I think that the idea of greed doesn’t just apply to food.
We are all quick to condemn ‘greedy’ bankers and businessmen, so why do some people think it’s their right to be greedy in their own lives?
Eating more than you need to sustain health is an indulgence, in the same way as drinking alcohol, or buying clothes that you don’t need is an indulgence.
Perhaps we all need indulgences and treats from time to time to cheer us up.
But we’re not entitled to indulgence, and when indulgence gets out of control, it becomes greed, and that’s bad for us and some would say a sin, too.
