Charley we do indeed have a lovely family for which we are very thankful. Our DS certainly has a way with words and expresses himself in a way quite unique. We all know that the written word doesn't often convey precisely what we would wish but in that regard he is often priceless.
Our DD lives about 6 hours away atm and has spent every school holiday back home since the crash doing batch baking and cooking for the freezer and generally helping us. She is absolutely amazing and very much on my wavelength and we won't have problems with her moving back in with us so long as we all respect each other's needs and privacy. I have managed to get agreement from Himself for her to have the study as her 'snug' and we intend putting in a 'wrap around ensuite' in our larger spare room for her so she will have her own space to escape to. She loves cooking and gardening as we do too. She hopes to continue to teach part time so will have outside interests and friends eventually and as she won't have the expenses she has currently then her smaller salary shouldn't be a problem. Her being here would help with the driving issues ultimately and she would undoubtedly help to manage travel and holidays. I find it less than easy to manage all the extras like wheelchair, legs, crutches etc. so help would be wonderful.
Oooh, the very thought of a holiday makes me go all lollopy!

Syn I hope you got to sleep soon after your post. It sounds like you have exciting plans.
I keep getting a hankering for a holiday and had been looking for something about now but we thought we would wait for the builders to completely finish. Very glad, as the quarantined hotel in the Canaries had been a possible!
I think that now we have time, I would like to do some more of the UK and also revisit places like Northumberland. (If it ever stops raining for more than a few hours!)
Off to Orford today to see the lighthouse, before it is demolished due to storm damage.

We did have a flash of sun very briefly but it’s gone now.

I was sitting in my dressing gown after 12 o’clock when the window cleaner appeared.
I wasn’t even embarrassed, the house is so untidy and even that isn’t concerning me.

My S is away for a few days and my GD is getting settled into a new job and and is tired and distracted so no help there.

I have a really difficult weekend ahead, not saying much as I am becoming aware of privacy issues which is inhibiting me posting too much, let me just say my ex-DiL is remarrying and I have reluctantly agreed to go to the meal, this is purely to keep someone else happy who wouldn’t otherwise go.

I am dreading it.

I have felt sorry for myself and bored you all long enough so I send very best wishes to all, especially those much worse off than me, you know who you are.

chicken* The big, old house may be a listed property. I hope so. We also enjoy the company of crows. All birds are welcome on our patch.

I do feel for you. I can have black days like that as well. Sometimes I just sit and cry.
All I can say is that eventually it goes and I’m ok again. I do think the sun helps and long for when summer comes and I can sit on my patio under the vine looking at the plants Gary so helpfully tends for me, enjoying the bird song and relaxing in the blissful warmth of the magic golden rays.

Synonymous You are blest with a caring family. If your daughter moves in with you...perfect! The plan sounds do-able and all parties will benefit.

ann I've been a hole very like the one that your are in. I took myself to off to talk candidly to our GP. For a time, I was prescribed medication. It worked. I'm recovered. You need to discuss your feelings with someone who can help you through this phase. Please look after yourself. You are precious.

Dear Ann, please be gentle with yourself, talk to your GP a short course of meds may just give you a little help on the way to getting back to you.

We have blue sky and can see the sun here, I have been to the gym and now sitting down before what I think shall be very noisy and raucous family meal tonight for one of my babies 40th birthday celebrations It is in one of our favourite local restaurants......they have been pre-warned

I'm sorry you are feeling low at the moment annsixty and I hope that the weekend won't be as difficult as you fear. I think, too, that these awful wet, windy and grey days, which seem to be lasting forever, don't help us.

The sun is out here too with a blustery wind, I have sheets on the line under a barrage of pegs.
We are going into town to get an 80th birthday card for our next door neighbour. Our other neighbour who fell down the stairs last week has a broken hip and a broken arm. She will be in hospital for 2 weeks.

Galen it looks so relaxing with sunshine and shade. I also would not be moving from there anytime soon.

Ann I agree with others- maybe you need a chat with your GP and start a course of drugs. You must be in a good frame of mind when you have your THR. Warmer weather may help but we do not know where that is yet.

Synonymous you have a family in a million. Do not forget the other bedroom's shower etc will be for your husband so that it will be VAT free! Unless of course, you have an en suite!

Your DD does live a distance away at present and that would solve many problems if she moved in and found work locally. It would be a win/win situation for all concerned.

I have spent a very pleasant 2 hours + with 3 other GNs and trying to solve the housing dilemma of one.

Sad times here! Our lovely neighbour died last night. We have lived next door to him and his late wife for nearly 30 years. Four of we neighbours have been quite close over that time. It is very sad.

Ann I am sorry you’re feeling so low; I think others on here are right, perhaps you should make your GP aware. Just telling him how you feel may help you a little. This weather is not helping raise any of our spirits I don’t think.??
Galen save a chair for me on your patio please; it looks extremely inviting. Ours is always too hot, and always too windy! I had a walk round my garden today - it is doing nothing for my mood that I can’t get out there for some weeks yet and do anything, and indeed, may not ever be able to do as much as I used to. My digging days are probably over!
N&G I’m listening for the broadside of canon fire from Norfolk as you do battle over the field yet again. That must have been a bitter blow. I really hope the consultation leads to a good outcome for you, and for the village.
Kitty my commiserations on the sad loss of your neighbour. Good long standing neighbours make life a joy. The other kind can make it unbearable.

We have just come back from a walk; probably the longest we have done for a few weeks, and probably a bit too far for me. It’s usually just a hop and a skip for us but all the paths were under water and we had to go “off piste” a bit. We set off under blue skies with me complaining we should have made a day of it in the Peak District (silly woman!) and ten minutes later, it rained, then it hailed, then it snowed! Then the sun came out as we were about to put the key in the door☹️. Hey ho!
I will keep looking in and hope to catch up one day! TOYA.

Lins1066 How elderly is the neighbour in hospital with a broken hip and arm? Two weeks seems next to no time to recover from two major fractures. Does she have a husband or family to help her to heal properly once she returns home?

MacSporran will be having his cataract removed in late spring. Tomorrow he has the funny growths on his scalp zapped. It's a regular appointment. Such an exciting life.

Cold and damp and several shades of grey. And still the wee birds are singing. Bless their little hearts.
