Good Morning Everyone,
Its grey but dry here in Brackley this morning.
Today, will do a basic shop this morning for those essential needs .
Go to the bank.
My planned mystery one nighter for next week , as others have withdrawn due to the virus , its been redone for September .
As to virus did my usual cafe stops in Bicester and Buckingham numbers down and with the later concerns whether or how many hours it will remain open .
Sainsburys in Bicester , although I went into the Argos section for an item I had ordered online and paid on arrival , the food section was nearly all shelves empty .
I saw some people from Villages near Bicester who I know ,and they have a once a week mini bus ,and was et down as choice was near zero.
Also the PM and his daily talk, is maybe causing the panic , but if you can get out do so even if its for an hour away just feel more relaxed when you return.
Mick

Good morning from a bright day in Essex. So sorry about the wedding Marydoll but know you will somehow make the best of it and look forward to that huge party when this is over! My day will consist of tidying another cupboard and drinking tea. A dear friend dropped a hand knitted jacket off for my new DGD. She sent a message and left it on my doorstep without either of us seeing each other. How kind was that.flowersfor Gillybobs and
Hope everyone has a good day in these troubled times xxx

Good morning from a sunny NE.
Another day of pottering around the house but at 2.30 will sit quietly as this is the time of my cousin's funeral. Five people are allowed to attend, one of her DDs will not be there as she can not travel.
We have ordered books online but we haven't received them, hoping they haven't stopped work.
From today the GC will be off school and probably both parents, they live in a village with one little corner shop and online deliveries which are taking several weeks.
Our favourite restaurant is starting takeaway meals today and they say they will carry the food to the car boot and sanitise the containers if required. They have also said they can help with staple foods. A twenty minute drive to collect food but hey what else have we got to do
and it charges the car battery.
Thinking of you gilly and all with problems.

Good morning from a darkening sky in Leicestershire.
Having a strange day today as expected to go to the hospital for a last chemo but it has been cancelled. Wondering what to do with all the paracetamol I bought in anticipation of it!
Couldn’t sleep last night but managed to get a delivery slot at Morrison’s in the middle of the night for 10th April!

Sad I cannot visit my 99 year old mother but she won’t notice. According to the care home she is fine. She likes being looked after.

My DD is coming home from Australia this weekend to no toilet rolls. I ordered her some on Amazon to be delivered sometime in April and some black ones to be delivered on Sunday.

So sorry to hear about your daughter’s wedding Mary.
Gilly these are indeed worrying times. My son’s contract will not be renewed at the end of the month. Will all this have an impact on your DD’s contract?
Megs I hope your DP is okay.
How kind you are *Urmston we all need a neighbour like you.

Good morning all from N Bucks where it seems to be trying to decide whether it is a nice day (front of the house) or threateningly cloudy (back) I’m sticking with the front.
Dragonfly your good news is a welcome light in these dubious times, Gillybob I share your worries for our AC, mine in the Arts face a precarious future , but I have to admit that I am so relieved we are spared the worry you and I would have had when, in my case Paw had been alive when your DH was so ill in ICU.
Marydoll what can I say.
For very different reasons I was where you are three weeks before DD1’s wedding 11 ears ago this month, possibly even this week, and seeing her so distraught broke my heart.
I have had a few “wobbles” fearful for all our futures, last night being one, and when I saw our village pre-school children playing happily in the little playground behind our village hall, unaware of the worries their grown ups are suffering, but have woken up feeling ...what? philosophical? resigned? reassured that we will somehow come through this? When it warms up (if) and if it stays fine I think I’ll power wash the patio. That always cheers me up!
Wishing you all well.

GabriellaG54 Fri 20-Mar-20 09:16:27

Sending my very warmest good wishes for an enjoyable evening with your DH. Gillybob
Maybe a special meal or at least some wine to toast the fact that you have both surmounted so many obstacles that would have tested the patience of a saint.
I salute you and hope that, when this terrible time is past, you can smile again when your present burdens are lifted.

Happy Anniversary Gillybob! It is still a cause for celebration even in these scary times.
Marydoll - so very sorry - you couldn’t have tried harder. The rescheduled wedding will be something lovely to look forward to when it’s all over, but for now I’m sure you will all just be in shock.
Amongst all the financial problems and future job uncertainty in our family, my GD is also leaving her school today for probably the last time. Year 6 summer term should be a lovely time with her friends, but instead it’s just “goodbye “ today.
I’m picking her up after school and taking her home till her Mum is back from work, as I didn’t want her to walk home alone with all her school stuff if she’s upset. (She is the reason my user name is the way it is... I’m no ‘Lady’ ? but it was her nickname when she was a baby).
After today I don’t think I’ll be able to see my 3 GC very much ?

