Good to hear you saw a warm hearted doctor, soop, it makes all the difference in the world to be treated as a person not a case file. Thinking of you as you wait for results of all that poking and pummelling.
No wonder you’ve been feeling so worried callgirl, very justifiably so. As mums we want all our babies, as that’s what they still are to us, to be safe and well and it’s so hard to cope with when they’re not. I hope you are able to feel more settled when his treatment plan is clearer. Thinking of you as you try to support your family and manage your own worries too. All the harder when the person you most want to share it all with isn’t there beside you

Well after a wet, wild and windy few days it’s calmed down with a hint of blue sky...only a hint mind you! I’m fed up with this dodgy and unpredictable knee of mine. The X-ray showed no arthritic deterioration since the last one was done 4 years ago., which is good news. The physio can’t say what’s causing the current problems and the advice is to avoid kneeling, walk (but not too much) and go easy on the stairs. Exercises may/may not help. So maybe a little stroll is in order for this afternoon. I’m very much of the “use it or lose it” school of thought and want to get back to my normal activity levels ASAP.

Callgirl I do feel for you at this time in your son's life. It's a shock to the system when such a diagnosis is made and you always think of the worst.

Well if it's any consolation my next door but one neighbour who's in his 70's had a big operation 12 months last December ( 2017 ) for the removal of a lung then used to drive himself to have his radiotherapy for the next 6 months last year.
Without a word of a lie he looked healthier than me ! Even enjoyed a holiday with his family after his treatment. He now has annual checks. He was a smoker and also enjoys his beer.

There is so much hope now in holding back this dreadful disease that obviously the younger you are, like your son, the better the chance. We are so very fortunate here at having a brilliant cancer hospital ( Clatterbridge ) which is so wonderful in the treatment of cancer and of which I can personally sing its praises.

Another lovely old neighbour in his 90's had his life saved when he'd developed a large aneurism. He was out and about in that icy weather the other week. I think he's 96 this year.

All is not lost. It's just a matter of getting over the nasty shock initially. I wish you and the family well. You will overcome this battle x

ann my commiserations because I have the same problem here now and again with poor Tara. A bully boy has been chasing her for a couple of years now- my and Tara's only saving grace is that he is too thick to work out how to get in her cat flap.

When he sees me he runs away- that is because in the past I have sprayed him with water. I have no idea where this fellow lives and he does visit at odd hours so I do not think he has the freedom Tara has.

I suggest you spray him with water and hope that he hates you sufficiently to look for pastures new. The sooner she is spayed the better.

Aah poor Molly. I don’t have experience of cats so don’t have any suggestions.

Another Sunday - for some reason I hate Sundays when dark thoughts intrude. It maybe the lack of routine or the fact I have more time to Google. Some good friends are taking me out and my son has promised to FaceTime with the GC so hopefully it will be okay.

Good morning from a wet but not windy Stockport.
After only five days of freedom, which she loved, Molly is being kept out of her own garden by a black and white bully.
I could hear banging this morning and came down to find Molly in the hall, I let her out and she came straight back in and I then saw the intruder, he must have been trying to get in through the locked cat flap.
She won't go out now.
I don't know if it is her body or food he is after, she is scheduled to be spayed in two weeks!!

What a day! My poor DS was at work today - he’s a manager for a S****bugs when one of his staff came running....Sir your car’s been written off by a lorry.

Bless him, he thought it was standard supermarket banter (!) but it seems a delivery lorry driver misjudged the size of the delivery bay and swiped the car as he turned.

company policy recommends that his car shouldn’t be left in the customer car park because disgruntled customers who nick stuff and are barred sometimes exact a petty revenge on managers cars by keying them etc.

Poor man, it was his pride and joy, bought with a small inheritance from his Gran three months ago. Talking to him on the phone today he was a toddler again. I. So glad he wasn’t in it at the time!

And this, unbelievably is from the same Kitchener whose DD andSiL had their cars wiped out by a drunk driver last month!

Scotland were beaten by Ireland. the first half was thrilling. The second, not so thrilling.

I'm ironing and watching a thrilling rugby match between Scotland and Ireland. I have yelled long and loudly. MacSporran emerged from the loft (his man cave) to check on me. He made me a brew and disappeared (up aloft) with a wry smile on his face.

I'm in contact with Gillybob. She has said she is having a break just now and thanks everyone for their good wishes. She plans to pop in now and again.
I do miss her.

Calling Matron and team of put-upon carers. Did the castor oil quieten those frisky poorly men down? If not, try Vick on certain extremities. Bet that would dampen their ardour.

Baggs Sloggis are my absoloute fave. Always white, and one size larger than I need. I like roomy knickers.

My mother, with one day off a month in the 50's used to iron bra straps. Talk about making work for herself but she did send the bedding off to the local laundry because in those days we did not have a washing machine and it would have been horrendous hand washing bedding.

My vapour rub is still working well. I am ashamed to say I have never tried it before, instead, I have spent a fortune buying the cold "cures" in packets but now because of other drugs I am on, they are forbidden.

My ex was in the SAS but did not know where the kitchen was or what the appliances were for. I am sure he was taught how to change bedding unless he was not around that day. Houses cleaned and looked after themselves and the cupboards refilled themselves also.

Please look after yourselves and take it easy.

We escaped the high winds in NW London yesterday- the sun is out here so I am going to have a look for something for tonight's supper which interests me but not a lot does.

Baggs do the knickers need starching before ironing? I have been known to iron my son’s boxers when in a good mood but my DH thinks it’s the thin end of the wedge......

For a light-hearted interlude, when I met The Soops on Thursday I asked Herself about ironing knickers, something she gets paid to do. The thing is, I'd have to stretch my knickers in order to not iron creases into them, because of the elastic, you understand, so I asked Soop about ironing her employer's knickers.

Soop gave me a very clear description of the movements of the iron and the folding procedure she employs. MacSporran then asked me if I understood that. I did. I'm not sure he does though.

Anyway, it seems I'll have to buy Sl0gg1s if I want ironable knickers.

Don't worry. I don't.

Willow despite not having a very cordial relationship with my MiL I have yto take my hat off to her as she raised Grampy well. Combine that with a life in the army and the man can iron, clean and cook with the best of them . I travelled a lot for my career so Grampy and I have always shared the chores- so you might say he's had a lifetime practicing ! Dinner turned out remarkably well and is a new recipe to add to our growing repertoire !

Hope the Vicks treatment is still working well charley .
