Its a quiet Monday here at work. I'm bored stiff as the lads are out on site and the phone hasn't rung since 10am !

I have all the lights on and its black dark outside. Looks like there's a storm a comin'...… I'm picking the older DGC up from school at 3.15 and have no coat so will no doubt end up soaked to the skin. Might rummage around and see if I can find a high vis knocking around.

What's it like where you are?

At the moment it's dull. However I am hoping for a little peak of sun coming through. Monday blues for a lot of people probably today after such a good weekend. Very quiet at the moment where we live.

It’s beautifully quiet and very still here and the North Sea is shimmering in the morning sun. I can hear “my” blackbird family busying themselves in the tree (it’s like watching a soap opera) I’m so glad I topped the bird table up with their favourite treats last night.

Charliegirl isn't Bradfordlass "down under" ? So not a bank holiday smile
I've just opened the bedroom curtains and there is a haze over the distant marsh.
Not a leaf is moving, a couple of birds are twittering and a few starlings are grubbing around the lawn.

DH cleaning car before we pick up friends from airport and workers setting off alongside housewives going to the market for fresh bread and veggies.

Very quiet here. Sun is already glowing through the trees and casting a pinkish light on the grass and the old stone wall. Feels like it's going to be hot (too hot) again. Best get windows open and blinds down early.

BradfordLass please do not forget today is a BH so the library will be closed.

Wild, wild winds and although today is sunny, it's also raining occasionally.

I still have to go out in it when my Homecare lady comes: library to change and collect audio books. Pickup the pre-ordered groceries and some Paleo bread from the local specialist bakery.

Then I can batten down the hatches, make a cuppa tea and enjoy my new batch of books. grin

Warm and still with the occasional chatter of a couple of Magpies in the Willow tree at the end of the garden. Cat watching a Wood Pigeon wandering about the lawn and the dog panting slightly at my side.
Occasional cheers from the Cricket Club, the tinkle of water from next doors pond, lovely, lovely evening here on the edge of the Pennines.

Earlier on the sound of 2 my gds chatting/playing in the garden and when they went just the gentle bubbling of the water feature - all very peaceful. Currently some dogs in a nearby garden are trying to outdo one another in a barking competition... hopefully there will be a clear winner soon!

They`re swimming off BlueBelle`s beach!

Have been in the garden all day, a few light aircraft and a police helicopter have passed over.
I have now moved to the front terrace and the only sounds are the wood pigeons.

I’m sitting in a friend’s garden in the middle of London and it’s absolutely silent. Where is everybody?hmm

BlueBelle Sun 25-Aug-19 17:59:03

Was sitting in glorious sunshine in the garden until a neighbour decided to start a bonfire thick black acrid smoke now sitting back indoors all the windows closed.

I'm watching the cat world in action on the grass outside my flat.
Around 7 or 8 cats like to come over and hang out here.

I love watching how they all react to things. smile

The blazing sun has been shining on the back yard all day, I made the mistake of going to the bin barefoot, burnt me foot on the step!
Have also been curiously watching new neighbours moving in opposite.

It is now absolutely silent here in the garden. In the far distance I could hear someone's alarm but that has stopped now. Even the birds are silent.

Mapleleaf Sun 25-Aug-19 17:18:25

Quiet here in the garden, but can hear the distant hum of traffic on the A1 - that never ceases!

gillybob Sun 25-Aug-19 17:11:16

I’m sitting in the garden but being so close to the coast we have a bit of a breeze off the sea so it’s a bit chilly now . Watching the birds on my bird table and in the tree .

KatyK Sun 25-Aug-19 16:43:34

Garden looking pretty in the sunshine. It's completely quiet apart from the quacking of ducks on the canal at the back.

farview Sun 25-Aug-19 16:41:46

Gardens looking really pretty...dog too hot so gone under the picnic bench... massive sky... horses leaning over my fence chomping on my shrubs...next field, the farmers out with his tractor cutting hay.....downside... sorry..bloody sparrowhawk swooped a moment ago...took a beautiful little sparrow..yes it is nature.. don't like to see it...

Charleygirl5 Sun 25-Aug-19 16:40:34

I live in a London suburb and if I did not see houses around me I would have thought I was in the middle of the country. Nobody is making noises with machinery in their gardens. I have just returned from shopping so a few items to tempt the palate tonight and for a few nights.

M7S carpark food store was nearly empty- it suited me but probably not Marks!

Brunette10 Sun 25-Aug-19 16:32:03

Our surrounding neighbours of which there are three are in their gardens, one having a barbecue and wine. Can't see others but hear them dotting about. I've been sitting out in garden on my own as DH has been a bit unwell with ongoing stomach and back problems. Went out for a lovely breakfast this morning but he is now suffering for it. Alas no tea for him tonight and it's not quite the same having tea on your own so may just have a snack. Would have been totally different this afternoon if it not were for DH but can't be helped. Hope everyone is having a good day, enjoy the sun.

Lovely bright sunny day - just come back from a nice foray/walk with doggie and OH - I can hear cow bells and motorbikes in the distance- our area is well known for circular routes with motorbike groups - just far enough not to be unpleasant. At the back of the house, tractors are turning the hay cut yesterday- and a few more cow bells ;)

MissAdventure Sun 25-Aug-19 16:20:32

Absolutely stifling here.
Home from work and sitting outside.
All very quiet, actually.

Spoke too soon, the people in a nearby flat have just put their music on.
