Where have all our old friends gone?

It's so sad when special people disappear. Any news on the recently departed?

Callistemon Thu 21-Nov-19 12:16:45

I have no idea Rufus as I am not one of the GNHQ moderators!

You could report your own posts and ask them why.

Rufus2 Thu 21-Nov-19 12:13:22

I don't know what you mean though
Callistemon; With all due respect, you're dodging my question 'Why?"
I understood another Commandment is "Thou shall not open up another thread on the some topic" bad etiquette!
And please tell me, if a composition consists only of a "Smiley" does that count towards the 1,000?
Don't worry; laissez faire will ensure it fizzles out, as per usual! grin

Callistemon Thu 21-Nov-19 11:49:17

Even though we're Always Right.

Rufus2 Thu 21-Nov-19 11:48:03

You could ask them
MawB; as you know I'm a MAN and if you read other threads you'll know we won't take advice or directions from WOMEN!
hmm .

Callistemon Wed 20-Nov-19 14:06:53

I don't know what you mean though Rufus

When a thread reaches 1,000 posts it closes and no more posts can be added.

GNHQ rules.

This one's got a long way to go but it could fizzle out well before then.

MawB Wed 20-Nov-19 10:58:46

I imagine it is for a practical reason to stop threads becoming impenetrably lengthy.
You could ask them.

Rufus2 Wed 20-Nov-19 10:18:28

By The Founding Fathers do you mean GNHQ, Rufus?
No! You know what I mean! wink

Maw; Please read my post! I'm simply asking WHY?

Callistemon Wed 20-Nov-19 09:52:12

By The Founding Fathers do you mean GNHQ, Rufus?

Be afraid, be very afraid .....

MawB Wed 20-Nov-19 09:37:08

A thread is limited to 1000 posts Rufus - after that you have to start a new one.

Rufus2 Wed 20-Nov-19 09:31:10

all are welcome there until we reach the required 1000
Lemongrove; What the devil does that mean? Who "required" it and why? Seems much like that other stupid commandment " Thou shalt not comment on a thread within a thread", or "we'll shut you down, so there!"
Isn't it time these "Founding Fathers" type rules were given the boot. slung out or otherwise cremated? confused

Hi Rufus?
Wondered where you'd gone, like me I guess just occasionally driven (!) to comment, the naughty stool in a corner with me on it now and then!!!

Rufus2 Tue 19-Nov-19 10:44:15

I then suggested cliquey but was assured that is not the case
Megs: G'Day! Nice to meet you again! How are you faring with the "naughty stool"? Or have you reformed? grin
Cliques have been present throughout my journey in life, from kindergarten, work, sports, particularly lawn bowls clubs, and retirement homes. No reason why GN shouldn't have its fair share, but so what? I simply look at the big picture and enjoy! grin

You're all far too scary when you've had a pint or two wink
I came in to clean up once but beat a hasty retreat

Doodle Mon 18-Nov-19 19:20:02

There you go. All welcome in the Argy between now and the closing down sale at 1000 posts. Come on in and drink us dry. Mine’s a pint of the hard stuff by the way ?

Megs36 Mon 18-Nov-19 16:26:27

Good to know the 'old time' posters have given their permissions to do anything you like ??

lemongrove Mon 18-Nov-19 14:06:57

Well, she will have to be quick Doodle as I am closing the bar at Christmas, as you know from our conversations, the rents are too high and our high jinks there are almost at an end.
Still, all are welcome there until we reach the required 1000
Posts or Christmas, whichever comes first.?
Cheers! wine

grapefruitpip I think you will find someone started an alternative to soop’s kitchen under the title of the Argy Bargy. As a poster on both I can say you would be welcome to drop into the kitchen with a cake or into the Argy if you have something exotic in spandex to wear and are prepared to drink the other punters under the table ?

Rufus2 Mon 18-Nov-19 13:02:48

I have NO recollection of you or anybody else being “slapped down”
Maw; Remember me? wink I'm the poster from OZ referred to elsewhere and the one who was reported for flirting and was "deleted" along with a whole thread. Happy memories! grin,
Btw . it would help me if you could nominate who you are addressing with your post! In this case I know.
Your memory is fading because I can still feel your slaps, but have no fear , I'm a gentleman and wouldn't dream of snitching. [halo]
I understand you haven't been well lately so I wish you Good Health. OoRoo

Rufus2 Mon 18-Nov-19 12:26:50

Well in my naivete I thought this thread was going to be about contacting old school friends
Fennel; so did I, except I'm wondering more about absent GNetters such as livewires who were at my 91st. virtual birthday bash; Oopsadaisy, PECS. Jalima etc. They simply vanish! How and why? confused

Rufus2 Mon 18-Nov-19 11:58:55

I might start Ploops kitchen
Grapefruit; Can't stop laughing! You've triggered off my (very) long-term memory as to when we were potty training our boys, now 60 and 62 !! We had to wait patiently until the first "drop" Thenceforth it became known as going "plop-plops" So I don't think I'll be visiting your cafe, but good luck. grin.

Gonegirl Mon 18-Nov-19 10:18:33

Mmm. Egg on toast. (and I've already had my porridge)

Callistemon Mon 18-Nov-19 10:15:27

I may be up but in no fit state to communicate like Mick that early in the morning.
I run on auto until after at least two cups of tea and an egg on toast.

Gonegirl Mon 18-Nov-19 09:58:01

Mick is always up earlier than me. But that's not difficult.

annep1 Mon 18-Nov-19 09:53:56

Thank you for the kind comments but it maybe indicates that we are a clique.

Yep! GM club sure sounds like it.

MawB Mon 18-Nov-19 09:20:05

As you say “selective empties eazybee.
The “blackballing/cold shoulder issue was blown up out of all proportion and I certainly have no recollection of those precise terms being used.
