* soop* my neighbour is 87 and is the main carer for her DH. Their three children are taking it in turns to care for him during the day, but he won't stay overnight so they bring him back home and again stay with him in turn. greyd I agree that 2-3 weeks isn't long is it. We've been neighbours for 36 years now.
We've just returned from a little shopping, it was very cold. In one shop there was a man dressed in a puffer jacket, shorts, sandals and socks. He was in his seventies, he must have been freezing.

ann , please do talk with a GP, they won’t be surprised, climbing out of that sort of hole often needs help. A hug and .

Hope the zapping goes well tomorrow soop and macs isn’t too uncomfortable afterwards. The practicalities certainly sound easier with help synonymous, pleased for you.

There was a strange yellow thing in the sky here today too. It seems the birthday person needed a day out as well as that very good meal yesterday. Had it been raining I might have argued, with sunshine argument would have been churlish .

No marathons please greyd, stick with a gentle stroll. That’s a beautiful patio galen, summer will soon be here.

I’ve listened to good advice and given up on skateboarding, what do you all hunk about roller skating? Quite fancy that. One of our grandchildren has feet the same size as mine and I could borrow theirs so no expenditure involved .

ann, please try to contact a sympathetic GP and explain how you feel. It isn't surprising, considering what you have been through and the pain you are now suffering.

grey, this is not the weather for long walks in the Peak District! Or even short ones.

Good evening everyone. We had sun here today in Essex by the sea, although it was very cold.
I did my volunteering stint at our local hospital this morning. I'm helping out with some admin. Everyone is very friendly, shame about the long bus journey there and back. 20 minutes to drive but nowhere to park.
Ann so sorry to hear how low you've become. I've been in that black hole and it took medication to help me climb out. Please go and see your GP and tell him/her how you feel .
We are off out shortly to pick up a box of pictures we have been asked to store for my stepdaughter who is moving tomorrow.

Yes Galen I can see snow on the hills behind us.

We have been reminiscing, I found our small proof wedding album in a drawer this morning. In one photo on DH's side we are the only ones left. We look so young and quite frankly scared stiff!

On a lighter note our next door neighbour just rang to thank us for his birthday card. He is 80 today and doesn't want any fuss. He is a widower of some years now, but he said that their daughter is taking him out tonight - as she said he's getting more miserable the older he gets.
A few weeks after we moved in, I was in the garden on a Sunday morning when his wife looked over the garden wall and asked if she could have some mint. Dubiously I said yes but I wasn't sure if we had any - oh yes you have she said, it's over there.
So began many years of good neighbourliness. The mint is still there and is starting to sprout.

My kindly dentist (young enough to be my grandson!) has replaced a filling free of charge. He even numbed my gum with gel, so that I wouldn't feel the needle going in with the anaesthetic. Now I can't eat or drink without drooling.

Got a date this morning for my Hip op.

That was good of your dentist, annodomini. I've got to have two fillings - one next Monday and one the week after as they are on either side of my mouth. Not looking forward to it - it must be about 50 years since my last filling. I remember being very bruised afterwards, but the dentist at the time wasn't the most gentle of dentists! Hoping to not have a repeat of that. ?

No snow here, thank goodness, but it's very chilly and the breeze has picked up again, just for a change. It was quite chilly in the hall where our Pilates class is held, despite the heaters being on.

Ann that really is excellent news. We now have to persuade you to go to your GP to get you out of the black hole so that you can get the best result out of that surgery. No more pain and increased mobility.

It was snowing heavily but not lying when I crawled out of bed today. We are back to blue skies and sunshine. It is cold enough for snow.

Ann sorry that you are in a "dark place" I have struggled since being a Teenager with Depression which is always worse in winter months.I have now accepted that I need to be on Anti Depressants to keep my mood relatively stable. I hope you do seek help with your problems.

Isabelle I can't imagine how you feel with early onset Alzeimers but know you must be hurt and angry at the unkind ,insensitive behaviour of others. A lovely,clever man has recently joined a Group at my local Library and he has confided in us that he has early Alzeimers.He livens up our Group and is missed when he doesn't attend.He has so much to give and just needs a little help sometimes with the activities we are doing.An amazing person to know.

My news is that Cassie and I have decided to enjoy a change of scenery. No transport needed as we have decided to use the bedroom upstairs rather than downstairs one. Cassie is ecstatic as she can gain access to the roof space via a doorway from the bedroom.It holds a fascination for her and I hoping she doesn't find any vermin there!

I also rediscovered some of my artwork which is better than I remembered it so I may get my art materials out again and put them to some use.

We have only just returned from Campbeltown. MacS's scalp to be treated yet again. Went to the care home. Went to Tesco, where I fell and finished up in A&E for almost two hours. Such lovely staff in Tesco and A&E. Lovely big egg on my head. Bruised thigh. Blood pressure low. Leg and back usual cuplrits. Plus a UTI. One buggeration after another. Lovely to be home. Late lunch and a relaxing afternoon.

I'm sorry you've suffered this mishap soop, glad to hear that you are relaxing. Take it easy for a few days, low blood pressure is indeed a buggeration.

Oh soop that was awful for you. Did you trip? 2 hours in A&E seems quite good to be fair. Do rest and I hope the swelling goes down soon.

The Tesco store Spanish doctor was very tasty. He asked MacS if he may kiss my check before the paramedics wheeled me out to the ambulance. Such nice young men. So thoughtful and good natured. The driver sang an Elvis song to me...'All Shook Up'

Campbeltown hospital is not a vast place. Unlike some city hospitals. Somehow, it's easier for the staff to remain more stressless.

Left with a list of symptoms to watch out for. So far, I feel very much better than I did when I went "wallop". My skull has to be very tough. It's taken a few bashes since I started to lose my balance. Doctor thinks that I need physio. We shall see.

It's cold and there is plenty of snow on the peaks. Random sleet showers herebouts.

I am thinking of you all. I wish you a pleasant evening. I shall return tomorrow.

Oh Soop! You were doing so well after your recent surgery and now this! We all like to think we bounce, but I know to my cost that we don’t! Please rest and get better.

Anno we managed to get our walk in and yes, there was food involved!
There was a fair bit of snow about but the main track was clear, so no hardship, and no stiles, scrambly bits or jumping over streams to worry about! A ?gentle geriatric plod was all I was allowed - a two pole problem today! Loved every minute, though the wind was blistering and it was not a day for shedding your gloves to take photographs. There was a lot of snow on the very high ground. The photo will give a flavour. Now I have got rid of my wanderlust (such as it was), I am happy to stay in and do as I’m told for a bit!

Oh soop, staying upright is a good thing you know. Sounds as if you need a personal parachute for a soft landing. Possibly the doctor is right about physio if it can help your balance. Please be careful out there.

No snow here, it’s been a blue sky day, cold but so good to have a respite from the rain which we are assured will return with a vengeance overnight. A miracle worker had been and sorted our boundary fence so it no longer waves to us. The cleaning is accomplished, I’ve caught up with a neighbour and been able to help our daughter in law. Not a bad day in corner land.
