Hello all, good wishes to you.

This, I hope will be practical yet light hearted.

Mr P and I did a freezer inventory yesterday, found a couple of UFO's where either we hadn't labelled, or the labels had come off blush

However it was definitely worth doing! The lonely, sad looking chicken breast with freezer burn, and of indeterminate age, was cooked for the cats.

Other items have been earmarked for future use, and the clearing has made room for other things, such as half a loaf of bread (always seem to go mouldy before we get to the end) and some of my (in)famous "random vegetable soup".

Have also started going through cupboards and chests of drawers, found things to go to the charity shop, plus things we'd forgotten about, and now feel like new additions to our wardrobe!

I will still be working, but even though I have been set up with remote access, there will be less to do, so plan to do some practical stuff around the house.

I also plan to actually use the home waxing strips that a GN member recommended, but have been languishing in the bathroom cupboard, especially now that the little salon in the village has temporarily closed. Be prepared for howling, either because I have become so hairy that I could pass for a werewolf, or the howls of pain and anguish as I rip the damn strips off!

What do you plan to do, that you wouldn't otherwise?

I cleaned my oven today, looks so lovely I really do not want to use it.

Update our wills ( black humour)
Get up to date with photos in albums
Clean the conservatory windows inside and out
Buy more plants online
Read a lot more than normal

I have attacked my closet and a bimbag full o clothes are ready to be taken, cleaned the lights in my lounge and the crystals are like sparkling diamonds - tomorrow I might tackle the light in the dining room . What else - hmmmm

vampirequeen Sun 22-Mar-20 17:24:21

We've sorted out the shed and now can't fit anything into our green bin.

Callistemon Sun 22-Mar-20 17:53:52

Well, I thought they were both frozen soup ....

DH 's was a lovely bowl of leek and potato
Mine was home-made tomato sauce for spaghetti bolognaise and rather strong! I only managed half and that was the last tub from last year's tomatoes.

Labels don't stay stuck in the freezer

phoenix Sun 22-Mar-20 17:58:12

Ha ha Callistemon you have fallen victim to a UFO!

TwiceAsNice Sun 22-Mar-20 17:59:22

Read all the books I haven’t yet got around to

Knit without guilt

Clean my under sink cupboard

I have already sorted out my wardrobe and desk and very nice they look too!

All the charity shops have closed in our town. Where are you taking the unwanted stuff?
Our bin collections too. Only landfill is being collected. Recycling has stopped. That seems such a shame.

As for these huge supermarket shops. Much of the stuff is packaging.

Luckily we have a refillery locally and get our milk in glass returnable bottles. Long may it last.
It seems like civilisation is rapidly breaking down.

Sar53 Sun 22-Mar-20 18:14:08

Sort out DH's office, so much redundant paperwork
Decorate the hall, maybe
General sorting out of drawers and cupboards

phoenix Sun 22-Mar-20 18:24:57

Grammmaretto the local pre school left bags a while ago, (this happens fairly frequently) under the "Bags 2 School" thing.

They were planning to collect around 21stApril, don't know if they still will, but bags are filled and ready!

merlotgran Sun 22-Mar-20 18:29:10

I, too need to clean the light fittings. Who knows, we might be able to see properly. grin

I've already cleared out cupboards and freezers and made an inventory. I was telling 21yr old DD1 today about it on the phone and DD messaged back later to say, 'Cheers, Mum. She doing ours and making a jolly good job of it!'

Having two adult children at home has its benefits apparently. The other one is painting the garden fence!

DD is building planters out of scrap wood for DGS who is minding the family home in Gosport with his girlfriend.

Everything else will go on as normal because we always have a lot to do outside.

We did the store cupboard and big freezer a couple of days ago and have stuck the lists on the cupboard door. We found a couple of gems, tin lentils and some turkey breasts. No UFOs though.

BBbevan Sun 22-Mar-20 19:07:59

When we have run out of things to do, DHs shed might need a sort out. It is so full of stuff there is barely room for him to stand .

Txquiltz Sun 22-Mar-20 19:16:03

DH has always hated getting rid of "really good stuff" thinking some day he might need it. This time has become his Waterloo. We have re-organized the pantry and kitchen. Today he sheepishly suggested we might do bathroom cabinets! Eureka.

Oopsadaisy3 Sun 22-Mar-20 19:16:08

Reminds me of when mum did mashed potatoes, vegetables and gravy, cut into the steak and kidney pie ( label had fallen off in the freezer ) it was apple!

So, vegetarian dinner but an unexpected bonus as we had a lovely pudding,

Grammaretto Sun 22-Mar-20 19:36:35

How do you cope with the feeling of: why bother? no-one will notice. Procrastination big time.

I have so many projects I could do but being stuck in doesn't motivate me at all.
Hey ho. I will get used to it but I can't say this house arrest suits me one bit.

Callistemon Sun 22-Mar-20 20:12:10

Grammaretto ditto
I need to have a focus because I am a procrastinater

DD2 is the same, doing homework and coursework at the last minute but always getting good results.
One teacher described it as 'back against the wall'

Not that my results are that good!

SalsaQueen Sun 22-Mar-20 20:13:27

I did all the ironing yesterday (1 1/2 baskets of it)whilst listening to music. I hoovered and washed the car today.

Cabbie21 Sun 22-Mar-20 20:33:22

Well I have had a week of procrastination but tomorrow I must start various projects.
Extra cleaning
Sorting photos, paperwork etc
Continuing family history
Reading

When all this is over the charity shops will be inundated, as we realise how few shoes, clothes, scarves and handbags we actually need.

sodapop Sun 22-Mar-20 20:47:14

Spring cleaning, washing curtains in fact anything which means I don't have to go and help my husband with the garden. grin

Gingster Sun 22-Mar-20 20:57:59

I think the days to come will be sunny but blowy, so I may wash curtains, cushion covers , blankets etc. Anything that doesn’t often get washed.

FlexibleFriend Sun 22-Mar-20 22:02:05

Pressure washing my decking, did the patio last week and it's making the decking look bad. Also been cleaning up the pond and pruning a few trees and shrubs that think they're trees We've cleaned up the outside of the conservatory and about half of the inside, problem is it gets used as a bit of a dumping ground in the winter because it's easier than taking things back to the shed when it's raining.

Jane10 Sun 22-Mar-20 22:14:20

I will absolutely have to get back to writing. No excuses. No pleading that I have to go to one of my groups and classes. I received an unexpected and very nice royalty payment last week which reminded me that it could be worth my while getting stuck back in.
