Sorry people I am 46 years of age and have been around in political circles.

I am a mother of a fourteen year old. I have three university degrees and have lived abroad for quite some time

I feel Boris Johnson can't orgainise his way out of a paper bag and all the people I know think the same

that is my milkman, my postman the people at the local shop the people at my local school.

I honestly am not being paid for saying this, but can we all come out and say...the guy needs to go,,,asap

merlotgran Fri 18-Oct-19 09:26:36

He's better than any alternatives I can think of right now.

Teetime Fri 18-Oct-19 09:28:39

I dont think you can label someone an idiot because you dont agree with them. Boris (who is not my cup of tea politically) is far from an idiot intellectually.

morethan2 Fri 18-Oct-19 09:31:25

In answer to your question OP. Me,me me, me ??‍♀️??‍♀️??‍♀️??‍♀️??‍♀️

Oopsminty Fri 18-Oct-19 09:31:27

I think he's doing exceptionally well given the circumstances

sodapop Fri 18-Oct-19 09:32:49

I agree with the last two posters. That's a sad state of affairs when there is no credible alternative.

Urmstongran Fri 18-Oct-19 09:36:01

paintingthetownred I often find self praise is no recommendation. You sound very full of yourself.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 18-Oct-19 09:39:00

I will own up to knowing a close relation of Boris, he is not an idiot.

annodomini Fri 18-Oct-19 09:47:08

painting, in a nutshell: me too.
Granny Gravy. Idiot may not be the right word, but, putting the best interpretation on his actions, he must be woefully misguided and foolish in his choice of advisers.

Gonegirl Fri 18-Oct-19 09:51:27

But why? Do you really want us to crash out without a deal? It would be disastrous for future relations with Europe.

Luckygirl Fri 18-Oct-19 10:11:16

I am deeply disturbed by the country being led by someone who is openly immoral and dishonest. This is a man who was sacked from his journalist post for making things up, and who has cheated on several women.

I do not think he will get his deal (whatever it turns out to be) through parliament, as he is being held to ransom by the DUP. EU have said no further extension, so Benn Act is down the pan, So....out with no deal and along will come a GE - and heaven help us if he and his cronies get voted in.

It is akin to Trump in that regard - a known liar and cheat who gets the popular vote. At least he does not seem quite as overtly insane as Trump with his pitiful delusions of grandeur and infallibility.

Amagran Fri 18-Oct-19 10:12:26

OK, Teetime, Johnson is not an idiot, but he makes idiotic statements and behaves at times idiotically. He appears to have no moral compass, is acknowledged by those who know him to be a pathological liar and apparently has the concentration span of a five three year old.

Johnson is currently being shored up by a Parliamentary Conservative Party, most of whom don't actually like him, but believe he is the best person not to govern but to help them hold on to their seats.

So who is a credible alternative? IMO, someone, anyone, even if I don't totally agree with their policies would be better. Let's face it, whoever wins the general election when it comes is still, despite what some Brexit supporters think, going to have to spend most of their time, effort and the country's resources in sorting out the deep mess we will be in.

So, holding our noses if necessary, let's vote for someone who is a little more trustworthy than our current PM and who could command more respect on the international stage.

TerriBull Fri 18-Oct-19 10:12:49

I seem to remember a poster got pilloried for using the word "twat" on some thread a while back, can't remember the context, but the overall impression was that it was an unacceptable word. How times change hmm

Boris Johnson wouldn't have been my choice, but I'd vote for practically anyone over Corbyn and his puppet master.

Anyway moving on, what a strange introduction "I've 3 university degrees", one would assume with, clearly the brain the size of a planet, you might get your age right in the first instance. The word twat springs to mind! Oops typo I mean twit of course, a euphemism must be used in an acceptable context mustn't it smile such as to describe a PM we don't agree with and not some batshit full of herself poster smile

GrannyGravy13 Fri 18-Oct-19 10:19:38

Luckygirl I agree with your post, if this deal is rejected there cannot be an extension and those MPs who voted to remain will find themselves responsible for the UK leaving the EU on 1/11/2019 without a deal.

