So much going on in the kitchen. I have read everything but am so sleepy now (busy doing housework!! ?) early night for me so just to say TOYA ?

grannyqueenie Thu 13-Feb-20 03:23:30

Typical, I was so tired last night that I could hardly keep my eyes open and here I am wide awake. I’ve been sleeping so much better of late that I was almost beginning to believe that nights like this were a thing if the past, seemingly not sad. Not great timing as we have a long journey south tomorrow, or rather today, to see our son and his family so I have decanted to the spare bed in the hope that I don’t disturb the old boy who will do most and probably now all of the driving.

Well you’ve done it AGAIN soop, these photos are doing my blood pressure no good at all! I’m another one prone to clumsiness. I think my legs were always odd lengths and in my late 50’s/early 60’s between a deteriorating hip, a Haglands bump on one heel and bouts of Achilles tendonitis I fell over my own feet a good few times. Fortunately my hip replacement seems to have evened me up a bit, well until the dodgy knees came into play making me a bit wonky once again.

n&g Sam sounds very like our springer who would eat just about anything if it was barely concealed in a teaspoonful of strawberry jam! Ages ago *synonymous you asked where my recent photos were taken, Fountains Abbey is the answer to that one. Glad to see you enjoy it there too Alygran, the snowdrops were beautiful but the light wasn’t quite right to capture the best of them.

Lins sorry to hear that you have had family sadness as well as health issues to contend with ? Thinking of you and everyone who has “stuff” going on. Right then I’d better at least try to get some sleep, I’ll be a better travelling companion if I succeed! Night all! x

As per, you lot haven't been napping. No way! Now I have to read through all your messages before I can respond.

Before I do...Mila, our great granddaughter will be having a brother or sister at sometime in August. She doesn't know yet. It's far too early at 12 weeks BUT she was happy to be photographed holding a certain unknown scan...grin

soop Thu 13-Feb-20 11:58:07

granniequeenie Wishing you safe travels to see your family. The weather is less turbulent here in Kintyre. Almost all the snow has disappeared from the mountain tops. Please may you have an uneventful journey.

Doodle I do an awful lot of housework in my dreams. Does that mean that my subconscious is trying to make me feel guilty? wink

soop Thu 13-Feb-20 12:06:21

N&G Have you managed to mop up after the deluge?
Sam has only ever looked kind of smart. He's a handsome lad.
You are the very kindest of grandparents. Your grandson will have been mortified at breaking Dad's special glass. Lovely of you to replace it on his behalf.

Charleyg Another buggeration to tick off your list. Did you let the minicab firm know how let down you've been?
Hair do day. hmm I often think that a brisk westerly breeze helps to make freshly coiffed hair look more natural.

Kitcheners- I have received the following message about Panache from her nurses :

" She was taken extremely ill in November and after weeks in hospital, resulting finally in a major life saving operation. She continues to be well cared for in ITU with wound etc dressed daily and will be for many months ahead it appears.
She has again drastically lost weight and now unable to take her Ensures which are causing added concern.
Her dear man has equally put up a tremendous fight to be at her side, but sadly the toll is proving far too much, he is now gravely unwell.
As you will appreciate, life is and has been extremely difficult for many months.
Contrary to last year though, they are ably supported by friends, the church, and their new home mates, plus the medics in many forms.
Prayers are said daily. Please do not expect to hear from Joan herself for a long while, but be assured she is thinking of you all.
Please inform her Gransnet pals if possible. "

Thankyou

Lins1066", thank you so much for telling us what has happened to the Panaches. What a shame that they are having such troubles, but thank goodness the support network is there for them this time. It's been obvious for some time that something drastic must have happened as *Panache" was such a regular poster, an ever present source of love and comfort to others. I really hope that she and *MrP can find healing and comfort, and that they know how much they have been in our thoughts these last weeks.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 13-Feb-20 14:02:46

Thank you Lins1066 for updating us flowers

kittylester Thu 13-Feb-20 14:11:28

How thoughtful of panache, her nurse and you Lins. And how sad. Send her our love if it is possible.

I've just caught up but haven't really any chance of posting. Life is somewhat hectic here.

We have our voices staying, pkler fitters here, electricians due any time at all and it's very cold.

TOYA

Izabella Thu 13-Feb-20 14:14:25

Thank you Lins

Cherrytree59 Thu 13-Feb-20 14:33:00

Dont post often in Soops
but do lurk in the corner.?

