Got to thinking just now - can we be kind about posters❓

With all this about meanness nowadays on social media how about a little experiment.

I’ve posted.

Can the next person up look at the post above them (about me, to start with) and try to say something nice about the one before? We do ALL have good qualities I’m certain......

It might make for an uplifting thread?

If you can’t (or don’t ‘know’ the poster above to you) leave it and wait. Come back later when you recognise a poster’s style.

Off we go. I’m waiting (in trepidation ha!)

Jessity, thank you for your kind comment, it's a wee boost today.
You may not post often, but you once took the trouble to send me a very kind PM, supporting me for something I did on GN. It meant a lot to me.

Urmstongran Wed 19-Feb-20 09:35:46

My absolute pleasure Jessity I’ve so enjoyed them too - the contributions have been pretty amazing.

Thinking of Luckygirl today
At least the weather is calmer and drier so far.

For those concerned about Rufus2 - I pm'd him yesterday, but haven't had a reply. Hope he's OK.

BlueSky Wed 19-Feb-20 11:21:07

Thanks Squiffy perhaps he's having problems with the internet?

BBbevan Wed 19-Feb-20 11:28:25

I absolutely love Phoenix’s posts. She has a wonderful outlook on life. Similarly I always look out for Bradfordlass, Anniebach, Callistemon ,* Gillybob* , and who can forget that brave lady * Luckygirl* . These are just a few. I am sure there are many more who are wise, compassionate and brave. Keep the GN flag flying .

I think Rufus was going on a day's outing, Maw.
Did I imagine it or does he live in a retirement complex? I was reminded of the book The Single Ladies of the Jacaranda Retirement Village and him being the sole male.

Phoenix is a star! ??⭐?
If I'm feeling a bit down or grumpy I only have to read one of her threads and I start laughing!

A few month's ago, I posted about the terrible discovery I had made about a man I had feelings for when younger, it knocked me for six and made me doubt myself. I was overwhelmed by kind and supportive posts, especially from lemongrove, who obviously thought that our previous political spats were of little importance in the circumstances. Thank you xx

MawB Wed 19-Feb-20 13:05:12

Must have missed that Callistemon but it has been nearly a week ?

Wheniwasyourage Wed 19-Feb-20 13:59:57

Another mention for lemongrove. I disagree with almost all of her political views, but I always think that I would love to meet her and that we would get on. Her sense of humour appeals to me, and she manages to spout the most terrible political thing (IMO grin) without being nasty to people. I do agree with her very often outside of politics!

Wheniwasyourage Wed 19-Feb-20 14:00:48

Oh and paddyanne, please don't go. I always like to read your posts and agree with you very often, including politics!

Megs36 Wed 19-Feb-20 15:12:57

Callistemon, I’ve read that book too, loveJoanna Nell, and wondered if Rufus was there! Joanna lives in Sydney too.

BBbevan Wed 19-Feb-20 15:48:24

How could I forget Marydoll.? Sorry cariad

Marydoll Wed 19-Feb-20 16:10:57

blush

lemongrove Wed 19-Feb-20 16:16:20

Gill political spats are of no importance whatsoeversmile
I take each thread as it comes, so thank you for a mention.
I admire your posts for being heartfelt and unswerving in their honesty.

WhenIwas ......what terrible political thing did I say??
As you say, outside of that am sure we would get on well, as we often seem to have the same sort of views on life.....if we meet for a coffee we wouldn’t end up pouring it over each
other would we? Hahacafe

BBbevan likes games threads.....so must be a good sortsmile

Marydoll Wed 19-Feb-20 16:42:55

Lemon, I loved our outrageous carry ons in the Argy, it used to cheer me up no end when I was low! ?
A similar sense of humour, I think.

BBbevan Wed 19-Feb-20 16:46:39

Lemongrove. Only because I dislike any argument and some threads are a bit banal. Also I don’t often get a reply if I post. So thank you and Marydoll also

Callistemon Wed 19-Feb-20 17:45:22

Megs I think Rufus is in Melbourne.
I could be wrong about the day trip.

GrannyGravy13 Wed 19-Feb-20 18:46:42

Rufus is definitely in Melbourne.

Tangerine Wed 19-Feb-20 19:23:18

I enjoy your posts Paddyanne and hope you stay.

grannyactivist Wed 19-Feb-20 20:12:21

Oh dear - my 'good qualities' are obviously well hidden (I posted Tue 18-Feb-20 23:46:40). Good job I'm not a sensitive soul. grin

Callistemon Wed 19-Feb-20 20:18:16

Hello grannyactivist. I hope you're feeling much better now, and I do know that you have so many good qualities, are kind and generous and always willing to offer your time, your care and even your home to those in need.
You deserve a star too!

??⭐?

lemongrove Wed 19-Feb-20 20:20:32

Let’s put that right!
Grannyactivist is ( let’s face it)is the person we would all like to be, given half a chance smile a poster who always has a good word for others and does so much in real life, in a selfless way for not only her family, but for friends and waifs and strays.??????

Doodle Wed 19-Feb-20 20:26:37

lemon what can I say ? you are.......the life and soul of our parties. grin

lemongrove Wed 19-Feb-20 20:26:40

Gold stars for Anniebach and Marydoll who have had much to worry them but still have time for others.?

And a shout out for GrannyGravy who stays calm under fire
Even when without a tin hat on the politics threads.??
