Ann I agree, only go out if you need food- you must stay as well as possible- it is only 2 more weeks.
Izabella has CH been diagnosed with wet Macular because to me his sight is decreasing too rapidly if it is dry alone.
If it helps, I have bought an Alexa and I ask her to time items I have put in the oven because I also cannot see the timer. I actually have 3 Alexas, one in the kitchen, one in the living room and one in my bedroom. It is handy when I wake up during the night and I cannot read the time I ask her and also if asked she gives me the local temperature.
At times she does irritate me because I get the T in India which amazingly I do not want. Last week the one in the kitchen did not know what a timer was but I soon sorted that one out.
Do not buy the latest, a plug in because insufficient work has been done on it so it is not as reliable as my other two.

Soop's kitchen for kind and caring folk
(1001 Posts) Here we are again...happy as can be...all good friens and jolly good company.
and (hugs) a plenty.
Sorry. Lost my Y. Heaven knows what genetic syndrome that makes me!
Izabella current husband? In the electrical sense, is he AC or DC?
Whatever, he’s obviously a real live wire. Does he shock you?
TOA
Izabella everytime you mention your CH J am reminded of the lare Terry Wogan who always referred to his wife in a similar way, he said it kept her on her toes.
I am so sorry his sight is deteriorating so quickly life is becoming doubly or even trebly difficult
I so admire the way you keep going and persevere with activities as long as possible.
I wish my H could have been the same, sadly he wasn't, just gave up and expected me to do everything.
Dragonfly one more chemo, how good that must sound to you it must have seemed an age, getting through it.
To us older ones to whom life is flying by, it seems only recently when you started.
With everything crossed, I should get my op 2 weeks today.
I saw the physio and OT yesterday all is good so far.
I was given some aids and have a prescription number to pick big equipment up from Millercare.
I have decided to stay in now unless absolutely necessary, I don't usually panic but I think at my age I must take all the precautions I can.
Have a good day everyone and I am TOYA.
Afterthought, Maw the Wrights Coal Tar Soap is very pungent, it hits me in the nose everytime I go in the downstairs loo.
Good mo0rning. Post it notes to hand but sadly these days they seem to confuse me more than help. Anyhow, one does make sense - the fact I omitted to welcome those of you new to this haven. Apologies. I make no apologies though for failing to keep up with other events as you7 all know why.
We were rudely awakened at some ungodly hour by shrieking and screaming. Foxes cavorting around outside, silhouetted in the beautiful moonlight. I thought there was nothing worse than Chinese opera but I have now reconsidered. AS I was fully awake I enjoyed looking out at the silvered grass and the trees whose shadows looked blackened. Quite beautiful and worth the disturbed night. As for the foxes, lets hope they keep away as we have lambs due next week. ?
A friend has weighed out some flour for CH as he can't read the scales now , so providing I can sort out the oven dial we will bring home made sourdough bread into the kitchen tomorrow morning.
Meanwhile I confirm the handwashing station is working well, so please use it when entering the kitchen particularly after using keyboards. Keep well all.
PS - for newbies CH = current husband.
Morning all. Starting to worry about all that’s going on at present and have decided to stay home fir the time being.
Doesn’t help that my adult children are panicking and both have underlying health problems.
We went out for a day out yesterday, felt fine, had some cake in a pretty tea room. Had a lovely day, all looked normal, yet now I am nervous.
Was it last Night on tv when BJ stated that many people will lose someone dear? Instead of his usual smirk he looked serious. Oh dear. Sorry to sound down. Keep safe everyone.
callgirl yes it is- one of his earlier books which must have escaped my notice.
I also enjoy Quentin Jardine and also Faye Kellerman.
With great difficulty, I managed to find Tara's prescription food so I am going to pick it up today. She will be fed for a few months- I hope she is appreciative of the cost and stress.
I have an OPD appointment on Monday and I am not looking forward to that. I will not be sitting remotely close to anybody if I can help it.
TOYA
Nannytopsy ?
Spaghetti bogrollnaise anyone?
??
Lovely photo Soop, you haven`t changed at all!
Dylan is a handsome boy, but I do like fur to stroke. Isn`t it difficult to keep him warm, Smileless?
Morethan, I`m not good with words, but it`s all been said anyway. Your granddaughters are as beautiful as they are wonderful.
CharleyG, I also am a fan of Mark Billingham, is it a Tom Thorne book that you are reading?
Izabella, lovely to see you back in the kitchen. Those people at the pool aren`t fit to live amongst decent people. I hope another apartment soon comes along.
My fridge freezer conked out yesterday, I`ve ordered another online, the earliest delivery I could get was tomorrow, from Currys, so am eagerly awaiting my new appliance, although I could have done without the financial outlay right now!
TOYA xx
My apologies- I forget that not everybody has my medical knowledge.