Grandmafrench Fri 20-Mar-20 09:18:21

Morning ! Sunny and blue here. I’m going to steam mop all my floors - it annoys the hell out of my animals but makes me feel good. DH cutting hedges. I realise that ‘doing’ is going to help me more than worrying - so by this evening will probably be in a heap on the couch!

Hugs BlueSapphire you’re being very brave. Marydoll please don’t forget to care for yourself. You’ll get through all this frustration and disappointment as long as you can stay well. Bet when the wedding celebrations proper are able to take place, with your positivity and input your DD is going to have the time of her life to remember always. Gilly what next, I expect you’re asking yourself. As long as you can try to pace yourself, I reckon you’ll manage all of this. AsLaughterlines has said, our feathers will grow back. ? Hearts go out to you, hold on to your family, don’t fret about stuff you can’t control but carry on being capable you....and kicking ass where you can.

Have a good day and a more hopeful weekend everyone, from all the prisoners here in Cell Block H/ ??

gillybob Fri 20-Mar-20 09:23:00

I’m hoping to get some of my DH’s favourite fish from a lovely fresh fish shop up the coast (you know the one Harri) . That’s assuming the vultures haven’t been there as well. And I will open a bottle of poor mans champagne and toast our future together. A day I did not expect DH to see .

Thank you again everyone . You are all so kind xx

vena11 Fri 20-Mar-20 09:25:02

Grandmafrench Fri 20-Mar-20 09:31:44

If the fish is gone gilly, don’t blame the vultures - it’ll be the seagulls this time! Happy Anniversary to two real soldiers and many more to come. ???

Good morning from a chilly Costa Blanca. We should have been on a flight home this morning but Mr O'leary cancelled it lunchtime yesterday. Transferred it to this evening but not holding my breath. My kids think we are mad wanting to come home. The decision may be taken out of our hands. "Marydoll*how disappointed you all must feel. Such a shame all your planning is put on hold. gilly so much to take on but I know you'll get through it. Hard to hold it together for everyone else but take care of yourself too. Urmston what a good neighbour. Lancashire hotpot on the menu? Think we all have wobbles. One minute I'm in despair at the situation, the next I'm thinking well, that's another day closer to the end of this virus. Have the best day you can. (((. ))) hugs to those who need them.

Urmstongran Fri 20-Mar-20 09:38:46

We have a Ryanair flight back to Manchester on 1st April vena11 (and Framilode). Hopefully it’s good timing as all the hotels on the Costas are being emptied next Tuesday and I daresay Malaga airport will be über busy. As we have pre booked flights for the week after that, all being well we will be homeward bound.

But as we all know, the situation can turn on a sixpence. If U.K. airports (or Spanish ones) shut down then no one will be going anywhere for a few weeks.

There are, we feel, pro’s & cons for going back or for staying here!

gillybob Fri 20-Mar-20 09:39:10

I can hardly believe that these beautiful flowers have just arrived . Heres me thinking that DH won’t even know it’s our anniversary today . I’m sure DD must be behind it but I am moved to tears .

EllanVannin Fri 20-Mar-20 09:42:59

Enjoy the fish supper Mr and Mrs Gillybob and forget everything for one night ! A Happy Anniversary to Both xx

EllanVannin Fri 20-Mar-20 09:44:36

So sorry about your daughter's wedding Marydoll. Best wishes to all.

Good morning from a beautiful sunny Crete. Blue skies and a little nippy but gorgeous. The almond bushes are in blossom, the birds are singing and the bees are buzzing. The mountains are topped in snow and it all looks quiet but beautiful. Just been out for bread and it is eerily quiet. At the bakers there were a few people, standing well apart. The little mini market has pasta, loo rolls and everything you need. No one is panic buying.

Tell me then when we are trying to fly back to the Uk on Tuesday? My husband does not want to get stuck here for a long time (why not?). Our son needs help with his business in the UK and we feel guilty being here. I am terrified of getting stuck in Athens airport on Monday night and flights back to Crete and the Uk suddenly being cancelled. Hotels are closed in Athens, so what would we do?
My gut instinct is to stay here and that our son will survive without our help. Is this being terribly sensitive or sensible? If we get back to the Uk and have to self isolate for two weeks, we are not going to be much use and should we catch it whilst travelling, we will be a liability.

Advice welcome from all you sensible level headed people please.x
