Ten of us recently attended a ‘ playgroup night out’ with friends we made at playgroup over forty years ago! Very few of us worked ( so no cars, meals out, or foreign holidays), and the play was led by two playleaders and three mums ( and even a couple of dads) on a rota basis. Nights out were usually fundraisers, or just a night in at someone’s house. The annual dance was a highlight of the social calendar! So many lasting friendships were made, and support given, and I feel it’s a shame they seem to have disappeared from communities.