Not sure if I’ve got your name right, but I so agree with your post. The strikes, 3 day weeks, rubbish piling up in the streets and bodies unburied owing to the innumerable strikes, high inflation, - yes, the 70’s were a time not to be repeated.
The blessed Margaret saved our country back then. The youngsters advocating a Labour government have no idea whatsoever what it was like.

grapefruitpip Fri 18-Oct-19 10:22:20

How can you have 3 degrees? Oh unless maybe you are in the Three Degrees?
The Milkman, the Shop Assistant and a mum from school?

Calendargirl Fri 18-Oct-19 10:24:56

Yes, a deal has been put forward. I listened to a Labour M.P. banging on about how she would fight against a no deal outcome. The interviewer kept pointing out a deal is on offer, but it was like addressing a brick wall. If they don’t vote for it, they have only themselves to blame when we ‘crash out’.

fiorentina51 Fri 18-Oct-19 10:36:04

Can't stand Boris but then again politics seems to attract flawed, morally suspect men IMO. Some of them turn out to be quite good at their job too.

P.S.
Why did you feel it necessary to start your post the way you did? Was it meant to impress?

paddyann Fri 18-Oct-19 10:37:43

THERE WAS A lABOUR GOVERNMENT AFTER THE "BLESSED MARGARET" I dont remember any of those things happening then and I'm not a labour supporter BUT it was a much fairer society !!

Beckett Fri 18-Oct-19 10:38:18

I would support a second referendum IF all MPs agreed to abide by the result - no matter what it was. Why do I think they wouldn't do that

glammanana Fri 18-Oct-19 10:43:42

TerriBull My thoughts exactly such a badly worded opening post from the OP considering so greatly educated.

Gonegirl Fri 18-Oct-19 10:45:56

The EU have said they would give extensions. Juncker isn't the be all and end all. Not that Boris intends to take one. As for the Benn Act he has said he would send the letter and then send another hot on its heels saying the previous letter was a formality only.

I think we should all hope and pray that this deal goes through.

Lancslass1 Fri 18-Oct-19 11:08:33

Of course Boris is not an idiot.
The idiots are those who keep on about a second referendum.
The people have voted.
The majority voted for Brexit.

How dare the Remainers imply that we didn’t know what we were voting for ?
How dare they say that “the people” want a referendum?
I know several people who voted Remain who agree that there should not be a second referendum..
Good Luck Boris.
You are giving us hope.
I am pleased that I am not alone.
If the majority of the Country thought as painting the town red does the Conservative Party would not be doing so well in the polls.

GrannieMigs Fri 18-Oct-19 11:12:34

Dear paintingthetownred, I presume your pseudonym reflects the socialist (Marxist?) "political circles" you inhabit - so it comes as no surprise to find you attempting a bit of rabble-rousing against a Conservative Prime Minister who is doing his level best to deliver the result of the EU Referendum. However, reading your post raised a couple of questions in my mind. First, I am a bit bemused as to what your three university degrees have to do with the price of fish (as my mother used to say). Indeed, I wonder how anyone so keen to trumpet their extensive academic qualifications can write a post so peppered with errors and almost devoid of punctuation. And second, how does being the "mother of a fourteen year old" qualify you to comment on this forum? It's "Gransnet": the clue's in the name..

whywhywhy Fri 18-Oct-19 11:17:24

I agree wholeheartedly with you! If so many people have this view then why the f***ing hell is he our MP??? Also I must point out that I have fallen out with a "friend" over this Brexit nonsense and she won't even talk to me at all now. Oh well she can buggar off with Boris and live happily ever after! x

craftyone Fri 18-Oct-19 11:20:48

Granniemigs, here here.
