Good Morning Everyone,
Its nice bright but cold start here in Brackley this morning.
This will be the first Tuesday with a change of routine .
Bus trips are out , confined to my flat , but the only thing I may do is local Supermarket.
Waitrose have adopted a policy for the elders and NHS staff , if you need an item and its not on the shelf such as Toilet Rolls ask a member of staff to get one.

Good Morning everyone from a beautiful morning in Oxfordshire
I have to go to work....the boss lives on cloud cuckoo land and just buries his head in the sand. I can see some strong words being said today....all very stressful.
Thinking of you all and stay safe x

I read that MOTs will be waived during the crisis Marydoll as centres are closed. The AA says it's still operating. though that was yesterday's news

Oopsadaisy3 Tue 24-Mar-20 08:05:48

Good morning everybody from a bright and sunny Oxfordshire, before I forget Marydoll Michael Gove has just said that Garage’s are able to stay open to do repairs andMOTs I guess you just need to find a garage that will remain open. Please tell us the name of your wedding venue, maybe some pressure from us will help?
Such a change for us all, don’t go running if you haven’t done it before, ditto cycling! I’m heading for another amble and more gardening. Not sure now if soils and seeds will be delivered or not, although MGove says online shopping is the way to go .
Safe safe and well.

Good morning from sunny Leicestershire.

Pottering about today. Had the text to say I am not allowed out for 12 weeks! DD is designated granddoggy walker - goodness knows when we will be able to give him back.

Sad day for you kitty and sending love to gilly.

Xrgran Tue 24-Mar-20 08:07:11

I’m not worried about my mot! It’s not important and going to garage is risking my health and health of others.

It’s a lovely sunny day in Cornwall and I’m carrying on gardening. Then doing some sewing and having a family FaceTime this afternoon.

We both work from home so this is our normal and apart from not seeing family it’s not at all stressful for us. I’m looking at safe ways to help the community and hope to do some work at local market garden picking stuff to distribute locally.

Good morning everyone from a very breezy Inverness !
For the past week or so I’ve been waking up in the early hours and struggling to go back to sleep but I slept slightly better last night - yeah ,!
Yesterday afternoon we had a short walk in the woods that back onto our house - we don’t usually do that but we enjoyed it (I think .... !!) and made the most of it ?
Oooh yes and had a FaceTime call with my friend who I usually meet for coffee
Nothing different planned for today the same as many others ...
Sending virtual hugs to everyone and take care ?

Good morning from the North East coast .

I’ve decided that everyday is my worst day of the week for the moment .

I really don’t know what to do today. Go to “that place” (with some milk so I can at least have a cuppa) and spend hours trying to get through on the employers “helpline” or just stay home, worry and wait . I need to try and speak to the bank and the LA too but they weren’t answering yesterday either. I sent a few emails asking for help/advice but no replies as yet. I’m not sure there is anyone in the Town Hall ?

DD feeling very upset and scared on the phone again last night. I have to think of something to do to help her. She’s frightened and lonely . Can she go out for a walk with Evie? Can I go with them? I will have to do her shopping (and my dads of course) . Had text from my sister saying “ don’t worry we will get through this” she hasn’t got a clue and I just love the “we”.

I’ve pushed some work benches and piled loads of scrap stuff behind the back door at work which although secure is the one that is most likely to be broke into (several attempts in the past) . In the hope that I might’ve made it difficult to open .

Anyway just hoping for some information with regards paying the wages to my lads (and a little bit for us if that’s allowed) . Feeling so worried.

Thinking of all my lovely, kind Gransnet friends.

Love Gillybob xx

Good morning from a cold but sunny Chester. Not sure what to tackle today, I have a list of work around the house and garden to last months but not feeling very motivated. One minute I feel supper energetic the next sloth like. I will come out of this either fit and healthy with a spotless house and garden or three stones heavier. I know what I am aiming for just need to get out of bed and started.

Thinking about all of you who are facing difficulties. Hope you can find some peace and joy in your day.

gillybob Tue 24-Mar-20 08:14:59

Brilliant idea about the red and green cards Maw we haven’t got anything like this around here . I think they think the elderly will just manage.

Gingster Tue 24-Mar-20 08:20:11

I think the wind has died down a bit. Just had a sit on the bench in the garden and it didn’t seem too bad, as long as you’re wrapped up warm. Managed to wash curtains and cushion covers yesterday and they dried beautifully outside. Had a lovely walk along the beach and avoided the few people that we came across. Little pooch loves to chase her ball along the waters edge and then dumps it in the sea so we have to retrieve it. She’s due at the groomers tomorrow. I suppose they will be closed too. I’m not sure - I’ll ring them later. Enjoy the sunshine everyone. X

Good Morning Mick and all. Cold and sunny with us on the S Welsh coast.
Went for a walk yesterday afternoon, our neighbours were doing the same on the other side of the road. We had a few words across the Tarmac and carried on. There were pictures of coloured rainbows in some front windows, drawn by young children. Apparently it is a plan to cheer everyone up, what a nice idea.

DH mowed the back lawn yesterday, he said it was all moss, well that is his project for a bit. I have made a start on the kitchen cupboards, one a day.
I took a long time to get to sleep last night, but then surprisingly slept quite well. Going to do some baking this morning.
Hope you get the car sorted out Mary.
Thinking of all those with worries and problems, especially gilly, annsixty and Susan. I know that we will continue to support each other on this thread. Take care everyone.

Good Morning all, my DD1 put out my table and chairs on the patio yesterday , nice to see them this morning, made things seem more normal . I can take my cup out and sit , with my coat on ?
The family have a message thingy on the phones and I have been added , I might end up knowing more about them than is good !

