Dec-18 20:12:49

For you BlueBelle tchgrin

Buffybee Fri 14-Dec-18 20:17:41

I think that it looks lovely Lisa, it's quite a modern style of beret and suits you very well.
Ignore your Dh!

NfkDumpling Fri 14-Dec-18 21:11:14

Why did DH laugh? It looks fine to me. Is he still your DH or just the H?

Lisagran Fri 14-Dec-18 21:36:02

I think, to be fair, he was just surprised to see the hat, and laughed in a nervous way! We’d walked into town together (when obviously I wasn’t wearing a hat), then he went home before me, so just surprised. He quite often says I look nice, so I think I’ll stick with DH tchsmile

callgirl1 Fri 14-Dec-18 22:24:46

School put me off berets for life. We had one as part of the school uniform, in bottle green.

Lisagran Fri 14-Dec-18 22:32:19

Ooh, callgirl1, I’d forgotten about school berets - we had blue ones

Bathsheba Fri 14-Dec-18 22:51:16

I tend only to wear hats when it is particularly cold (as it was today when we went into town to do a bit of Christmas shopping).
The thing is, I always think any pull-on hat looks clumsy on me with my glasses, but if I take them off I'm blind as a bat grin

maytime2 Sat 15-Dec-18 11:08:00

I always used to say that wearing a hat/cap made me look 10 years older. Now that I'm in my seventies I look old anyway, with or without a hat, but I still only wear one when it's very cold.

oldbatty Sat 15-Dec-18 11:41:10

I wonder if a plain silvery grey one might suit your colouring better?,

KatyK Sat 15-Dec-18 12:15:08

I think it looks lovely. Hats really don't suit me. Mind you, last time I wore a woolly hat, I was chuffed when DH said I reminded him of someone on TV - until he added 'Freddie 'Parrot Face' Davies' . Cheek!
