I didn’t actually choose mine, I was given it by my DD

maddyone Tue 25-Feb-20 11:03:40

The first part is my name, but not the name I’m known by, it’s my middle name, and I like it better than the name I’m actually known by. The second bit has no relevance at all really, except that we were down to one cat when we’d actually had three. Sadly we’re now down to no cats since our last sweet boy died last year.

Calendargirl Tue 25-Feb-20 11:04:02

The first couple of names I went for had already been taken. Was Neil Sedaka playing on the radio, or did I just glance at the calendar?

Teetime Tue 25-Feb-20 11:04:28

I play golf.

cornergran Tue 25-Feb-20 11:05:18

Mine reflects where I live.

silverlining48 Tue 25-Feb-20 11:10:02

Mine is to remind myself, even if it’s hard, to always try to see one.

BlueSky Tue 25-Feb-20 11:10:59

Mine reflects what I'm hoping for literally and metaphorically speaking!

PernillaVanilla Tue 25-Feb-20 11:19:31

Because many years ago I noticed an article in Country Living with a picture of a woman potting plants in a greenhouse wearing a a cream cashmere jumper. The caption was "Here is Pernilla, gardening, in her vanilla cashmere sweater, £lotsandlots from (very expensive shop) " Part of me wanted to be that Pernilla, so she is now my alter ego.

I cannot tell you because you would be so shocked shock
Or am I just kidding?
Either way you will never know! grin

SpringyChicken Tue 25-Feb-20 11:33:17

I chose mine because it suits my personality (I think). I love to laugh and have fun

curvygran950 Tue 25-Feb-20 11:33:24

I'm curvy and I'm a gran !
[I don't think there's much hope of changing the former and I'd never want to change the latter . ]

rosenoir Tue 25-Feb-20 11:34:40

Mine was the fragrance of a candle that was next to me on a table when I joined.

I tried many others that were already taken. I have since googled mine and found another with the same name but starting with a capital.

conor Tue 25-Feb-20 11:36:02

I chose mine as it is my first DGSs name and I wasn't a gran before then!

ananimous Tue 25-Feb-20 11:45:36

I had just been given this book as a gift...

lovebeigecardigans1955 Tue 25-Feb-20 11:47:12

I was possibly wearing one. I also love sky blue cardigans, among others. I'm probably quite a beige person, being fairly middle of the road but hopefully with hidden depths.

TwiceAsNice Tue 25-Feb-20 11:49:25

My daughter got pregnant with my first grandchild and then the scan said it was twins so looking forward to a grandchild became TwiceasNice

wildswan16 Tue 25-Feb-20 11:52:43

I had just been watching a couple of swans having a bit of a disagreement on the river below my window.

heavensjoys Tue 25-Feb-20 11:57:08

Mine is because that is exactly what all my Grandchildren are to me!

Lucylastic Tue 25-Feb-20 11:57:52

My knickers keep falling down.

Nata Tue 25-Feb-20 12:02:31

It's the way my friend shortens my full name (Natalie)

GagaJo Tue 25-Feb-20 12:09:17

It's what my grandson calls me. And as the little darling can do no wrong, I love it!

ninathenana Tue 25-Feb-20 12:09:32

It's a corruption of one of my given names the rest of it was inspired by Nina Nannar the journalist.

NanTheWiser Tue 25-Feb-20 12:20:12

Because I like to think I am...

ann678tifney Tue 25-Feb-20 12:34:18

M y name is my first and middle name, my grans maiden name, and the numbers are important to me as they are some of my children birthdates.

Greyduster Tue 25-Feb-20 12:46:16

It is the name of my favourite fishing fly; the first one I learned to tie, and on its first outing it caught me a beautiful wild brown trout (safely returned to the water!). I can’t see well enough, nor do my fingers work well enough, to tie anything that small now☹️.

Buffybee Tue 25-Feb-20 12:46:31

I'm named after my lovely old dog Buffy, who is now 16 and was named after Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
I sometimes call her Buffybee, Buffywuffy, Buffs, Buffers.
So basically it's my dogs nickname.
