I feel sorry for Prince Harry

After looking at all the news reports etc I have come to the conclusion that Harry is really stuck in the middle of his wife and the RF. Meghan married Harry very quickly, which can cause difficulties in ‘normal’ families, but with the emotionally constipated RF it was a disaster waiting to happen. If someone like Diana, who had experience of royalty couldn’t cope with the way of life or the hold the courtiers have over proceedings, how could a feisty American. Catherine has only managed it because she and William took a very long time to get her settled into the RF.
Moving to a new country, getting married, having a baby and trying to fit into the RF is a heavy burden, and then being bullied completely by the press is enough to make anyone crack. The daily mail is still dredging up anyone they can to slate Meghan and Harry.
Harry is trying to protect his wife, and according to recent reports, has tried to initiate changes but has been rebuffed at every stage. I would think that seeing the photos on the Queen’s desk didn’t show him or Meghan or their son was hurtful and an indication that they no longer counted. The further photos of the 4 reigning/next in line would surely have pushed home that point.
Harry has slumped down the line of succession, the same thing that happened to Andrew, Anne and Edward. But they had each other to share this change of status and that surely made matters easier.
I think Harry feels very alone and impotent and is trying very hard to change things for his wife, but has had to make a huge fuss to get anyone to listen. If you add in his own personal problems then I am very surprised that he is still trying to go forward instead of just giving up. Perhaps now the RF will abandon their stiff upper lip and treat Harry better than they did Diana.
Sorry for long waffle.

I don't remember hearing that Harry wanted out of the Royal family before he met Meghan?

merlotgran Fri 17-Jan-20 13:00:48

vegansrock, The photos have been issued from the SussexRoyal website.

Meghan has got her wish to 'hit the ground running' at last.

No doubt there will be daily updates from this publicity shy celebrity. grin

Annie spot on! There is a huge difference between saying what you think of a person in the limelight to saying the same thing of your fellow posters on GN.GracesGran says she doesn’t get that.... I imagine/hope that most posters do.

Harry and Meghan were fools in chasing this court case about Markle Senior and his letter. All sorts will come out now by the time the case ends.
Meghan has only given the royal life a go for a couple of years, now wants to move on ( with the title and tiara) and also with something she seems keen on, a sense of victimhood, the ‘poor little me’ syndrome.
Living in Canada will work out for her.....until it doesn’t, and then it will be back to the US.

lemongrove Fri 17-Jan-20 13:06:27

Merlot.....don’t look at me! I’m shy?

JenniferEccles Fri 17-Jan-20 13:06:57

Every single piece of criticism of Meghan which I have read here and in newspapers is completely justified, so the few who have come on here to complain about what has been discussed are wrong.

I haven’t seen anything written on here which could be described as ‘vile’ as in the main most have just struggled to understand how it could have all gone so wrong when, as an aide said, H and M were given everything they wanted.

It soon became clear though that even that wasn’t enough for this spoilt manipulative woman.

Examples of her demanding selfish nature have been given many times, and by now they are almost too numerous to mention.

I’m sure H will eventually come to his senses and return home.

Exactly veganstock. Similar events undertaken by Kate and Meghan, have been reported very differently. There was a good example given on BBC Politics Live at lunchtime, about the way Meghan "cradling the bump" caused an outbreak of vitriol in the press, opposed to similar "cradling" by Kate, which was described as protective.
Remarks on here in the main just mirror prejudice shown by the press.

annsixty Fri 17-Jan-20 13:15:36

It is now reported that she didn’t actually visit the women’s refuge, just the headquarters to meet a few staff.
Her security offers would not have been allowed in as it is women only.

Some may admire writing on bananas- you are brave ‘ you
are strong’ for prostitutes , I do not, it was bloody patronising.

Or visiting and making a speech to women in Africa complaining on tv, ‘ no one asked me if I was ok’ , this about
her pregnancy and birth of her child’, she was flooded with
gifts , cards and letters from people in this country.