Scentia Tue 24-Mar-20 08:28:41

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire. Warmer than yesterday and just as sunny here.
Gilly I really hope you get some help and answers today.

My DD and DGS will have to return home today, they were stopping until Friday. I do hope she takes all her ruddy mess with her? although she did disinfect my whole house yesterday, she said it looked ‘filthy’ well it was ok before they arrived, with DGS and his baby led weaning, there was food everywhere!!!
Well, not sure what will happen to our business now shops are having to close and pubs are closed as a majority of our work is for them, hey ho. I will have to ‘take each day as it comes’, if my DH knew what that felt like to a control freak he wouldn’t keep saying it.
As I walk to work and back each day with the dog and at the minute that is the extent of my exercise, I may get my tyres blown up on my bike to get a bit more. I am assuming that I still get my 1 exercise session a day!

I have got to brave the supermarket some time this week as I can’t get any delivery slots and the freezer is emptying. If my DH says once more, when you next go shop, see if they have any hand sanitizer will you, I swear I will kill him. He doesn’t believe me that the shelves are empty and the world has gone mad, he is in his little bubble of running and biking.
Take care everyone and stay safe.? A big smile to you all.

Gingster Tue 24-Mar-20 08:29:43

Oh Gillybob , your message brought tears to my eyes. What can we say to help? I’m sure your DD can go for a walk with little Evie and you could go too - just keeping a bit of a distance. It would do you all good and try to take your minds off other things, for a while. Life seems so hard for you at the moment! Hope you can get through to someone today to ease your mind. Keep strong. ??

QuaintIrene Tue 24-Mar-20 08:30:11

Good morning everyone from sunny West Yorkshire.
I am not going to listen to the news today. A day off will do me good. So I am going to watch my Prisoner dvds from the beginning.
Big cat is blissfully sunning herself in a stream of sunlight.
There is still a fair bit of traffic on the roads, but I haven’t seen anyone walk past.
My thoughts to all who are ill or troubled and everyone else please just take care. ?

Ginny42 Tue 24-Mar-20 08:32:53

Thinking in particular of your DD and Evie Gillybob, I had a Zoom business meeting last night, but it occurred to me how useful it is for communicating with different members of the family and friends. You can all see each other and join in the conversation. It's free and once you've got the hang of it it's easy.

Morning everyone, from East London. Beautiful day. Workaholic husband home as company closed. He is listening to Beethoven.
He was very sorry to hear that we can still go to our allotment. Not his favourite place. But that means I can go and escape.
All best wishes to all of you.
Am bored already. Thank goodness for Gransnet.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. We are promised a bright reasonably warm day in South Yorkshire today. Gardening is on the cards - gardening is good for the soul! I am expecting a new kettle to be delivered some time today as the other one turned up it’s toes at the weekend. I am trying not to dwell too much on the current situation. I am worried for my DD and SiL as they are keeping us afloat at the moment but I don’t want them to do it at the expense of their own health and needs. They have enough to worry about. One day at a time will be my motto from now, and I wish you all continued good health.

GrannySomerset Tue 24-Mar-20 08:36:35

Not quite sure how I feel this morning but I know we will cope somehow. Need to put together Easter packages for GC since we won’t see them and take them to post - legitimate exercise, obviously. DG1 is getting John Carey’s A little History of Poetry to back up her A Level studies since she will have time to read around the subject. Whether she will is of course another matter!

Hello from a very grey Co Antrim. Yesterday I met a friend to go for a walk in a local park keeping our distance but it suddenly closed. Now life has changed. I worry about her as she doesn't even use a mobile let alone the internet and is very alone. A very difficult time for so many.

Urmstongran Tue 24-Mar-20 08:42:38

Good morning everyone from Malaga where it’s wet and miserable again.

I tried posting ages ago but the WiFi signal is rubbish in this heavy cloud. I had lots of messages - to individuals - but I think short is the only way today.

X

Urmstongran Tue 24-Mar-20 08:46:55

Hey it went! Perhaps I could send my GM message in small bites ha!

Plan to walk up & down the landing at the front door. It’s under cover and in the fresh air. We are not allowed out to exercise here and I don’t think walking from the sofa to the bathroom is enough!

To those who have sent me p,m’s I can see them in my inbox but at the moment they won’t open ...
?

Hope Tuesday is kind to us all in these dystopian times. x

BladeAnnie Tue 24-Mar-20 08:48:41

Good morning from a sunny mid-Notts. Such uncertain times ahead for us all and we need to stay strong together. After reading everyone's worries etc it seems really selfish of me to say this but I am just to get it off my chest. DOH and I were due to get married at gretna in may and obviously this is off for the foreseeable future. I've sort of known for the past few days this would happen and in the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter as long as we are all safe and well. I can't help feeling a bit sad though. Sorry if that sounded a bit just about me. Stay safe everyone and any Tuesday be kind to us all x

Good Morning nice and sunny here today again.
I am like you [Quaintirene] I am going to try not to watch the news today.
I had a face time with DGD yesterday she said she is allowed to do it after home schooling is finished they are keeping to a timetable, she is six and such a chatter box.
Its such a scary time and I wish everyone to try and have an anxious free day flowers

Good morning from a very chill north of Scotland. I feel very lucky to have a patio to sit out on and remember the days of living in a very tiny tenement flat. Although there was a back green for hanging out washing it wasn’t particularly appealing and we each had one allotted day to use it. Not allowed to use it on a Sunday. Going to be very British and drink tea.