Tara has retired to bed- I will have my annual shower and then join her. I am reading a good book written by Mark Billingham, one of my favourite crime authors.
TOYA
Another one delighted to see Izabella back, So sorry you had to put up with such ignorance but I’m pleased the awful family got their just deserts.
Oh Charleygirl I took you seriously! ‘Flu is bad enough to cope with, without that particular complication, I’m SO relieved you were joking. Naughty girl!
The next thing we know, there’ll be no olive oil! ( extra virgin of course )
NO DIJON MUSTARD!
Civilisation as we know it is coming to an end.
I can’t cook without it.
Charley ^ no it is my dry sense of humour to make use of the loo rolls.^ Phew!
Smileless My cake contains chestnut flour, olive oil, chopped dried figs, cinnamon and courgettes amongst other things. Yum! (Well, it's yummy for me anyway as I can't eat normal ingredients.)
No Pears soap, substituted with Wrights Coal Tar !!
Paw’s favourite soap Annsixty - he had incredibly sensitive skin and when the formulation of Pears was changed, Wrights was the only soap he could use. I keep a bar by the basin and use it occasionally - just for his smell
Sparklefizz- no it is my dry sense of humour to make use of the loo rolls.
I will be pleased when I can sit in the garden and watch the weeds grow.
I'm not tech savvy either Charleygirl
I had to get
Mr. S. to download Dylan's photo.
I've passed Tara's vital statistics onto Dylan and I must say he was more than a little interested
.
An interesting substitute, kitchen roll for loo roll annsixty. You'll be able to wipe but not flush
. Reminds me of when we were in Rhodes; loo paper had to be put in a bin as you weren't allowed to flush it.
I did forget on a couple of occasions!
Charleygirl Is C.Diff "part of the package"? I hadn't heard that.
Smileless Sorry please tell Dylan I am not tech savvy- he will understand. Tara is black and white, weighs around 4kg and is beautiful.
I went to my local Waitrose because I needed to buy a loaf of bread but the shelves had about 10 tins of tinned tomatoes, no loo, kitchen rolls, tissues, bars of soap or sanitary products. Also, eggs were scarce and there was no flour, malt vinegar or Dijon mustard. If this was the start of WW3 Waitrose would be closed because it would be empty.
Surely people have stocked up with dozens of loo rolls.
I was unaware that Clostridium Difficile was part of the package, hence the need for loo rolls.
Galen so sorry about the cruise- I know how you look forward to them. I ran out of the door when I retired- I had had enough and I have loved every minute since I left, including the 3 part time jobs I acquired until I broke my ankle.
TOYA
No toilet rolls in my Sainbury's order which arrives in the next hour, they have substituted with kitchen roll.
No raisins, substituted with sultanas, they will be going back.
No Pears soap, substituted with Wrights Coal Tar!!
I have decided to keep that as at least I will know by the distinctive smell if hand have in fact been washed.
Dylan is preening and looking very pleased with himself since I passed on all of your lovely comments
.
What fabulous hair soop. My mum would spend hours piling my long hair into a bun, with at least 2 ribbons and goodness knows how many hair grips, then she'd frame my face with 'kiss curls'. I think she must have missed her calling as a hair dresser
.
Dylan would like to see a pic of Tara before he makes his decision whether to come and visit charleygirl; precious or what
.
Glad your boiler's up and running N&G. Not sure about substituting loo roll with hot x buns; don't think I'd ever be able to eat one again; hot x bun that is.
Sorry you've had to cancel your cruise Galen, at least you've managed to get a suite but having to spend more for less is annoying to say the least. See this and the weather as a blip in your retirement, better weather will be on the way soon and you'll be able to enjoy it without work getting in the way.
Izabella
some people just aren't fit for human company.
The cake looks lovely Sparkleblze; what weird ingredients does it contain this time?
Glad you're feeling better Cherry. Your break away sounds lovely Lins and well deserved after spending so long in bed.
Enjoy relaxing at home after all you hospital visits dragonfly.
Apologies if I've missed anyone TOYA
Izabella,I’m so sorry that you had such a horrible experience at the swimming pool, glad you are back amongst your kitchen friends?
Cherry glad you are feeling brighter.
Soop, hope you feel better tomorrow,we all could do with some sunshine to make us feel better.
Well our boiler has gone on the blink, the heating engineer has been told it could take two weeks for the part to be delivered?
From our very chilly house I am TOYA
anno, I also feel like hiding till it has all gone away. We have dd2 and family coming for the weekend and she keeps checking that we are still happy for them to come. Of course we say yes but, in reality, I would rather they didnt. But, if we put them off, who knows when we will see them again.
It is quite a scary situation isnt it?
Galen, I'm so sorry you are fed up but I think n&g has found the ideal job for you.
soop, what a stunner!