I have been wondering and keeping my fingers crossed that there would be some news re Panache and her husband.

So thank you so much Lins for passing on their news.
So thoughtful of Panache to get news to her Gransnet pals.

kittylester Thu 13-Feb-20 14:48:22

soop Thu 13-Feb-20 14:55:15

Thank you, Lins1066 it was thoughtful of Panache and the nurse to let us know what is happening. It has been an ongoing worry. Both are in the best possible care. Moving house was a very wise decision. flowers

Cherrytree Lurk ye not. We enjoy your company. If there any of Baggs flapjacks going spare (in our dreams) we'll sit together in a cosy corner and enjoy our treat.

kitty grin

Cherrytree59 Thu 13-Feb-20 15:03:54

Thank you soop a coorie up in the corner and one of Baggs flapjacks would be lovely. smile

All I can offer on the homemade front is a few fatballs for the birds.
as made on Blue Peter in 1900 and frozen to death

Susan56 Thu 13-Feb-20 15:06:27

Thank you Lins.So sorry to hear how unwell the Panache’s are but relieved that they have such support in place.

soop Thu 13-Feb-20 15:11:13

Cherrytree Our fiesty flock of birds would be most grateful for a handful of fat balls. Blue Peter...now that's when television made programmes well worth watching.

Feeling so blessed because a parcel has been delivered ( from someone whose name begins with s and ends in p) containing two beautiful paintings of Baker which capture his essence perfectly. They will always be treasured.

Baker is obviously feeling much better today. He has found his purr again, was a bit playful before sleep overcame him and has demanded food in no uncertain terms.

All in all, a lovely day in spite of the pouring rain.

Fennel Thu 13-Feb-20 16:41:11

Thanks to Lins for news of Panache and her husband. Even though it's all sad.
But it's good to know there are caring people around when our lives come to this.

soop Thu 13-Feb-20 16:59:48

chicken Bravo to our brave boy cat. He's a champ.

I'm on a polish around the house mission. We'll be meeting with son and lady friend this weekend. The weather is glorious and all I ask is...please be kind to us over the coming weekend. There will be a fair bit of travelling for all of us.

TOYA and wishing you a pleasant evening.

I shall be back for a short time tomorrow. smile moon

Bellanonna Thu 13-Feb-20 17:06:54

Thank you Lins for the update on the Panaches. How sad for them, but it was good of Panache to get the message to us.
Thankfully they have what sounds like a good support system around them.

mrshat Thu 13-Feb-20 17:24:49

Thank you Lins for information re the Panaches. How sad for them but so good of Panache to organise letting you know their situation. A remarkable woman!

Bellanonna Thu 13-Feb-20 17:29:13

Isn’t Mila just gorgeous, soop?

cornergran Thu 13-Feb-20 18:07:34

Thank you lins, my thanks to you and all involved in getting the message to us, love to panache and her husband,

Mila is a beauty soop, exciting times ahead.

That was a kerfuffle charley, hope you’re recovered.

As my Mum used to say you’ll soon meet yourself coming back kitty. Hope you’re all warm and cozy now.

Hope your journey has been uneventful grannyq, sleep well tonight.

Very sad this afternoon, the most recent news of our young friends illness is truly heartbreaking. Serious decisions have been made today, foolish I know but I keep thinking it could be one of ours.

On the positive side many tedious tasks have been tackled today, goodness knows why I procrastinate, it’s always a good feeling when these things are done.

stay safe everyone.

NanaandGrampy Thu 13-Feb-20 18:10:41

Evening all,

Sad but not unexpected news from the Panaches , heres hoping they both get all the support they need.

Mile is so sweet *Soop and congrats another new baby for your family. How lovely !!

Glad to hear Baker is definitely on the mend. Onwards and upwards Sir Cat!!

Indeed GrannieQ Sam is a typical Cavalier and if its not nailed down he'll eat it. If its yours he'll eat it . If it LOOKS like it might be his ….well you see where I'm going with this!!
I find if I hold it up to my mouth and say yum yum, that's all the encouragement he needs :-)

The glass was collected and will be delivered on Monday when we pick up the young chap and he can give it to his Dad with his apologies. I hope the weather picks up a bit as his 2 requests were a trip to the zoo and a day in the forest den building !!

Galen just to say I purchased the magnesium spray and its totally done the trick. So thank you so much for the advice !!

Happy evening all !!
