Managed to get DH to the GP's. She was lovely and sent him for X-ray just to check there was no fracture. Hip not broken so now he is on strong pain killers. They also did not mention arthritis which is a relief. She also was able to give me advise re BC medication. It is great to have a GP who makes the time for you.

Hoping the Panache's have managed to get further with their quest for help.

Charleygirl5 Mon 31-Dec-18 15:40:17

soop for such a bargain did you check that the shoes are matching and more importantly are the same height? It will not do your hips any good if you are hirpling along on different heights. It was a definite bargain if they are both matching.

I am enjoying reading all the goings on here it has brought a smile which is much needed.
My H is not well, my S and I have just been to see him, a rare event in itself.
He fell last night and the ambulance was called, he was checked over and pronounced ok.
He has to be checked as he is on Apixaban,a blood thinner.
Today he is very stiff and somewhat subdued , he was very tired and didn't mind us leaving after 45 minutes, he wanted to sleep.
I am not expecting a Happy New Year.

Panache Mon 31-Dec-18 15:34:17

Just to report some uplifting news........the senior Doctor made a home visit at my request,he is improving, of course he continues on meds for the rest of his life, and of course is in danger ........ however, one day at a time hopefully.

Furthermore thanks to Mamissio and Luckygirl we had a phone call from SS and they visit this Thursday. There was an apology for the lack of a reply to our earlier call, with a rocket sent to the Dept in question.

A huge vote of thanks to all you lovely caring people,I have tried replying to the many P.M`s which I appreciated,if you have been missed out,my apologies.Whilst for those going “that extra mile” words fail me and I am deeply touched.

I may be independant but am well aware the time has come when perhaps I have to opt for what is best for our survival together. It is hard as we both have been givers over very many years..... and never receivers......but times are obviously achanging.Whilst I have to take into account my husband`s privacy and stress levels first and foremost.

Wishing you all a very Happy and Healthier New Year.....and again a grateful Thank You from two hearts whom appreciate your caring and kindness.

Soop and Willow I think we have all been eating too much cheese at supper time, judging by all these dreams. I told GS about my dream but left out shooting the reindeer!! He is still laughing about the dog and the sausage! He has been here today having stayed over, and it seemed like a good idea to go out for a walk in the country park. Lots of fresh air and if we take a football and stick to the gravel paths we should be okay, right? Wrong! Small boys have a propensity for homing in on mud even when others can’t see it. Grandad kicked the ball. GS was in the air! My whole life flashed before me as if I was on the point of death as he landed on what looked grass but turned out to be a horrible bog! He thought it was hilarious. Grandad thought it was hilarious until i gave him “The Hard Stare”! All I could see was my daughter’s face when she saw his clothes. So on the way home I nipped into a well known supermarket and got him a pair of trousers to wear and then tried to rescue his shoes and his jacket. A passable result has been achieved, but nothing gets past her, so......☹️. Am I afraid of her? Too b****y right I am!

I hope Panache and Mr P are continuing to take small steps toward coping with life, but that the cavalry will appear over the hill very soon! Not a good way to go into a new year. My love to both.

Sounds like New Year’s Eve in the Argy will be quite a knees up! I shall have to cry off due to my bad back hmm, but I will raise one of the new gin glasses my DiL bought me (full, of course!) to you all this evening and wish you everything you would wish for yourselves in 2019! Have a great evening whatever you’re doing!

Nannytopsy Mon 31-Dec-18 15:04:04

No Soop not leaving the kitchen! Cracking cartoon Maw - it even looks like the granddog. Fortunately as a whippet lurcher she isn’t as huge as Hattie but still likes to share the sofa with one person, not two!

soop Mon 31-Dec-18 14:46:14

Maw I found the boots on an iffy market stall. A cheeky chappie was calling out...^one for 5.99 and a pair for 10.99. I can't resist a bargain.

GrannyGravy Thank you for reminding me that I've useful stuff to do. Ironing being at the top of the list.

Willow The video will be watched many times over. One of technologies most successful contributions.
I agree that your latest dream was weird. Have you been over indulging on the cheese? I also had a very strange dream. I was about to go into labour. Not the political kind. It scared me witless for a brief moment. And...then I woke up.

Willow500 Mon 31-Dec-18 14:34:07

I have been away for less than a day and all sorts of wild shenanigans seem to have been going on in here - are there still some of you hiding behind that enormous sofa with G&T's? I had wondered where the large tub of Celebrations had got to as well - now I know! It's definitely the season to be keeping one's head below the parapet it seems!

It also seems to be the season for bizarre dreams GreyD - I lost all my teeth during the night and Mr W was unable to capture the white Shire horse which he was trying to start the tractor with blush

I'm relieved to hear from Panache and that Mr P is slightly improved and they are just getting by on their own. The kindness of those in here who have offered practical help is wonderful to read. Hoping that the New Year brings proper help to them both.

Marydoll my knitting skills are zero - it once took me 9 months to knit a sleeping bag for a friend's baby - when it was finally done he was too big for it. Is the World of Quid still open - maybe we could club together to kit you out?!

