Right, kitcheners, get busy. You know the routine. The tin of flapjacks to keep you going is in the corner with a kettle. The water's already on.

New year greetings to all. Wishing my virtual friends the best year possible

Been asleep for a lot of today and it’s likely the same tomorrow so wishing you all well while I’m awake. TOYA.

I am giving in and heading for my bed

Happy New year all xxx

annsixty Tue 31-Dec-19 23:36:56

Very very unusual for me I am still very much awake, although in my bed.
As things stand I will be awake at midnight, the first time for many years.
I have a small bottle of Prosecco on my bedside table which I will drink at 12 am.
I wish all my virtual friends in the kitchen all they wish for themselves in the coming year.

Unusually, I am wide awake, so Hello, the Kitchen and a very and Peaceful Happy New Year to one and all! Now, where’s me G&T......?

2019 has probably been the most difficult year in my entire life. And I know 2020 will be tough to. But I’m staying positive! I have a small bottle of cava which my lovely DD has provided to open shortly. My very best wishes to all my friends in the kitchen and a happy new year to you all. ? ? xx

I have decided I am misery guts personified.
I went to bed early with Tara to watch Billy Elliot. Fireworks started at 10 pm but no problem they were a distance away.

I then read my book, settled down to sleep and at midnight my immediate neighbours decided to start their fireworks party. It does not normally bother Tara but she was on a chair beside the window, probably felt they were coming into my bedroom so she fled the country. I felt so sorry for her. Anyway, it was all over within half an hour.

It is dry but dark here- I will be taking down the remainder of the Christmas cards and making a vague attempt to get this house in order.
TOYA

Anneliese I think of you and your DH often even though you seldom post.

Sending best wishes to all my friends in the kitchen and may your 2020 be as smooth as it can be.
Thank you all so much for the support you have given me this year. It has helped me a lot.

Synonymous Wed 01-Jan-20 11:36:45

Wishing everyone the very best possible for 2020. Thank you for all the encouragement and support you have each given to each other. I have personally drawn extra strength from the collective kitchen spirit and am so thankful for it, even though it is virtual the support is nonetheless real and helpful.
Bless you soop you are clearly a lady of vision! flowers

Well, New Years Day, and we got to take our enormous, stupid Christmas tree down as we were getting SAD!! To herald its departure, I wrote a poem, which I will share with you. You all know the tune, I’m sure (some bits might not fit!).
?
Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree
How large we see thee looming.
You make our room a cave of gloom
And frankly I am fuming!

We decked your boughs with baubles gay
And lights that twinkle brightly
But we can’t see our new tv,
And miss our programmes nightly!

The day my DH brought you home
I have to say in fairness,
He is a gent of good intent
But lacks spatial awareness.

So, Christmas tree, it’s time to bid
A fond farewell to thee.
Now all is bright with broad daylight
And we can watch tv! (Yay!)

When next the Yuletide rears it’s head,
We’ll find new space for you,
Where you can spread your branches dread
And really have your due,
We’ll plug you in and let your lights
Beguile us night and day.
You can shine bright until Twelfth Night -
And not get in our way!!!?
?

greyduster that’s fantastic. What a lovely picture I have in my mind of your room this Christmas tchgrin ?

cornergran Wed 01-Jan-20 14:43:26

Love it greyd. tchgrin. Now settle with the tv controls, a brew or maybe even a large glass of well deserved wine.

We’ve also removed all things festive today, still speaking to each other which is pretty good going considering the number of items that somehow became invisible to Mr C when he was passing things up to me in the loft. No energy to go back today so they will be in an almost neat heap until the next ascent. He blamed the cough. hmm . Specsavers tomorrow tchgrin.

soop Wed 01-Jan-20 14:54:48

You lot are the best with bells on.

Thank you for all your messages and ongoing support throughout the year. If I can, I shall keep our kitchen open and welcoming until there is no visitor to share "stuff" with.

I wish you all peace and health and enough of whatever it is that you need to sustain you throughout 2020.

Greyduster Very clever! tchgrin

We stayed up until Mons Meg (the cannon at Edinburgh Castle) signalled the beginning of the new year. After which, I found it difficult to get to sleep.

soop Wed 01-Jan-20 17:35:44

So, the old word that I'm sharing with you is...'Forewallowed'...Weary from tossing and turning in bed all night. I've a feeling that I shall sleep soundlier tonight.

Back again in our kitchen tomorrow. When I may take the decorations down and pack carefully away for next Christmas. Oh joy!

TOYA Especially those kitcheners who have problems of one sort or another to deal with. May a few extra positive vibes travel in your direction.

smile moon
