I hate to say it but he may have exacerbated the OA with his dancing around over the Christmas period. He forgot temporarily he is over 29. I hope the painkillers kick in soon and he is up and about again.

First and foremost...A massive, heartfelt thank you to Mamissio and Luckygirl for intervening and making a significent breakthrough in the long and sorry saga of Mr and Mrs Panache. Thank you from the bottom of us lot's hearts. And breathe. Phew! in abundance.

Charleyg Ha! No wonder the wretched thigh-high boots were so inexpensive. I have checked. You are right...the left one appears to be blest with a stiletto heel, and the other, is a cuban heel. Is it any wonder that I fell around the Argy Bargy and had to be scooped up several times and be re-seated on top of that tall bar stool. I knew that it wasn't for over imbibing on the poteen (whatever that is, I'd rather not know.)

Dear ann, the staff at the care home are doing their best to keep a beady/caring eye on your husband. Far better that he is being monitored by staff whose job it is to be watchful. As for the coming year. I hope for each and every one of you that it is kind. I'm not interested in prosperity, we have sufficient, although we are far from wealthy. Good health is the most precious gift. That and peace of mind.

A little later, wMacSporran and I will raise a glass of cheer to our family and friends and you lot are included in that friendship list. You are special peoples...as Torben would say.

After the care home visit tomorrow morning, I shall pop in to exchange an enormous (((group hug))).

Great news Panaches both and a Happy New Year

White Shire Horses? Well I never. Must admit I always had a yearning for a white stallion but my steeds were decidedly bright or dark bay plus a prancing little madam Connemara/Arab X of the most delightful grey hues. One of my 'moments' in life was running along a beach in Andalucia when a guy galloped through the surf bareback on an Andalucian followed by a string of riderless, un-tacked stable mates. I must have stopped and had a look of wonder on my face as when they returned he stopped and asked if I liked horses. I replied in the affirmative and he said if I was on the beach next morning he would let me have some free tickets to a dress rehearsal at the Spanish Riding School. Yeah right I thought ........ Readers (too much Austin methinks) he was indeed there - and myself and 6 friends sat through a most amazing performance a few nights later.

I read your post with a degree of relief Panache I think you are absolutely right. There comes a time in life when you have to admit it is the time to ask for help and support. If not, things fall apart around your shoulders with no plan B in place. I think putting your husbands stress levels and privacy above all else (and I say this with the greatest of respect) is doing you absolutely no good at this time. I sincerely wish you both all the best as you move forward to a solution that supports BOTH of you. You are a team remember?

Let’s hope that on Thursday your lives begin to take an upward turn. It’s shameful how you’ve been treated but thankfully (and hopefully) things are now going to look up. You’ve both had a really dreadful time. Here’s to a more settled 2019.

I'm so pleased that the Panaches are now receiving some help, well done to all those who went the extra mile to help out.

Just missed Panaches post. So pleased that the wheels are beginning to grind albeit slowly. Many thanks too to Luckygirl and Massimo for perservering and making it happen. It is wonderful here that people care so much.

Anne I am sorry you are still worrying about your DH. My mum falls regularly and I just hope that she is going to avoid breaking her hip again as I think that would be the end. Fortunately the carers made her walk again when she got back from hospital.

Ann I am so glad a placement was found for your husband. His latest UTI and fall would have been too much for you to cope with alone. He has staff to look after him 24 hours now. I do hope, though, that you have told them not to ring you at unsocial hours. They dealt with the fall, they can surely dispense medication, and tell you about it afterwards. I can imagine how worrying it must have been for you to get a ‘phone call at 11.30 at night. It would be worrying for anyone I think. No wonder you didn’t sleep. Maybe you could have a word with the manager?
I hope you are managing to sleep ok now and as well as visits to your H, I hope you have some days out planned for yourself. Wishing you all the best ann.

We had a funny time at the hospital - DH went with a problem in the prostate and came out with no definitive answer to that and a potential problem with his bladder too plus a few more appointments to look forward to. We would have had to rush to get to the theatre so didn't bother but came home to update the children and I suspect we will have an early night.

Sorry to hear that your hospital visit with dh raised more questions than it answered, kitty, not what you’d hoped for.

Lovely photo of you both soop, you do make a very handsome couple! Good to hear that help is at last on the horizon for mr and mrs p, its a fine line between maintaining independence and accepting help to allow some level of independence to be maintained. Not sure that actually makes sense written down, but I know what I mean!

It doesn't seem quite right to be wishing kitchen folk a Happy New Year this early in the evening, but as I'm not sure I’ll get back in later its got to be done. So sending you all my good wishes as another year will draw to a close and another will begin. We’ll all have our own highlights and sadnesses to look back on as well as our hopes and fears too for the year that’s to come. x

Well it’s been a funny old year and while the New Year’s Day optimism of my youth is noticeable by its absence I nevertheless wish you all whatever you would wish yourselves. Health, yes, wealth would be nice but I’m making no promises, peace and love whatever.

ann sorry to hear your DH is poorly. Falls and infections seem to occur more often with those suffering Alzheimer’s or dementia. Hope he is not in roo much pain.

kitty I’m sorry your visit to the hospital did not bring you better information. You always hope for clarity and build up to finding out things at these visits and then to find you still haven’t got the full answer just prolongs the worry. My DH had numerous bladder problems and prostate too. We ended up phoning the senior consultants secretary and asking to see the man in charge on our next appt as we felt the Registrar, pleasant though he was, didn’t give us a clear enough picture of what was going on.

Oh soop I’m so embarrassed you found my Argy (see through slinky sexy) evening dress behind the sofa. I can’t think how it got there . I can only think I’ve been going backwards and forwards between the kitchen and the Argy to check on marydoll’s condition I must have had to do a quick change behind the sofa.?

Mind you soop I think you might have been a bit of a norty girl yourself when you were at the Argy. It might have been a slip of the keyboard but were you really doing the okey pokey down the high street ???
