And I agree with annsixty.
annie I am sure a nice sturdy chain will do the business. Hopefully, this woman will be put off calling round with such lies again.
Kent Reliance Online - don’t ever……
Had awful shock Monday , this is not connected to My agoraphobia .
I moved to this bungalow two and half years ago. Very quiet
Cul de Sac. Only know the gentleman next door but one to speak to on telephone.
There is a woman living next door, never seen her, have often seen police and ambulance there and carers. I was advised to have no contact with the woman .
Monday afternoon a woman knocked my door, asked me If
I was alright my next door neighbour was worried about me, I was baffled and said there must be a mistake I was fine.
Then the woman came to the door, said I saw an ambulance here.
Last Thursday my spine locked, I couldn’t move, surgery sent ambulance, very embarrassing, two paramedics got me mobile. Having x ray today
Anyway this woman started talking about my daughter who died, said they were best friends, my daughter phoned her the night she died and was going to the woman’s house but went to the bridge instead, and said my son in law had been brutal to my daughter. I was shaking.
My daughter didn’t know her , certaintly didn’t phone her. I have my daughter’s mobile.
I have been told she has a drug problem and she played hell
with the people who use to live in my bungalow, disturbing
them at night, the woman said she would look after me !
No one in the Cul de Sac has anything to do with her, she never goes out.
I don’t lock my front door, always left it unlocked for my daughter. I know you will tell me t lock the door, I cannot
This all sounds hysterical but I am afraid of her .
And I agree with annsixty.
annie I am sure a nice sturdy chain will do the business. Hopefully, this woman will be put off calling round with such lies again.
I really feel " got at"
I don't know why my post was criticised.
I will stay in the kitchen in future.
At least I am understood in there.
Anniebach we do understand how this woman’s pestering has upset you and possibly made you feel a prisoner under siege. It is easy for those of us not in your position to blithely say Ignore her, etc but just as noisy or unpleasant neighbours can invade what should be our privacy and our safe space this woman has clearly rattled you. If she is unhinged or on drugs is neither here nor there, it is the effect it is having on you.
But I do seriously urge you to take a few measures partly for your own safety and partly to regain the “ownership” of your home.
The key safe and locking the door make good sense, as does the safety chain. Even if she is a harmless (?) busybody she will eventually get the message. You do not need to hide away inside and please take no notice of any comments which go to show how some people do not understand what you are going through
And, Annsixty I have no idea why anybody thinks you are silly,
You have all been so kind,
Annsixty knows my darling daughter was ill for ten years as do others here who helped me through the darkest of times .
I owe so many here so much .
On a light note, I have nothing of value to steal apart from my iPad and MacBook ?
I've only just seen this thread and am sorry to hear this too, Anniebach
There are some good suggestions on here, although I can quite understand why you feel unable to lock your door but I thought perhaps the key safe is a really good idea. However, I'm glad to see that your SIL who isn't has fitted a strong chain and that your younger daughter has come to help too.
Have you got blinds? The vertical ones can be adjusted so that you can see out but someone may have difficulty looking in.
The other thought was - is this a chance to get to know some of your other, nicer, neighbours? It seems that they are all very wary of this woman. Even just a chat on the phone with them could be reassuring.
ps and I hope that your x-ray proved that nothing is too much amiss.
I understand all too well why you link the unlocked door with your daughter Annie Im pleased you now have the chain as I think it’s important for you to be safe. I’m so sorry this lady has upset you she does sound very odd. I hope the X-ray went well and hopefully you are still having some therapy help for your anxiety. Pm me if you feel it will help you . God Bless x
Only just seen this. What a thing to happen after all you have been/are going through. Pleased to hear son in law who isn’t is sorting out chain. Some good ideas on here england from Callistemon.
Hope you are feeling less anxious now. And that X-ray goes well.
An update. I have received three telephone calls from neighbours giving me their Mobile numbers and one from a person who is very disabled to tell me he is awake for many hours through the night and can see my bungalow clearly , he lives directly across the Cul de Sac . I so hope when I can go out on Fred again I can visit him
That sounds promising, Anniebach. Maybe this cloud has had a silver lining after all.
Annie I know that you promised your daughter that you would never lock your door, so that she would always be able to reach you, but have you thought? Now, she can reach you at any moment without going through any door, whether it is open or locked, day or night. You can ensure your own safety without their being a barrier between you, because the lock would have been between your physical selves, not your hearts. Love laughs at locksmiths, and your love for her is still there.
Lovely sensible post Elegran.
Annie I hope that some light is coming through the dark tunnel.
May be a promising outcome that would not have otherwise occurred

How do your neighbours know your number?
annsixty don't feel got at, I can't see anything wrong with your post, and I'm sure most people wouldn't, I don't know what got up gonegirl's nose.
Beautifully expressed Elegran ?
Only just seen this thread. What a bonus Annie, you’ve gained four new friends!! The stout chain should do the job and be just as good as any lock, so you can be safe now.
I too was thinking along similar lines as Elegran, no locks can keep your daughter from you now. She’s with you always.
Sleep tight. xx
I hope Anniebach finds comfort in your post, Elegran
Lessismore maybe the neighbours used the phone book.
Annie I'm so glad to hear you are a bit happier, and have had support from your neighbours.
Also that you are getting a chain on your door to help you feel, and be, safe.
Look after yourself.
Elegran lovely post and so true.
I hope that brings some peace to Annie
annsixty, you are not being 'got at'. And you certainly weren't being silly.
Elegran, your post was perfect and let's hope that it has laid to rest any suggestion of dissent where there should be none.
Anniebach this cloud could have a silver lining - you have found that you have good neighbours whom you can call on, on the phone but perhaps with Fred in the future.
lovely piece GQ just looked it up. Sounds like something good has come out of this annie
Just caught up annie, what a day for you. elegran has expressed my point of view beautifully. I hope tomorrow looks brighter knowing you have friends in your cul de sac.
Lessismore
I had the same thought. The OP doesn't know anyone in the c-d-s.
