Sorry I have been out, so I have asked about maryeliza, is she ok and the thread is deleted. Please can HQ or somebody tell me what is the problem with concern for somebody who posts a lot , then disappears?

Gonegirl Sun 02-Jun-19 15:43:45

Perhaps it depends on what was said about the poster concerned. I don't know. I saw the thread but didn't follow it up.

Can only imagine.

Callistemon Sun 02-Jun-19 15:46:48

I was going to post on it but couldn't find it.

maryeliza posted the other day on one thread at least; perhaps she is having a break.

Are you a new poster, Elvive?

Riverwalk Sun 02-Jun-19 15:53:04

Unless you had real concern for a poster's welfare e.g. if someone posts a lot about a very ill spouse or parent, or they are known to be ill themselves, I suppose it's an invasion of someone's privacy to speculate as to their whereabouts.

Posters take breaks from GN - some choose not to flounce or announce it!

Have you tried to send her a private message?

Elvive Sun 02-Jun-19 15:58:11

Yes Riverwalk I have tried. Never mind, forget it. Thanks anyway.

Callistemon Sun 02-Jun-19 16:02:45

If you tried to send the message and couldn't then she may have gone.
Otherwise she could just be having a break.

crazyH Sun 02-Jun-19 16:05:15

She did post last week - hope she's ok

Gonegirl Sun 02-Jun-19 16:35:53

Hmm. On sending PM - "Sorry we cannot deliver your pm as this poster -- is currently unable to receive pms".

sad I liked her.

M0nica Sun 02-Jun-19 16:49:51

Perhaps she received unpleasant PMs so blocked everyone.

Jane10 Sun 02-Jun-19 16:58:42

Hmmmmm. She is a pretty 'nippy sweetie' who sometimes gave other posters a hard time. Maybe she got some nasty PMs from people too chicken to respond to her in a thread?

Ginny42 Sun 02-Jun-19 17:19:24

Hope she's just taking a break. She was very active on the News and Politics threads. I didn't always agree with her, or she with me, but her posts were always succinct and thought-provoking.

Nonnie Sun 02-Jun-19 17:19:25

Elvive is not new.

I think if she wanted anyone to know she was leaving she would have told them. I didn't see the deleted thread but assume it was controversial. She would not be the first to leave, give it a break and then come back with a new name

Callistemon Sun 02-Jun-19 18:28:04

I have never understood the need for a nasty pm.
Either say what you want to on the thread or not at all..

BlueBelle Sun 02-Jun-19 18:31:08

I pm d her a few days ago and didn’t get an answer I hope she hasn’t left as she was a well informed, clear minded lady

Day6 Sun 02-Jun-19 18:39:58

Could be she has gone on holiday or is taking a break?

I don't announce my plans to GN. I also think the poster in question is capable of fighting her own battles and is not intimidated by anyone.

lemongrove Sun 02-Jun-19 18:41:22

Posters often don’t post for a few days or even a couple of weeks, why is it considered a problem.
I didn’t notice a deleted thread.

Kandinsky Sun 02-Jun-19 18:42:02

Maybe she’s been banned?

Anniebach Sun 02-Jun-19 18:53:02

I did read the now deleted thread

Elvive Sun 02-Jun-19 19:14:52

Gonegirl Sun 02-Jun-19 19:18:46

Yeah. And?

Chewbacca Sun 02-Jun-19 19:21:21

Maybe she has a life outside of GN? Controversial I know, but its a possibility!

kittylester Sun 02-Jun-19 19:42:17

But, why would PMS not get through?

wildswan16 Sun 02-Jun-19 19:52:26

I don't post often so people wouldn't miss me. But if I did, I really don't think I would want people starting threads about me and guessing what I was doing and why I wasn't doing it etc.

I understand it is well meant and may be done out of concern but it does feel a little intrusive to me.

merlotgran Sun 02-Jun-19 19:57:16

Which thread was it? Give us a clue confused

Gonegirl Sun 02-Jun-19 19:58:01

It's that one that's not there now. grin
