Good Morning Everyone,
Its grey but dry here in Brackley this morning.
Today, will do a basic shop this morning for those essential needs .
Go to the bank.
My planned mystery one nighter for next week , as others have withdrawn due to the virus , its been redone for September .
As to virus did my usual cafe stops in Bicester and Buckingham numbers down and with the later concerns whether or how many hours it will remain open .
Sainsburys in Bicester , although I went into the Argos section for an item I had ordered online and paid on arrival , the food section was nearly all shelves empty .
I saw some people from Villages near Bicester who I know ,and they have a once a week mini bus ,and was et down as choice was near zero.
Also the PM and his daily talk, is maybe causing the panic , but if you can get out do so even if its for an hour away just feel more relaxed when you return.
Mick

Good morning from a grey and damp Market Harborough.

Sending love and hugs to all who are suffering.

Hi Ums. According to DD as many as 20% could possibly be attending school. Yes the list is extensive but the website does say to preferably keep children at home, which is why I offered to keep GC with me. We are in our 60's and feel quite fit. We normally help two days a week anyway. As I said before my DD teacher is leaving hers at home with her DH whose business is failing rapidly. Weddings are being cancelled for the bookings he takes for his services. It's a sad story wherever you look but it's our health that remains the priority here. Keep well all, especially those who are so vulnerable and feeling mentally overwhelmed.

Good morning I hope your lockdown is not to painful and will make a big difference. I wonder if you can tell me what is happening with families who are co parenting. Are the children able to move from parent to parent? Or are they having to stay put? Thank you and keep well

GrannyGravy13 Fri 20-Mar-20 11:15:05

If only one parent is a key worker the children do not get a place in school the other parent is supposed to do the childcare.

Good morning Mick & all from dry, cloudy Nottingham.
Sorry to hear your DD’s wedding is cancelled Marydoll
Happy anniversary gillybob & your DH, the flowers are lovely.
I’m still working 2 days a week at the hospital, on annual leave now until 1st April.
Take care all, have a good day everyone x

Good morning from a breezy but dry (so far) East Midland. I’m going to be busy today making cushion covers for friends and then I might sort out my wool store and start and make some jumpers for next winter. Lock down in here as my youngest son has now come home after his office has been closed. My husband is kept busy in his man cave. God knows what’s in there as I tend to not venture in there!

I spent yesterday trying to buy tin goods to put in the food bank box, please think of them at these difficult times.

Sending love to all and hope we all get through this virus.

Mapleleaf Fri 20-Mar-20 10:37:57

gillybob what beautiful flowers. I hope you manage to get some fish and enjoy a lovely anniversary meal with your DH.

ann678tifney I’m sorry to read your very sad news.

Jaan12 Fri 20-Mar-20 10:37:07

Good morning from Fife. Sun is shining bright and the weather forecast is good. Had planned to go out this morning to do some food shopping but did not feel up to it so that will have to wait. Might get a walk later.

ann678tifney Fri 20-Mar-20 10:23:32

We got news last night that my DH brother in law had died, but with everything that is going on we won't be able to go to the funeral, my DH is very upset about it all.

ann678tifney Fri 20-Mar-20 10:21:36

Morning everyone. Sorry to hear that the wedding is of Marydoll, our 2 christenings are as well. Happy Anniversary Gillybob. Sorry to hear about your families work situation. The government has announced plans to pay for staff, but haven't been told when this will happen and more importantly how it will happen. I work in an accountants and we have a lot of small business and this could mean some of them closing, its a very worrying time and worse is that we can't give them the information they need, we just need to wait and see. DH has is eye op on Wednesday, so glad thats over with and is now home and his sight is already a bit better. Hope everyone keeps well.

gillybob Fri 20-Mar-20 10:21:35

Exactly Urmstongran the list of “key workers” is huge and remember only one parent needs to be on the list in order for the child to be able to go to school . I’m not sure why they didn’t just make a list of non key workers it would be been much shorter .

Talk about “them and us” confused

Urmstongran Fri 20-Mar-20 10:18:11

Am I the only one beginning to wonder who ‘key workers’ actually are??

Bin men - as EV mentioned
Supermarket staff
Lorry drivers & I.T. staff to stock said supermarkets!
Funeral directors?

When I think about it there are probably loads! So many children of said workers needing school. Why did we shut them again?

Sorry, just musing. It should probably have been for another thread. Ignore me!

