Ha ha kitty a lovely Thai girl?

Galen Mon 03-Feb-20 21:47:44

Watching BBC2 on nudes.
Reminded when my darling husband and I visited the house of the Vetii in Pompeii.
A guard opened a door that led from the kitchen watching my face avidly!
I looked at the revealed statue and commented’ well you can see he wasn’t circumcised’
The guards face was a picture. Not the response he’d expected.

Greyduster Mon 03-Feb-20 22:01:36

Well, what can you say other than “If you’re gonna have one, have a big ‘un!”

Urmstongran Mon 03-Feb-20 22:50:09

Just popped in to wish you all a goodnight, hopefully a sound sleep in the land of Nod, free from aches, pains and worries.

I’ve been watching ‘Cold Feet’ then had a shower and made some ‘Ovaltine’.

I’ve got an early appointment in the morning with the practice nurse as another blood test has been recommended. I know I shall be slightly anxious until I get the result. Par for the course I think at our age. I never used to give tests a second thought.

Morethan, thinking of you and yours x
Dragonfly, so sorry to hear of your hospital problems.
Soop, so glad you`ve had a pain free day, hope they continue.
My son is very down tonight. They`ve found something else on his lung, but don`t know what it is yet, it could be something left from the chest infection he`s had the last few weeks...…………..or something else. He has to have a CT scan in the next week or so, then go back to Lincoln to discuss the results and any necessary treatment.
My daughter`s check up was just that, a check up. The consultant told us what he`s said before, they can`t make her any better, but can try to make sure she doesn`t get any worse. The good news is she`s gained weight. She`s put on a whole kilogram, she now weighs 39.1 kg. That`s not a misprint, she really is that thin!
The chair was delivered this morning. It would have been free delivery, but that meant it being left at the door in all it`s packaging, so Lynne paid £90 for an "engineered delivery", whereby they unpack it and take the packaging away, bring it inside and set it up. As they were leaving I asked if they would take the other chair into the garage for me, the answer was an abrupt "No", and they walked out! My eldest son, DIL and grandson came tonight to see to it, as it`s very heavy.
Ann, I don`t like custard tarts either, can I join your tiny club please?
TOYA xx

Deep breaths chaps and chapesses!
So much sadness around. Dear Callgirl another worry about your son, fingers crossed it is not sinister, but of course until you hear, it will prey on your minds.
As for the delivery man and your daughter’s chair - they need a strong word. A letter of complaint (do you do Twitter? It seems to be very effective. I moaned about a Cook! Pie at the weekend which was disgusting but Hattie said”Thank you very much” ) and got an apology and they are sending a voucher to compensate.
A dear book group friend passed away peacefully on Sunday night after some weeks in hospital. Her body just gave up on her, but her warm, wonderful spirit will live on with us, her friends. And now I have woken up to the sad news of old gaijin which her daughter has kindly shared with us. Another sad loss. I keep trying to repeat to myself
Say not in grief she is no more, but live in thankfulness that she was
Harrumph, tea is called for.
TOYA more than ever

kittylester Tue 04-Feb-20 07:41:06

callgirl, what a day for you and your family. I, too, hope that your son's scan just shows remnants of the infection and nothing else. Those delivery drivers need a few grans to sort them out. Disgraceful.

maw, I'm sorry to hear about your friend. Are you ok?

I also worry more about blood tests etc, urmston, but usually there was nothing to worry about so try not to. grin

dragonfly, I'm sorry that things are not going as smoothly as usual for you. The NHS is usually so good that we really feel it when it falls short.

morethan, I am in awe of your coping skills.

Hope today is pain free as well soop.

grey blush

I'm feeling a bit shame faced following my frivolous post about my bil in face of the real problems and sadness that people are suffering, but he is really trying my patience.

dragonfly - spot on!! grin

MawB Tue 04-Feb-20 08:22:10

Kittylester -can I join the BIL club please?
I am not at all close to Paw’s brother who is totally self centred and entitled and Paw was the only person I could share that with!
I have to bite my tongue with the rest of the family, but oh, my thoughts.....

annsixty Tue 04-Feb-20 08:23:29

kitty if we didn't have some frivolity in our lives we wouldn't function amid all the sadness.
I am very down at the moment but try to find some cheer in the midst of all the gloom.
Just live life to the full while you can everyone, we are reminded constantly that life is very short.
TOYA

dragonfly46 Tue 04-Feb-20 08:53:38

ann so sorry you are so down. It is difficult to be upbeat with all the sadness around us at the moment. I hope as spring makes its appearance and the evenings get lighter you will feel better.
I too am finding it difficult to be positive but that has to change.

Call so sorry to hear your DS has another worry. Scans are scary things and you do not rest until the results are in and you know what you are dealing with.

