Just that really - please share one thing that you’re planning for the day to cheer yourself up in these trying times.

Could be anything from a bar of chocolate, glass of something lovely, arranging some freshly cut flowers from your garden or baking a cake to a freshly made bed, or even painting your toenails!

Doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks (DH has just informed me I’m daft) as long as it puts a smile on your face!

So to start this off - yesterday I changed our bed and had the best night’s sleep! Today I’m going to make some banana bread as they’re really mottled in the fruit bowl - can’t tell you how many brownie points that gets in this house!

Hoping to get out in the garden a bit later to potter and just enjoy the fact we have one. Photo of my spring flowers with a old china tiger i bought at a car boot sale, hoping it will thwart the many cats we have all around us who like use my garden as their loo!!!! smile

What a lovely idea, only just seen, but I went for an hours walk yesterday with earphones and phone tuned into BBC Essex and came back feeling a lot happier than I went out. Keep safe everyone and try to find at least one thing in these hard times that makes you happy.

Flippin’ heck, *BBbevan, is that right? I live near lots of beaches and I have taken so many big pebbles I’d be doing a twenty-five year stretch if I’d been caught! (I did replace the seagull, though. Far too noisy).

Morning all Treaters - here’s one I had a slice of earlier! Delish!

My treat for today is going to be a facial mask and tint lashes and brows - a bit of titivating always cheers me up!

I’ll TRY to tidy up my crafting room. I have some new fabric that I’m keen to make a start on.

On another note I was saying about whether to go ahead and buy a shed and my DD replied ‘You Don’t need a shed you have the whole house to craft in’. Was that the right thing to say to me ???

My treat is going to work today .
I work PT and have no idea what or who I will find when I get there .

BBbevan Wed 18-Mar-20 06:25:34

fatgran did you know that under the Costal Protection Act it is illegal to take sand, rocks or pebbles from a beach.?You might say it is only one or two, but if we all did it our coastline would be compromised. You could be prosecuted. We live very near the sea and I know the temptation to bring home one or two pebbles in your pocket. But please don't .

OH drove me to the beach to collect seaweed for the garden plus some nice rocks to put around the edges of my large pots to stop the blackbirds from tearing everything out.

Will cook a pasta dish for tea and do some gardening this afternoon - can't go out for a meal due to the virus!

Yes Happy st Patrick's day to everyone. We usually go out and have a bit of a St paddy's party in the city and stay in hotel overnight. Not tonight thoughsad
Had to cancel but had an evening of Guinness, Baileys and listened to Christy Moore.
I'm not Irish but DH family originate from West Coast Ireland so we always make an effort.
Top of the morning to ye and the rest of the day to yoursel

Noreen3 I hope you enjoyed your glass of Guinness to your DH. We've spent some lovely holidays in Ireland and have wonderful memories. My treat to my conscience today was visiting the care home with some daffs, a small happiness when the world doesn't make much sense. And DGC and family are self-isolated so I'm making the most of home time. I didn't have time refused to panic buy so I'll def be making banana bread and other treats using all those store cupboard ingredients that I knew would come in useful some time! Hope you all continue to find small moments of happiness in the days to come.

@Oopsadaisy3 the condensed milk goes in before the flour.

I love hearing what people here are doing to stay healthy and happy. I am making 2 corned beefs and trying to not be so sad that I cannot see my grand babies due to quarantine/no travel in California.

Sorry to be a misery but I have to download and fill in a paper if I want to go out and I live in a flat ?. However, in the last few days I have changed the bed, cleaned the balcony and have sorted out papers so it’s not all bad. Take care everyone

GabriellaG54 Tue 17-Mar-20 19:08:20

Thanks Framilode ?

GabriellaG54 Tue 17-Mar-20 19:07:30

Auntieflo and Lisagran
I have the same jug...bought in M&S (£5) before Christmas. It had muscari bulbs and compost in it. Very pretty.

GabriellaG54 Tue 17-Mar-20 19:03:02

Oh! Monica53
That's mean.
Did you have to mention jam roly poly with custard?

Now I won't think of anything else until tomorrow when I'll have to make one.
Thanks...???

Bluecat Tue 17-Mar-20 18:56:07

As I won't be seeing anyone but my husband for months, I am thinking of growing a beard.... smile

A lovely slice of rose water and vanilla sponge from a local cafe at lunchtime

Oopsadaisy3 Tue 17-Mar-20 18:26:33

When do we put the condensed milk in , after the flour?

lovebeigecardigans1955 Tue 17-Mar-20 18:22:51

@BluebellGran - this is the recipe I found. It was metric so I transferred most of the measurements into Imperial which this old fogey prefers.

FUDGE COOKIES
4oz butter
2oz granulated sugar
1 tsp vanilla essence
200g condensed milk (not all the tin I found)
6oz all purpose flour - not sure if this meant SR so I added a biggish pinch of baking powder
pinch of salt if butter not salted
PREHEAT THE OVEN - 160 fan
Beat butter and sugar together in electric mixer. Add flour and salt, beat until smooth. Add flour and salt.
Put on baking parchment in big blobs about 2" apart - they will spread quite big. Bake at 160 fan for around 12-15 minutes. Cool on the paper and transfer to rack after about 5 mins.
I found mine took a bit longer and were a bit soggy in the middle but edible. I've been naughty and eaten at least 4 of them. Bang goes the waistline. Still alive.

my treat was walking around my small potager garden and every one of my many fruit bushes, trees and plants is showing signs of life. I was so chuffed esp with the rhubarb because I hacked a piece off the one on my allotment and bunged it in here when I took over my new house
