Storm arriving soon! Batten down the hatches.

I'm in East Sussex so far so good but as I talk the gusts are getting stronger . Now we are told there could be tornadoes this afternoon .

North west coast and it’s really really windy. The rain is being driven horizontally along the top of the steep hill where we live. If it stops raining it might be fun to be blown up the hill but not a day for going to walk along the prom.

We have hired a cottage in Dornie on the west coast of Scotland. We are sitting watching the waves on the loch and trying to work out if we could remain upright if we attempt a short walk!
Plenty of food, wine, books and a log burner so quite happy!

The storm just really starting ‘to bite’ here in Oxfordshire,
Trees being lashed about and driving rain just now, and as others say the worst is yet to come (gulp).
Had some cooked brekkie in case we lose the electricity later on.
Main fears are:roof tiles flying off, fences blowing down and last but not least ( as we are surrounded by trees) a nearby tree coming down.

It’s very strong winds here but so far not as bad as I was expecting ...but the days not done yet

Grammaretto A leak like that is my worst nightmare. Hope you can get it sorted.

I checked the wind map on the link fromcraftyone and next Saturday 16th looks far worse than today for this area. It shows a lull midweek and then a big increase next weekend. Is there a storm with the initial 'D' coming in behind this one?

Bit wild in the south lakes - and a lot of rain.........

Really is blowing storm source here on the North somerset coast now. A tree in the lane that runs from our group of houses has just blown down along the road from us, but luckily it has fallen into the field and not into the road.

Just been out to check if all the tiles are still in place on the roof, but had to fight my way back up the path and through the door against the wind. ?

Very, very windy in East Cambs. One advantage of living in the middle of nowhere is we don't have to worry about debris from other properties coming our way but our garden incinerator has just gone bowling across the veg garden.

We're fairly sheltered thanks to tall hedges and a railway embankment which shoots the wind over the top of us but the NOISE!!!

Poor Peggy is curled up on the sofa with her head buried in a cushion.

Strong winds and things flying around here in Hertfordshire

Just had a brief blast of sunshine here in Glasgow but cloud thickening up again. Last night it was wet and windy but not too bad.
The media are continually whipping up hysteria about weather, CV flu etc. and are at risk of crying wolf once too often.
Sun’s out again so off out for a walk.
Hope those of you in worse affected areas are safe.

Localise flooding up here in North Cumbria. Local new build housing estate underwater - the developers knew the risk and installed a drainage pond but that’s obviously not enough!

Here in Manchester one fence panel is down and the garden is awash ,I have a small pump which is used to pump out the water in between the lawn ( I use that term laughingly)and the flower beds.I was awake most of the night listening to the wind.

Wind has been howling and rain lashing on windows all night, garden looks ok although trees are waving wildly.
Was supposed to be driving to see a Cavapoo puppy ? today but have cancelled after worried phone calls from Son and Daughter.
Just seen some tiles on the patio and the porch is leaking.
Oh well, I’ve had worse, the Beast from the East brought a huge tree crashing down, took half my roof tiles and demolished a fence.

I’m in Dublin. It was very windy all yesterday afternoon (but didn’t stop the rugby!); the rain arrived later. There was thunder during the night with torrential rain & I gather that 10,000 homes in the SW & West are without power. The rain has stopped now but still very windy. Just be sensible!

I don’t think I’ve taken the storm as serious as some of you. I’ve done nothing to prepare for it. We live in Fareham. We have a forecast of rain until Tuesday with high winds. Hopefully no damage. We had our trees cut last year so they won’t be a problem. Hope you all stay safe.

I heard that 3pm(ish) today is another period to watch. I also heard that 1000 homes are without power in my county. I re-filled my flask and have charged up my 3 x makita batteries so will be ok for light and radio btw did you know that dab drains a bettery much quicker than fm?. I am very grateful not to have any big trees near me

Crafts come in handy for soothingness, I have been quietly spinning with the radio on. Will now peruse the delivered sunday paper from cover to cover. Today is one of those days when I get through the day in hops. Am trying not to do any online (endorphin) shopping

Here in Birmingham it's heavy rain and strong winds but not as bad as I thought it would be.
Yesterday we went shopping in Bicester and it was lovely sunny weather

Here in the NW, it’s pretty bad, the wind howling, no trees but you see the electric/phone cables swinging. It’s raining now. A little frightening...the whistling wind. Don’t like it. I am staying in bed. Ha ha .

Oh crikey, the wind is very gusty against the west windows now, scary tbh and will be very much worse later. John Kettley said it may well be red warnings soon. I am going to prep my lunch and heat my soup for a small flask for later. Now it has just started lashing down too, will be floods all over

We lost power for an hour, heating is on and all the necessaries getting done because the worst is yet to come this afternoon x

It’s windy and a bit rainy here in Edinburgh but not the cataclysmic storm I was expecting - maybe it’s on its way. Last night was very windy and rainy. The good news is that DS’s rugby match has been cancelled and I’m spared catering duty - woohooo!!!
