Love or loathe Tattoos

Not for me! I know they are considered quite fashionable, and many people I know have one or more - but personally, I don't like them.

always hated them, but recently my daughter had a beautiful, very tasteful one done on her boob after breast cancer! Now she loves the boob (reconstructed) rather than hating it.

My mum and dad paid for me to have a tattoo when I turned forty. Dad booked it and they both paid for it. I've since had my nose pierced and I absolutely love it.

They're ugly.

I have one very small tasteful one. Not visible unless I wear swimwear. I know that sometimes they are called Tramp stamps. I like mine though. X

For nurses they were a taboo, certainly I wouldn't have employed any nurse with visible tattoo's. When my young grandson was admitted to hospital as an emergency, a nurse who was tattooed over her neck, up to her jaw line, all of her arms and hands, with piercings in her eyebrows, lip and ears, with Goth makeup and blue and black hair, terrified the 2 year old and didn't fill either my daughter in law, my son or myself with much positivity. If you work as a professional, in a field where artistic expression isn't ideal, then please, think twice.

Don’t see the point..... I’ve been given a perfectly good skin ... why would I mutilate it with tattoos or piercings.

Old age is a great leveller, I think.

Older people all tend to look like what they are, flaws, tattoos, scars, amputations and all.

Exactly how people who have lived life should look.

I haven't got any or anyone in my family, but I can appreciate how beautiful some of them look. What I don't like is that they're permanent. Surely you would get fed up of them eventually. I don't know why someone hasn't come up with the idea of ones that wear off after a few years! I might have one if they did

I think you can get semi permanent tattoos (still not sure how to spell it!)

The ones that are done on reconstructed breasts are semi permanent, so I presume they must be available elsewhere?

When I went for my interview years ago as a potential student nurse, we were informed that any tattoos that were visible would adversely affect the outcome . They also look awful on the elderly , unless they were applied differently years ago ? But no I dislike them . Sorry

Never liked tattoos and what makes me laugh is how people plead poverty/ claim to be in debt etc yet are willing to splash out on tattoos all in the name of ‘art’ or ‘rebellion’. More like ‘follow that sheep’ syndrome!

I always thought I would never have a tattoo but I was diagnosed with cancer in 2017 . Part of my treatment was radiotherapy and I was shocked to be told I would need three small tattoos in order to line up my body to target the cancer. This also helps speed up the process for the patient and for all the other patients in the waiting room.
So there can be benefits to having tattoos.

Oh for heaven's sake. I'm not a fan of tattoos, but I wouldn't begrudge people who do like them having one on the grounds that they are skint.

If someone likes tattoos, it's no different from liking anything other form of art (why the sneering ' '?) and if they want to save up what money they do have and get one done, why would it make you laugh? Live and let live.

Dislike piercings and tattooes, they make my stomach turn over.

My younger son has several,on his back,arms,legs and one to cover up his tattooed wedding ring finger.I personally don't like them,but can appreciate that they are works of art.His tell a Japanese story,and some are a tribute to his favourite musician and motorcycle racing.They cost an absolute fortune to have done,about £500 for a day's work on them.I'd prefer to spend the money on something more worthwhile,but each to his own.

I would love to have a tattoo on my mastectomy scar. I have read about women having this done, although mostly on partial mastectomies. The women say they have made them feel better about their bodies, to have taken some control.
Some of the designs are quite beautiful, and I have my own in mind.

I don’t know how to find a tattooist who would be competent and artistic enough to do it though.
Looking at the artwork of local tattooists on line they are most definitely on the Gothic side, and I suspect just taken from a catalogue.

I don’t mind visible tattoos on people. Their preference is no business of mine. I did once see a young woman with half her face quite densely tattooed though, and I felt she must be quite troubled to do that, almost like a type of self harm. I don’t think the tattooist should have done it.

I designed a small image of an owl (my mum loved owls) and had it tattooed on the inside of my right wrist. I had just gone through really rough years - my 25 year marriage had failed, my husband was on affair no 7, my 25 year old daughter had been diagnosed with cancer and my mum died suddenly. I felt I needed to do something completely out of character to give myself a shake and to remember my mum. A bit drastic maybe but I have not regretted it. My 3 girls all in their 20s loved it but my 12 year old grandson hated it.

Was talking to this chap few years ago, he had his pet tattooed on his arm, a rottweiler ...he had some of its ashes put into the ink somehow!!!

Tattoos are are sign of stupidity and most people have them to follow so called celebrities who have more money than they can possibly spend so they waste it.
