Recording Boris and partner

As soon as this hit the news, my first thought was to wonder about the motives/political leanings of the neighbour who decided to call the police.

Then when I heard it had been reported to the Guardian, it all became clear.

The neighbours obviously spotted a fantastic opportunity to cause immense embarrassment to Johnson, and it was no surprise to me that they were by no means fans of his!

Like others I was amazed to hear just how many police deemed it necessary to turn up at the flat for what was just a rather heated argument between a couple.

Not one of us know the facts of the argument. Why are we talking about domestic abuse? What happened to innocent until proven guilty? What is happening to us as a society that we all jump in and make judgements without a shred of evidence?

Cannot abide the man. Of course it needed police involvement the woman could have been at risk especially as no one came to the door when the neighbours knocked. Due to his very privileged background he should be even more accountable for his actions. Do you honestly want this man as our Prime Minister?

I have seen other threads reminding us not to always assume that the man is the abuser.

This thread is interesting in that we are constantly being told on GN not to be judgmental and posters who dislike Corbyn and his backers are accused of hatred, yet it seems the gloves are off when it comes to Johnson.

Just an interesting observation as I want neither for PM.
Both are dangerous imo, although Johnson is a whole lot cleverer than poor old Corbyn.

Trouble is this is is not the first example of his personal life being a little chaotic.

And he could have knocked it all into touch by either simply coming to the door and apologising for the disturbance or by, post the event, being open about the row. Then there would have been nothing for his enemies to use as ammunition. Just another example of his poor judgement, IMO

Poor judgement which is evident in his life generally. How anyone can believe this is the man to oversee something of the magnitude of Brexit is beyond me. I wouldn't trust him to have the wherewithal to organise a raffle.

Look at the disgusting violence which broke out at Ascot outside the Windsor enclosure. Toffs aren't immune from disgusting behaviour are they ? The Demon drink again !

Clue: don't give them the ammunition and don't behave like a prat, especially at a time when you're trying the persuade your party members (and the wider public) that you're a man of sound judgement who is capable of leading, negotiating and influencing at the highest level. It's really quite simple.

But that’s the point. There is evidence, thanks to the neighbours whom many in this thread have been so quick to condemn, even though they were only doing what any sensible person would do. I wouldn’t have been quick-witted enough to record the conversation, but had the matter come to court, the recording would have been important evidence that could have made the difference between conviction and acquittal.

This afternoon on World at One, Sarah Montagu interviewed a man called John Griffin whose coach company (I think) has made large donations to the Conservative Party.
While he conceded that Boris is clever, he called upon him to be more open about his various relationships and his children and whether he had 5 of them or 6. He thought it strange that Boris always refuses to talk about his family.

Personally I couldn’t care less about how many children Boris has fathered, but I am not a Tory Party member and will not be voting.

But perhaps those who do have a vote, do care about these things.
Perhaps Boris may snatch defeat from the jaws of victory after all.

Quietly in our own homes, yes (providing it's legal obviously). In our homes when our behaviour is so loud that it causes our neighbours to be concerned for the welfare of the residents therein or for them to be disturbed, no.

There is a vast difference and someone of Boris's standing will be (or should be) very well aware of the importance of appropriate behaviour in such circumstances. The vast majority of people are.

At least now it is not ALL of us on Gransnet, according to you, it is only MOST of us that have skeletons in our closet, or 'messy incidents' in our past.

I'd be mortified if the goings-on in my life and relationships were open to public scrutiny. Johnson and his partner were having a heated row. They are not the first and they won't be the last. You find that strange. I am not sure why.

Some people may be as pure as the driven snow with nothing to hide regarding their relationship, because they don't argue. Good for them. I am one of those lesser mortals who has rowed with my partners in the past. All arguments were resolved.

That does not worry me as much as having a neighbour ensuring the press are informed about my personal life.

The neighbours did not have to ring the Guardian to spill the beans on Boris I am not a fan of his but I feel for him in this. The heated row between him and his partner blew over, as most do. Their neighbours' 'concern' is a sham. Their delight in broadcasting the news makes me question their motives.

He is in the public eye, but even so, his private life is not there for our delectation. We can see his detractors lapping it up.

The latest incident in Johnson's personal life is known to us because his left-wing (by admission) neighbours (who own up to "giving him the finger") phoned both the police (who didn't want to know) AND a newspaper.

I have no time for BJ. He is a bumbling idiot imo, but he does not deserve to have his private life splashed all over the media. I'd defend any person in the public eye who was judged accordingly.

Amazing how a camera just happened to be there to record a loving scene between Bozo and latest squeeze, just to prove a point I guess. Yuk, yuk, yuk. And what humbug it is.

It’s very upsetting that Boris Johnson and Carrie Symonds’s privacy has been invaded once again. This time by a photographer who appears to have been hiding in exactly the right bush to capture a picture of them holding hands to demonstrate their love

Yes, the word "nasty" springs to mind dizzygran , I wouldn't be able to sleep knowing they lived in the flat above mine and were 'spying' on me. They were probably delighted to have Boris as a neighbour, and just waiting for an opportunity to embarrass him. They had rudely gesticulated to him before, as well. How unpleasant they seem.

I can imagine the estate agents have been to Ms Symond's flat this week. I'd sell up too just to get away from that awful couple.

Just as BJ has had to take the flak, their motives and personalities are being questioned as well. Serves them right.

Who can blame him for doing a bit of damage-limitation. He doesn't really have a choice now, does he, considering the neighbours nastiness threw a dirty great spanner in the works, in terms of his career.

The reaction by those supporting Johnson in his transgression, both political and personal are analogous to those supporting Trump in his behaviour over his term.

Oh yes, those awful neighbours who were alarmed by the screams and yelling in the early hours. The other awful neighbours who heard it too! FGS! The pair of them have only themselves to blame. They then handled it badly by not answering the door and apologising to the other residents for disturbing them. End of.

If anyone on here has at any point in their relationship or marriage had to shout at their partner to get off them so loudly that your neighbours have heard you then you’re in an abusive relationship.