We had a video yesterday showing our grandsons in NZ on the Christmas present bought with the money we sent them - a large trampoline. I have just received another photo from son no2 - it shows 2 small naked boys with the caption Greco-Roman wrestling on the new trampoline - obviously decorum prevents me posting it on here grin

Happy New Year to you all - whatever you may be doing tonight I hope you enjoy it.

Charleygirl5 Mon 31-Dec-18 14:07:54

soop that was too much money to pay- I am sure we can find you something cheaper. As for longevity, I am not too sure.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 31-Dec-18 14:07:39

Popped in after my assault on the ironing mountain, duvet sets and sheets that I have been putting off doing!!!!

The last few posts have made me laugh out loud!!

MawBroon Mon 31-Dec-18 14:04:42

Was that at ShoeZone Soop ?

soop Mon 31-Dec-18 14:03:35

Chewbacca So, the brew that I believed to be PG Tips, was something that had been concocted out the back...so to speak. I managed to spill some on the floor. It rotted the soles of my thigh-high boots. They cost me all of 10.99 in a Black Friday sale.

soop Mon 31-Dec-18 13:58:58

That was meant to be very tall bar stoll wink

soop Mon 31-Dec-18 13:57:46

Maw grin Love the cartoon.

Charleygirl I'm an innocent. When invited in for a brew and cupcake that's what I believe will be served on a nice china plate with starched tablecloth and napkin. No way! I was offered a vart tall bar stool. Big Jim had to give me a leg-up. The cupcake tasted suspect. It made me spin whilst still seated. The brew had a peculiar flavour. I was told to take small sips. After that...my mind went blank. grin

Charleygirl5 Mon 31-Dec-18 13:50:13

I only hope that Hattie's sofa is comfortable and long enough for her svelte body. A guid New Year to Hattie also and yourself too.

Chewbacca Mon 31-Dec-18 13:46:13

By all means, pop into the Argy Bargy but, whatever you do, don't touch the "herbal" tea. The hangover it leaves you with is worse than drinking a gallon of poteen. although the psychedelic lights and kaleidoscope faces are interesting.

MawBroon Mon 31-Dec-18 13:43:46

Moi soop ?

As if!

Hattie has asked me to send you all this Happy New Year card!

Charleygirl5 Mon 31-Dec-18 13:43:06

soop I do wish you would not visit that den of debauchery, even although you think you are going to help that lot. You have led a very sheltered life and they are taking advantage- hence the reason Marydoll is in her present state. You do not want to end up in the same predicament, MacSporran would be appalled.

soop Mon 31-Dec-18 13:36:17

mcem and GrannyGravy...take my advice. I foolishly delivered an upside down cake to the door of the den of iniquity - AKA Argy Bargy Cafe . I dare not repeat what followed. I was taken into the cellar by a member of the staff. He told me that we were to change the beer barrels. I remember little of the matter. However, at dawn the next day, I was photographed by a well known newspaper, doing the okey pokey down the main street. I was...wait for it...wearing fishnet tights and thigh-high boots. My back hasn't been the same since. wink

soop Mon 31-Dec-18 13:26:11

Mamissimo Delightful photograph. A symbol of new beginnings. Thank you for your support in other matters. flowers

Maw Does the reindeer headdress with flashing lights belong to you? It wouldn't stop playing Jingle Bells so I had to remove the batteries. grin

soop Mon 31-Dec-18 13:22:31

I've led a very sheltered life. Educated in a Convent. hmm

Mamissimo Mon 31-Dec-18 13:21:22

Tempted to run away if there’s tidying to be done!

I bring you all the first harbinger of spring - I found this little one in the garden this morning. It gave me a such a lift!

I’ve left some cough linctus on the side....?

soop Mon 31-Dec-18 13:20:56

Marydoll, forgive me for not being aware that you have also had a wild fling with the entire elevation of elves. grin Hows that for clever thinking?. All I can say is...phwoar!

aggie you have a very good reason to lie on our chaise. I've plumped up the cushions for you.

Izabella Your message put a big smile on my face. Thank you for your kind words.
I trust that are over the worst of your cough/cold. Stay warm and take things easy.

Nannytopsy

We two are also looking forward to a peaceful evening. We shall raise a glass of something delicious to you all throughout the evening. We do not intend staying awake for the bells. I need to be up early next morning, as my pal and I are visiting the care home.

Nannytopsy You don't mean moving from the kitchen?

Doodle and lemongrove I believe that the bizzare fancy dresses that I found stuffed behind the sofa, belong to you. They are the sort of raunchy attire best suited to the Argy Bargy Cafe. Us lot may dare to pop in sometime in the distant future for a knees-up and cabaret starring Big Jim. He is one of you lot, methinks.

MawBroon Mon 31-Dec-18 13:02:57

Oops who was on the kitchen tidying rota ? blush

soop Mon 31-Dec-18 13:01:33

Nandalot I believe the new drama is called 'Dark Lake'...or 'Black Lake'. It had me jumping from my armchair on more than one occasion. shock

I stroll into our kitchen to discover a heap of sweet wrappings deposited behind the sofa. I also tripped over a few empty bottles of what had been bubbly stuff. Paper hats, whistle thingies - that people blow in order to celebrate having had the bubbly stuff, and, takes in a deep breath, a diary of Marydoll's listing her many shenanigans. Talk about hair raising. I need to recline on the chaise in order to recover.