So sorry to hear about your friend maw.

What is it with these men and Thai women kitty?

Nannytopsy Tue 04-Feb-20 09:17:46

Good morning everyone. Several pages ago, * Soop* said that one custard tart was not enough. That’s why they sell them in packs of four! ? ( And yes, I confess, I can eat all four).
There are lots of sad and worried people in the kitchen yesterday and today, to whom I can only send hugs and best wishes.
I should be decorating by now, not sitting in bed with coffee and GN. Come on woman, get moving!

Izabella Tue 04-Feb-20 09:19:14

A beautiful morning here in the shire. An azure colored sky and a weak winter sun filtered through thin linear clouds

I seem to have developed an urgent need to find out all sorts of things on good days, while I can still comprehend the written word. Sometimes it is “stuff” I used to know and subjects I have lost the detail of. This morning for some reason it is the Mason Dixon line. I spent a good deal of time on that one ending up with Henry Cavendish and the Royal Society. I have always had a thirst for knowledge and I sincerely hope this current state of enquirer (if not retention) continues. I shall swim later hoping to recall information while I lose myself in the tranquility of the water

soop thrilled you awoke painfree. So much to be said for such a state.

Apologies for sounding so positive for all kitcheners struggling. I am aware I am quite up and down myself but on a good run feel blessed.

Yesterday I was cheered by snowdrops and cyclamen in the garden, surrounded by protruding spears of daffodils.

Sending special virtual wellness to all struggling with life events. Callgirl you are in my mind, together with A60 And lovely to know you found the new kitchen greyduster. CH pointed me in the right direction yet again. Bless him

Izabella Tue 04-Feb-20 09:28:33

Had to pop back. CH checked the good morning thread for me. Sad news from Emily regarding her mum. It is obvious gransnetters thought a lot of her and she brought joy to
Many. A mum to be proud of

Greyduster Tue 04-Feb-20 10:00:00

Izabella my only flirtation with the Mason Dixon line was when I spectacularly blew out every fuse in our house in Belgium trying to join two pieces of electrical flex together. As DH was away, I called on the good offices of our Texan next door neighbour, who looked at my repair and said “Gal, you darn near blew ever’thing South of the Mason Dixon Line with this one!” He mended it and sorted out the fuse box! I had to look up the Mason Dixon line too!

Galen Tue 04-Feb-20 11:08:41

8am today. Me warm and cozy and fast asleap in bed!
Telephone rings!
ITS THE BOILER MAN!?
I’ll be there in 10 mins!
PANIC
end result
HEAT
I’m gradually warming up at last.
??????????????????????

Galen Tue 04-Feb-20 11:09:33

Asleap?
Asleep

annodomini Tue 04-Feb-20 11:12:24

So much pain and sadness this morning. We have peaks and troughs in here and this is a bit of a trough. callgirl, you don't have your worries to seek. Your son must be very anxious and that makes his mum anxious too. I hope the investigation uncovers nothing untoward.
Thanks Izabella. You have caused me to look up the Mason Dixon Line. I knew vaguely about it but thought it would be a straight line! Quite wiggly, isn't it! Glad you have a bright morning - here we have what I'm beginning to think of as Cheshire drizzle.
Just had a visit from my window cleaner who's been missing in action for some months. Turns out that he had a bad fall (from the ladder of course), resulting in a fractured pelvis. Poor man has suffered considerable loss of earnings.
Galen, I hope today really is the day when you get your boiler back in working order. Loved your photograph!
"Oh, you are naughty but I like you" grin.

Nannytopsy Tue 04-Feb-20 11:22:54

Congratulations Galen! So glad your boiler is sorted. I am about to put the first brushful onto the sitting room walls. Wish me luck - I may be some time ...

MawB Tue 04-Feb-20 11:25:06

Who would have guessed how educational GN could be!
Any questions on the Mason Dixon line in the next pub quiz and I m as they say “à votre disposition ”
Sun is shining here and all the windows are open as I am having the carpets cleaned (flippin freezing, but not quite what Galen has had to put up with)
Anyway that is as much Spring cleaning as I can cope with although I might be inspired to tidy the knicker drawer.
Dragonfly I had missed your latest buggerations and hope things are picking up? flowers

dragonfly46 Tue 04-Feb-20 11:46:04

Great news Galen I hope you can eat at last!!

Galen Tue 04-Feb-20 12:08:05

Will probably get a frozen baked potato with baked beans and cheese.
(I’ll nuke it first though!)

Galen Tue 04-Feb-20 12:08:53

Or I could do the lambs liver meal?

Galen Tue 04-Feb-20 12:09:36

Or the rhogan gosh curry

dragonfly46 Tue 04-Feb-20 12:23:05

Galen why not all three to make up for lost meals grin
