Happy Chinese New Year!

It’s the Year of The Rat
The Personality of the Rat may resonate with anyone who has ever had a pet rat? ? They are the most fabulous pets, or so I am told .....
People born in the Year of the Rat are characterised as smart, resourceful and quick-witted. They have great imaginations and make sharp observations, with the ability to take advantage of several opportunities.

I am not ashamed to say I am a rat, as is my SIL but I would have to say it with a big smile as he is the best SIL you could wish for.
I have also read that to meet challenges head-on in “”my” year, I should wear red underwear every day!
As if that’s going to happen grin
Any more Rats on GN?

Don't know what I am. But I believe that rats make absolutely wonderful pets. However that's an awful lot of red undies you will need to buy if you have to wear them every day. Even allowing for the fact that they are washed and reused!! Wonder what the cash out queue at M&S will think when you arrive with that lot???

You are very lucky to be a rat. I worked for many years at the Medical Research Council and got to know many rats. They are clean bright friendly lovable creatures. We owe them a lot. Millions get used for medical research all the time but because people are taught to hate them licenses don’t gave to be applied for, same with mice. I had a pet rat too. So much discrimination that serves a purpose. It’s true they are opportunists (like us) and will use their wits to survive. But then I’m a rooster and will strut and make a racket.

Im a Fire Rooster, married to a Metal Snake!
There has always been plenty of metal in my husbands life after a 50yr career in the Contruction industry, but he still has a passion for all things metal, loves going around Steam Rallies and Railway museums, but sadly no longer works with metal like he used to do.

As for the Fire Rooster, does a liking for KFC count lol?

I'm a dragon. My children are dog, rat and dragon. My grandchildren are horse, rooster and about to be rat.

Ceaser15 Sun 26-Jan-20 10:59:37

Yes, I’m a rat as well and proud of it. My little brother is also a rat. Not sure about the red underwear though!!

You’re welcome Chris0
?

I realised there would be a few of us 1954 babies on here, that’s why I posted the longer thread - it wasn’t ‘all about me’ truly. I thought a few wooden horses might find it interesting!

rowanflower0 Sun 26-Jan-20 11:21:37

I am a dragon, and a leo - double whammy!!!!

Merryweather Sun 26-Jan-20 11:30:28

Rats are the most fabulous pets. Very sociable, clean, friendly, curious. Quite fascinating.

I'm a monkey. A metal one at that, I'm feeling very heavy and imobile today. Our son will be a rat. I'm not sure what the girls are. 2011 and 2014.

Diggingdoris Sun 26-Jan-20 11:43:32

Just looked up what I am. Apparently I'm a gold rabbit! Any other 1951 GNs out there?

grannie7 Sun 26-Jan-20 12:13:05

grannie7 Sun 26-Jan-20 12:15:46

How would you find out what the difference between a metal snakes and just a snake

lindadoughty650 Sun 26-Jan-20 12:46:20

I too am a Dragon and a Leo - and tend to wear purple underwear.

Step4gran Sun 26-Jan-20 12:48:14

I'm a monkey, OH a rooster and DS a snake. No idea if we are typical - I will have to go have a read

Fennel Sun 26-Jan-20 12:51:13

I'm a Rat as well. I was a bit upset at first when I found out, but as other Rats have said, we have many positive qualities.
From another zodiac, I'm a Fish.

DillytheGardener Sun 26-Jan-20 13:17:00

I had no idea either, but I’m also a Dragon. I will have to research to see if the characteristics fit my my personality or not!

Rufus2 Sun 26-Jan-20 13:42:11

and tend to wear purple underwear
Linda Cor! Thanks for that image. grin I'll take it to bed and hope for sweet dreams; past the witching hour ,again!

I'm a Capricorn Horse, apparently.

GreenGran78 Sun 26-Jan-20 14:31:12

I am a rabbit and a Leo. My character is somewhere between the two. I am pretty placid, and rarely lose my temper, but I won’t let myself be pushed around either

Rosyanne Sun 26-Jan-20 14:38:40

I have been casting people’s Ming Shui for some time. This is where we look at not only the year, the animal, the elements that support those, the season, fortnight, day and hour of birth. Therefore, even though people are born in the same year, many many other attributes apply.

grannybuy Sun 26-Jan-20 15:03:34

I'm also a rat.

stmoritz Sun 26-Jan-20 15:09:53

I'm a rat! I'm going that this is a good sign, as I do need some good luck this year! grin

timetogo2016 Sun 26-Jan-20 15:12:15

I am a rat and your thread is spot on, that is me to a Tee.

Mamma66 Sun 26-Jan-20 15:48:54

I’m a horse, and a fire horse at that

chrissyh Sun 26-Jan-20 16:34:15

A rat is an amazing pet. My DD wanted one and, although I said no way as I hate their tails, she managed to talk us round and we all absolutely loved him. He was very clean and so intelligent. He soon learned to open his cage (which was in DD's room) and would come and go as he pleased. When you picked him up he climbed onto your shoulder and would sit there while you walked around. If we couldn't find him, we just called his name and he came. We only had him for 2 years but he was such a character and really missed.

By the way, I am a pig and my DH a rat.
