What do people think about the young woman who ran away to join ISIS and now wants to return here to have her baby in safety?
I don't know what to think. I'm sorry her last babies died but I'm horrified to hear her dismiss unbelievers' heads in bins as 'enemies of Islam'. Any thoughts?

I absolutely cannot stand Trump but but boy he does have a point that Europe goes need to get its act together to deal with this problem.

I would certainly favour international war crime trials for isis fighters and their wives.

Mycatisahacker Sun 17-Feb-19 17:08:44

I think we would have to pay for them to keep us safe PECS

Were not the man who tried to bomb Edinburgh airport doctors?

maryeliza54 Sun 17-Feb-19 17:07:11

EV your post is completely and utterly false in every respect. I’ll now wait to be criticised for posting this

Jalima1108 Sun 17-Feb-19 17:06:53

what's he done now?

Jalima1108 Sun 17-Feb-19 17:05:42

oh dear, I think she has over-estimated the extent of people's sympathy.

I'll reserve mine for the innocents caught up in the conflict.

Iam64 Sun 17-Feb-19 17:05:23

Another blundering, bullying , aggressive, confrontational and unhelpful intervention from Trump. I'm sure senior military and diplomatic staff from the Uk and other European countries are already in discussion with each other and the US about the best / least worst way of dealing with the Isis fighters captured in Syria.
It isn't the Trump way though is it, to negotiate and reach consensus. He is, as he promised, behaving as Potus as he did when working on deals, his way or the highway.

I haven't read anywhere any suggestion that some kind of international war trials, like after WW2 and the Bosnian war for example, is being proposed. I'd like to see some kind of international response of that kind before any of the Isil fighters are let loose on Europe. Another Trump threat.

It seems turkey is likely to invade and attack the Kurdish regions along the Turkish border, again. As if the Kurds haven't been through enough.

Jalima1108 Sun 17-Feb-19 17:04:39

Besides which, she was from London and went via Turkey with the two other schoolgirls.

phoenix Sun 17-Feb-19 17:04:09

Just heard on the news, that she had said that "people should have sympathy for her, after everything she has gone through"

shock

Jalima1108 Sun 17-Feb-19 17:01:26

On reading my local rag it seems that SB married a Liverpool lad who'd converted to Islam, in 2015 at a Mosque in Birmingham
Are you sure EllanVannin?
She would have been only 15 and that would have been illegal in the UK.

I also read that her husband is Dutch and she does not know his whereabouts.

maryeliza54 Sun 17-Feb-19 16:58:27

Spot on Lily I rather think there have been some doctors who have been involved in terroism in the UK <faints>

PECS Sun 17-Feb-19 16:54:41

Who would pay for the prison camps?

I agree that Syria will not want foreign mercenaries who were fighting against the government (rightly or wrongly). Not sure how the rules of engagement work in this circumstance...it seems both sides have broken international agreements … e.g rape, gas, etc. Neither 'side' comes out of this conflict well.
So sorry for ordinary people who were just living their lives in what was a pretty sophisticated place having it all messed up and their lives shattered. The Syrian refugees, who had no part in the conflict, are still given a hard time in the host countries they have sought refuge in. sad.

Lily65 Sun 17-Feb-19 16:54:29

By the way , I think the notion that rich Muslims are OK really stinks.

Mycatisahacker Sun 17-Feb-19 16:53:28

It’s really frightening isn’t it

Lily65 Sun 17-Feb-19 16:52:49

Can somebody provide a link to the council house situation please?

I don't understand how people can be given council houses.

EllanVannin Sun 17-Feb-19 16:52:16

On reading my local rag it seems that SB married a Liverpool lad who'd converted to Islam, in 2015 at a Mosque in Birmingham. Whether he was responsible for her first pregnancy/ies it doesn't say.,
The marriage broke down " as he was radicalised online by extremists ".His intention was to go to Raqqa to help ISIS by " film-making, proof-reading and cookery ". quote,"However while he was on his way to Turkey he was snared by undercover agents who recorded everything he said and in 2017 was jailed for 5 years to which he blamed his wife for snitching on him ", unquote.

Hundreds of British Jihadis are believed to have returned from Syria and Iraq to the UK------as well as their ISIS supporting wives.

Some ISIS recruits have considered Liverpool their home.

Mycatisahacker Sun 17-Feb-19 16:42:56

Makes my blood boil to think they are given council accommodation at our expense. They should be interned in prison camps indefinstly to keep us safe.

Mycatisahacker Sun 17-Feb-19 16:40:41

Sorry if it’s been answered before but would it be impossible for Syria to put these people on trial if the crimes were committed in Syria and then after their sentence deport them to their home countries.

I assume the poor Syrian people just wast them out and I get they.

Jalima1108 Sun 17-Feb-19 14:36:38

Oh, I see that PECS said that too (it was on the next page and I didn't realise, sorry)

Jalima1108 Sun 17-Feb-19 14:35:19

Teens are often looking for a 'set' they can belong to and radicals will offer that
Also the 'gang' culture that more young people seem to be attracted to.

starbird Sun 17-Feb-19 14:32:37

As previously mentioned, for those who don’t know, the Government does have a policy for feturning Jihadi supporters:

They are initially detained and go through a process of interviews/investigation to determine if they are still a threat. If they are considered dangerous, they are charged and imprisoned. So far only a small minority - 10% have been detained ( which may not be a bad thing as prisons are apparently a hotbed for Moslem conversions - strange given that presumably any Moslem in prison is a criminal).
If the returnee is not considered a threat they are given assistance to find work and council accomodation, so that they do not feel disenfranchised.
Some are ‘tracked’ . Maybe that is why we do not have enough policemen.
See Daily Telegraph 15 Feb 2019 .

Urmstongran Sun 17-Feb-19 13:52:48

Probably the same as we are here GG13 on this forum! Especially as it’s linked in to Facebook and Twitter (which I didn’t fully know about).
I think I’ll stop posting on this topic now.
We are giving the girl and her family too much oxygen.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 17-Feb-19 13:48:20

SB has given an interview to Sky News, in which she states that she was aware of the be heading, torture and all that ISIS stood for before she joined them.

She is not showing one iota of remorse, if and when she is repatriated surely long term jail is the only answer, preferably in solitary confinement so that she is unable to radicalise anyone else?

I wish that the media would stop giving SB "airtime" she is becoming a "one women advert" for Daesh!!

Urmstongran Sun 17-Feb-19 13:23:59

I just wish these radicals wouldn’t try to ‘change’ the west. If they don’t like how we live then why don’t they just go back to eastern countries and find there the values that they like?

Gonegirl Sun 17-Feb-19 13:15:40

petra had a good idea there. ?

PECS Sun 17-Feb-19 13:08:22

As the 'gang' culture on city estates. Not a new phenomena... remember the Moonies, Hare Krishna and others! Vulnerable or just curious young people are sometimes drawn to an organised group.. I just went to youth club at the church....
