Harry & Meghan stepping back from RF

So to sum up, after 38 pages of posts, the consensus of opinion seems to be that H&M can do what they like as long as British taxpayers don't have to foot the bill, but we think they've handled the whole situation very badly, treated the Queen hurtfully and disrespectfully, and we don't care what colour Meghan is, but there are things about her that we just don't like.

Seems a shame that `reasons` are being put forward like racism, too much media attention, not a big enough part to play here etc. If they choose to live elsewhere that`s up to them. Just don`t blame the UK.

Although dare I say I rather like her (and no, I don't know her) but perhaps she misjudged what being part of the RF was. I think she thought she could carry on with her women's rights, empowering women campaigns but was probably reined in by the courtiers.

Exactly lucywinter.What do any of us really know about the RF.? Take the Queen for example. We can say with conviction that she likes corgis and racehorsing but we don't really know what she is like as a person. She says very little publicly and there is some justification for her being called "Elizabeth the Silent ". Good for her but that gives us no right to comment on her character.

It's not nastiness. It's a discussion - opinions are based on observations, information and experience.

The Queen has been around mostly all of our lives. This is a crisis similar to the abdication. It's certainly a modern day equivalent. We went out for lunch yesterday and you could hear people on tables either side of us discussing Harry and Meghan. Feelings are bound to run a bit high on both sides of the argument.

I think most of us hope they will be happy and find their own way but not at our expense.