SirChenjin Fri 17-Jan-20 13:33:00

Greeneyedgirl - that criticism works both ways. For example, Waity Katey was criticised for being a poor role model for young women because she didn't work and hung about for Wills whilst her parents funded her lifestyle, whereas Meghan was hailed as a strong, succesful career woman who wanted to use her voice to empower others.

I don't think there's a senior royal who hasn't come in for criticism at some point.

Jane10 Fri 17-Jan-20 13:40:35

Kate just patiently sat it out. Meghan shouldn't have been given the oxygen of publicity.

Anniebach Fri 17-Jan-20 13:52:06

All the senior royals have been criticised, Fergie really got a
hammering being compared to Diana. Charles ? Years of daily
critcism and Camilla, Edward was a wimp for leaving the army, Sophie was trying to be Diana because she had a short hair style and heaven forbid was blonde. Anne was horsey,
Phillip ? born in Greece, oh horror of horror . And the Queen
has had her share too.

vegansrock

some of us have perception.....I can see by a person's actions clues to their personality.
it is a life skill. a survival skill even.
M played the UK for fame and money.
Can't you see that she beams into the cameras?

That even now Here She Is again! How did you think those photos were taken?
She wants it.
Too silly for words to defend her by saying it is good publicity....she has a baby why isn't she with him?
What does she get from going to the offices?
She gets her photo taken.

Bridgeit Fri 17-Jan-20 13:56:35

Wow , is there no end to the self justification of the bitchy spitefulness of the anti Meghan posters on here .
Ok don’t like her , don’t approve, but to pretend that you feel for Harry really ! really ? what a funny way of showing it .
Why torture yourselves on a daily basis?
Go for a walk, catch a rainbow , think how lucky you not to be constantly criticised, scrutinised etc etc, but don’t try to justify your distasteful, comments.

SirChenjin Fri 17-Jan-20 14:19:54

Wow - what hyperbole Bridgeit. I suggest you take a leaf out of your own book and stop worrying about what other people are posting.

Bridgeit Fri 17-Jan-20 14:23:49

Thank you for your comment, did I hit a nerve ?

Bridgeit Fri 17-Jan-20 14:24:48

I am disgusted & ashamed not worried .

Anniebach Fri 17-Jan-20 14:53:57

Bridgeit you do your share of criticising, you choose to criticise posters , perhaps you should go for a walk , catch a rainbow instead of reading threads which seem to cause you
distress/anger.

You are no different to other posters here, you criticise

Bridgeit Fri 17-Jan-20 14:56:30

Give it up Annie, there are no excuses.

Jane10 Fri 17-Jan-20 15:00:51

We don't need excuses to comment on this or any other forum. Not everyone agrees on everything. It's life!

Bridgeit Fri 17-Jan-20 15:06:52

Correction , There are no excuses for hounding folks who cannot respond directly to the hounder(s)

tickingbird Fri 17-Jan-20 15:11:54

Bridgeit They aren’t aware so they aren’t being hounded and they have no need to respond. Stop policing this forum please.

Fennel Fri 17-Jan-20 15:13:20

Bridgeit - I tend to agree with you.
Except, one question - should we expect higher standards of behaviour from members of the RF than in the general public?
And from politicians if it comes to that.
After all they're supposed to be our leaders, or representatives at least.

PernillaVanilla Fri 17-Jan-20 15:14:11

Am I the only one who has some concerns about the state of Harry's marriage? She is in Canada, seemingly being independent, certainly not taking Archie out and about with her even to meet her friend at the airport. He is apparently not going back until the royal conundrum is resolved. There is now talk of her never returning to the UK, this sounds distinctly odd to me.

Bridgeit Fri 17-Jan-20 15:15:57

Because they are not aware doesn’t make it ok.
But you are correct about one aspect , I don’t belong here, thankfully. Happy bitching for those of you who enjoy it.
