I find some views posted here islamophobic. I share the concerns about returning jihadis and women like S B. There are no simple answers to complex problems, it doesn’t matter how infuriated some folks become, there are laws to be followdd. We diminish our culture by demanding otherwise

ISIS girl
(1001 Posts)What do people think about the young woman who ran away to join ISIS and now wants to return here to have her baby in safety?
I don't know what to think. I'm sorry her last babies died but I'm horrified to hear her dismiss unbelievers' heads in bins as 'enemies of Islam'. Any thoughts?
She was fifteen when she went out there, married within six weeks. That means, by our laws, she was abused. Who knows what she has seen and lived through since. Perhaps any of us would have become desensitised in the circumstances.
If she can get herself out she should be accepted back. Only then can it be decided whether she is fit to have sole responsibility for her child. To take a child forcibly from it's mother and allow it to be adopted away is wrong.

Such as?
I find a few posts on this thread racist. It is an emotive subject and I can understand peoples fear and horror. But really there are some vile and spiteful racist venom being spouted. Seems to me that extreme views are evil and dangerous no matter what your faith, ethnicity or skin colour.
Buffybee you ask "Why do people come to a Western Country when they are against everything that the West represents?"
Missionary zeal & power lust! Often the same underlying reason Christian missionaries and imperialists went to Africa and the Indian sub continent & South America years ago! They are deluded and arrogant assuming their belief system and ideals are better! Agreed the missionaries did not go violently as warriors (Onward Christian Soldiers?) but they did disrupt communities!
I have no idea when you do think parents are unfit gonegirl in my book inviting killing, passive acceptance of beheading and medieval butchery, rape and torture?
Not really mother of the year Is she?
I read a concern that seems reasonable to me: how might the refugees who fled here from ISIS feel on hearing that one of the very people who led to their flight has been allowed to come here?
She didn't seek out that journalist and doesn't seem to be making efforts to return. However, the article has made people think about returning jehadis.
POGS
Totally agree with your post.
Isis has nothing to do with any religion let alone the normal interpretation of what it it to be a Muslim. You insult religions when you associate this woman with any religion.
Nothing to do with race or religion but terrorism.
I would think exactly the same of a far right nazi extremist.
Gonegirl I may be cynical, but just supposing she could be brought back and ...debrainwashed'.... and decided to be an ambassador of the follies of doing what she did. How would we know she had been debrainwashed. She could be a good actress. She could set up as an ambassador but still be ISIS in her heart. She could be in the UK but working with ISIS regardless of how well she was monitored.
I believe there is a strong current of racism and religious prejudice running through much of this thread.
I don't believe that there is.
I think that if you think this has anything to do with race or religion then I think that is wrong - the vast majority of decent Muslims living in this country, of whatever race, are equally appalled by Isis and by the actions of these young people.
Jack Letts is, I think, in the custody of the Kurds and he can stay there as far as I am concerned.
This has nothing whatsoever to do with racism it is about terrorism.
Why would any government allow terrorists and their sympathisers into our country???
I heard on radio interview yesterday the other girl who is still alive, her Dad was also member of radical Islamic group to do with ISIS but in interview he said he made a mistake and is sorry he got involved. No doubt he set his daughter the example of ISIS.
Monica He should not be allowed back either if he went to fight with / support Daesh.
It is not racist to not want a terrorist to return. I would not like any of them including Jack Letts, returned regardless of English sounding name or not. Nothing to do with race everything to do with terrorism and risk to general public.
I have read her first two children died of malnutrition but she clearly had enough food herself. She will be allowed back as does not have duel nationality so cannot strip her of citizenship. However she is evil scum and should have baby taken away or else what evil ideas will she put in its head. I hope SS are on to this. That baby should be adopted by loving family. She should be prosecuted for her actions and held to account. Jail is too good for her. I think of the person who's head was cut off and put in a bin but she has said she was not fazed by it and she has absolutely no remorse. If she comes back she will be a risk to the general public who will have to spend millions to protect her. I really hope she cannot get herself to consulate to get help.
One of these Jihadi brides from Austria is suing the government " for not stopping her from going to Syria !!"
How far she'll get remains to be seen.
JenniferEccles I think what you say is appalling. Why should this girl not come from a decent honest loving family?
We have British people through and through, who are serial killers, rapists and/or have a history of violence and yet come from good kind homes where their siblings are model citizens.
I believe there is a strong current of racism and religious prejudice running through much of this thread.
Would you stop the British man, Jack Letts, from returning home. Would you say of him You can't tell me (s)he came from a kind, loving decent family given the way (s)he has turned out.. His parents live in my nearest city and have been in the local papers a lot. They seem loving parents, with an alternative life style, but the last people on earth to have son who would become a Muslim and go to Syria.
Come to think of it I would throw her entire family out of our country - parents, grandparents (no doubt the whole lot are here), siblings
Laughable.
I wonder at her appearance. She doesn't look " half-starved " to me unlike like a lot of mothers in these war-torn countries where their babies are visibly starving. What's that about ?
Those mothers who work in fields can be seen feeding their babies with what appears to be a wizened looking breast but with nevertheless enough nutrients to keep the baby alive.
If this girl is healthy enough to carry a baby full-term then she's also fit enough to feed and look after it where she is.
Some of our ladies here, who've lived by the book and led decent lives, sadly lose babies by some quirk of nature and not by being bad in any way, so what I'm saying is that if this girl concentrated on the new life inside her instead of her own chosen way of life perhaps no more babies will be lost.
An expert on the radio yesterday was suggesting that as a 15 year old she was looking for control as she was controlled at home. She would have seen ISIS as freedom from that control. Of course none of us can really know what her thinking was at the time.
Buffy Why do people come to a Western Country when they are against everything that the West represents? Is there a move among some Islamists to try to change anyone who doesn't believe what they believe? I'm thinking about the conflict between different sections of Muslims and extending that to those who are not Muslims.
I agree with your post POGS

We have no idea what Bagum did whilst being a ' volunteer' ISIS bride.
Do we know she had 2 children who died of malnutrition and if they did what were the circumstances.
What we do know is she was an intelligent 15 year old girl who could not have failed to know ISIS was a medieval,, violent, barberous group that wanted' Death to ALL Infidels ', that is you, me, our children and babies and Anybody who did not believe in the formation of their Caliphate.
They are Barbarians in deed and action who TORTURED, MAIMED, KILLED, CRUCIFIED, BEHEADED thousands , used CHILDREN AS HUMAN BOMBS and taught them how to kill. The children of the ISIS Terrorists, who are both male and female there is no difference, were not immune, their parents prepared them to do acts of barbarism for their cause.
Bagum and all the others ISIS fighters that have been captured or surrendered are now crying wolf and saying they did nothing, they led normal lives, they want to
' Come Home'. They chose to make their home the dream of an ISIS Caliphate and they would have gladly seen the UK and the West blown to smithereens.
Just because she is a woman, just because she is pregnant it cannot obviously follow she is not as potentially culpable as any other ISIS fighter of having abused, tortured or killed those she saw as ' Infidels'.
That is not ' Mysoginy' that is stating the truth.
Jalima - I don't know whether SB can come back from her experiences.
I was just musing, really.
That just strengthens my feelings about this Buffybee She should not be allowed to return.
You are right too mycatisahacker definitely clarity and strategy needed for cases like this.
