I'm so lucky

Thanks for all your good wishes . I am now going to try to stay positive and embrace my 60s! I hope my black dog has gone for a while now, and I hope you are all doing well too x

Happy birthday SalsaQueen. I too count my blessings daily. I am so lucky to have a lovely family who have just surprised me by suggesting a meal out on Saturday. I am embarking on my first holiday alone next week since DH died last year, and they want to give me a good send-off! Bless them!

Happy Birthday

I have to remind myself often that I have so many good things in my life. My health problems play on my mind and affect me, but I do try to put on a cheery face and not moan to people about my suffering. Not a lot they can do. I have spent a weekend with my SIL and all we seemed to do was discuss her ailments and her medication. I am too polite not to nod and sympathise. She sits on her bum all day and lets her husband wait on her hand and foot. (I know we can let off steam here but I really want to scream at her to buck her ideas up. She really is a lazy hypochondriac, the person suffering the most in all the world, she is so, so hard, done by, etc, etc, etc... and when I know people who would give their everything to have her 'poor' health I get quite cross!)

I think we have to play the cards we are dealt as best we can and look for all the good bits in life and recognise all those (often fleeting) moments hen we feel blessed and are happy. I am glad you have been cheered up by all the love and attention shown to you SalsaQueen and I am sure the love going your way is well deserved. Happy birthday - enjoy your 60s! We are younger than we think we are! I hope life continues to be good for you.

My children went to a lot of trouble on my 60th - a few years ago now - and I often think back on it on less happy days. It's good to have these lovely memories to look back on when things are getting us down. Glad you have had a lovely day and it can be a treasured memory.

I think sometimes we are scared to admit that we are happy for fear of jinxing ourselves. I know I am. So well done you. Have a lovely birthday and enjoy every minute.

Birthdays are always much better when one or more of your children remember them and wish you a happy birthday! I think there was only one year both mine did, and one of them rarely does. Just having a little moan, I don't want to take anything away from your nice day, which you deserved to enjoy! :D

Happy birthday, SalsaQueen! Mine is on Monday and I know that, although I'll get cards from my DCs, I'll get nothing else. But... as you have mentioned about yourself, I am singularly blessed with my lovely loving (if occasionally too busy) family. My own Black dog isn't too bad at the moment - I'm waiting to ambush it!!!