Pussycat2012 Fri 20-Mar-20 10:17:57

Morning everyone, lovely sunny ☀️ day here in Glasgow and have just thoroughly enjoyed hanging out a few lines of washing in the garden and hearing the wood pigeons call to one another. Summers on its way! Hopefully there’s no rain left to give us April showers next month.☔️ Going to take a walk round a nearby park later and remind myself that nature is ignoring corona even if we can’t. Have a lovely day everyone and I challenge you to ? think of 3 things u are thankful for at the end of today!?

managed to get a delivery slot for Sunday hurray as done have transport and as over 70 meant to be staying at home, dry here today but cloudy with a breeze, dont seem to be getting the usual number of emails today I like to do competitions but they seemed to a lot less this week,

conor Fri 20-Mar-20 10:13:15

Oh Gillybobs! I think we are all moved to tears and no one deserves those flowers more than you! Enjoy xxx

Grandmafrench Fri 20-Mar-20 10:12:13

cambia everything you say points to your staying put with a situation that you feel, for now at least, is stable. But it’s a hard one since your OH is concerned about being stuck. If either of you is high risk, staying is probably better. If not, then maybe dealing with travel, possible delay, cancellation risks, lack of accommodation, infection exposure, isolating .... all of it.....may be worth it if you want to be together at home in the UK again. A hard decision only you can make together. Good luck!

dragonfly46 Fri 20-Mar-20 10:12:02

So sorry I missed that it is your anniversary. I hope you get your fish and have a lovely evening ???

Kalu Fri 20-Mar-20 10:07:26

Good morning all from Glasgow. The sun is shining, bed linen in the wash which I will hang in the sun later. Windows open to allow fresh air through the house?

What a wonderful new day for you Dragonfly. My best wishes for you now going forward, healthier, day by day.

What an awful disappointment for your DD Marydoll. Poor girl must be in bits.
I don’t know what else could be thrown at you gilly but your can do attitude and resilience is admirable to say the least. The role model you have set for your GC to emulate is next to none. Happy Anniversary to you and your DH ??. Being together is what counts no matter how you celebrate.

Difficult times for all of us at the moment so I send my best wishes to all, hoping we stay well during such a huge turn around in our lives to deal with?

GrannyGravy13 Fri 20-Mar-20 10:06:42

gillybob congratulations on your anniversary ?

What beautiful flowers.

In these very troubling times I think we will all be more appreciative of the simple things in life.

Cambia only you can decide, in times of trouble it is only natural to gravitate towards home.

Keep yourselves and loved ones safe and close flowers

Auntieflo Fri 20-Mar-20 09:56:30

Good morning Michael, Annie, and all.
Michael you must stay safe, as we need you to start our lovely Good Morning thread.
Firstly, congratulations and Happy Anniversary to The Gillybobs. What a beautiful bouquet.
I have only just caught up with yesterday's long thread, as there was lots to read from later posts.
Marydoll sorry to hear that the wedding is off/ postponed.
Dragonfly, well done on completing your chemotherapy.
I now can't remember what else I was going to say.
This lovely thread gets longer and more complex, but so nice to read, usually.
We will try and get our repeat prescriptions this morning, then see what the rest of the day brings.
So, to one and all, stay safe, be kind to one another and see you tomorrow.

Grannmarie Fri 20-Mar-20 09:56:03

Happy Anniversary celebrations, Mr and Mrs Gillybob, you really deserve them after all you've come through together.

Annapops Fri 20-Mar-20 09:54:31

Good morning all (haven't posted in a long time). What a changing world it now is.
The family have put us into lockdown. I was getting prepared for home schooling 3 GC next week, but that's now out of the question. My two daughters are key workers, front line social worker and yes.... a teacher ( wow some of the stuff on here yesterday was most upsetting regarding them). My teacher DD is keeping her own children at home with her DH, but working in her own school with key workers children and the vulnerable. She says she is ready to do "her bit"even though it still puts her own family at risk. It is her job and chosen profession after all.
The social worker.....well....enough said. Her two small children are taking two of those school places so that she can work. Her DH works away but once his company closes down he will have the children with him. She has said she will offer to work longer hours when he returns.
Another GS we had offered to care for is staying at home with "work from home DIL".
So, our little school will not be opening as planned on Monday morning. I must admit I was quite looking forward to dusting down those rusty skills of mine. I hadn't wanted the GC still out there mixing but it is now what it is.
Where's that paper and pen? A time to make lists of tasks to do and try and keep safe like everyone else on here.
Let's make an effort to be kind folk and think a little more of others before angry words take hold. Believe me, it doesn't help.

Cambia Fri 20-Mar-20 09:51:53

Meant to say selfish not sensitive!
