Good Morning Everyone,
Its nice bright but cold start here in Brackley this morning.
This will be the first Tuesday with a change of routine .
Bus trips are out , confined to my flat , but the only thing I may do is local Supermarket.
Waitrose have adopted a policy for the elders and NHS staff , if you need an item and its not on the shelf such as Toilet Rolls ask a member of staff to get one.

Good morning from a sunny Essex and hard to believe what's going on around us!Workout with Joe Wicks at 9, Yoga on Zoom at 11, coffee group Face Time at 2, Boris at 5 and Gareth Malone's Great British chorus at 5. 30!
How will I get time to tidy that cupboard?
Had a chat with neighbour at the end of our gardens.Very safe and big distance between us as we couldn't see each other as very large trees between us but somehow managed to catch up!
Played Generation Game on Facetime with DGS's and they loved it. Very easy to set up and play.
Will read all the posts later but wishing everyone the best day possible xxxx

Ah you will be feeling hugely disappointed BladeAnnie which is quite understandable. Your feelings are yours and quite valid.

My DS said his son (10) is working away on a topic for school but he was having trouble getting his 2 girls to do any homework (12 and 14) so he has set them a list of household tasks that need doing . Yesterday was washing the kitchen units and floors. He said they’re be begging to do homework by Wednesday . grin

BladeAnnie, not selfish at all,it’s a huge disappointment for you.Hopefully it can be rearranged in the not too distant future?
Gilly?

gillybob Tue 24-Mar-20 09:01:23

Do you have a camera on your phone Annie? If you have then lie one hand down and photograph it with the other . Obviously will need to send 2 separate photos . Assuming you can hold the phone in one hand that is . Good luck

Lisagran Tue 24-Mar-20 09:05:17

Annie - there’s a timer function on the camera on iPads.

Good morning from a sunny NE.
I have never seen our street so full of cars, I don't think there can be any key workers here.
DH filled the car with fuel last night one hour before the lockdown was announced, he also did some basic shopping.
I was unhappy that he went in but he said there was only about ten people in the entire shop. DH and the cashier had latex gloves on. He bought some fresh fruit but there were no eggs available.
I am so sorry gilly, your life is difficult at the best of times and now this added problem.
Thinking of you all.

Morning from cold but very sunny East Coast. I am going to spend the day sewing face masks for London hospital today. If this is not a hoax will post in separate thread later after I have checked it out. You need old shirts or other material that washes at 40degrees sewing machine and some binding. Sewing ladies among you know how to make a bit of bias and tapes so no prob with that. I guess nurses won’t mind mismatched stuff as we can’t get to shops.

Keep safe everybody think we grans are the most sensible in our neighbourhood let’s show em how it’s done.

Stay cool we can do this x

Good morning Mick & all from bright, sunny Nottingham.
Bike ride y’day around local park, very quiet no access for cars now.
Did a fitness class y’day evening via Zoom was very good will definitely do again, more for interaction with others than exercising, very easy to access as Ginny42 said.
Chatted on WhatsApp with work colleagues last night who are also on leave this week we are key workers in NHS all a bit nervous about our return.
Thoughts with Gillybob & all with worries or unwell, take care & stay safe.

Good morning from a beautiful sunny, but still chilly Cheshire. Hope it warms up like yesterday, we all need some warm sun on our bones. Missing the DGC, but our DIL sent us a beautiful video of their first day of home schooling (hmm, some schooling, and lots of other activities!). It was lovely seeing both of them up to all sorts. Feel for their mum and dad though, both are supposed to be working from home, but it's proving very difficult with two lively children. I suggested they do their work in the evening if it's possible. Wish I could babysit to help out.

Might wash the cars today, just for something to do, but will wait until it gets warmer, it's freezing out there at the moment! Hope Gilly gets some answers today, she has enough to worry about, without adding financial problems to her lot. Take care everyone.

Lisagran and Laughterlines GN at it’s best ladies!

Good Morning All x
Another beautiful morning and day in prospect. Wouldn't it be awful if the weather had joined in with the news ? sad

Sad day for someone here on Merseyside as the first death has been reported. He was 78 with health problems. sad I know the staff will now be pulling all the stops out to contain the infection. God bless them all. Wonderful people.

It's 3 weeks since I " mingled " at Asda and have only hurtled to the local shops since, so here's hoping. I realise I'm on my own with nobody else in the house to worry about but I really feel for many others who do have family at home. x

I don't know about anyone else but now and again I find it hard to put my mind to doing anything----must be me.

I do hope the Gillybob's are alright. Theirs is probably the worst situation to be in right now--it couldn't be any worse I'm sure. xx As if things hadn't been bad enough.
The hardship that this is going to cause doesn't bear thinking about.

Also hope Urmstongran is doing okay along with others caught up in this who are overseas.
Please stay safe and well everyone xx

Urmstongran Tue 24-Mar-20 09:25:49

Morning EV - no, not just you I’m sure about ‘putting your mind to anything’. Most of us will at some point of the day (or during the night which is worse) have a jittery mind and jump to ‘what ifs’. It’s hard at times to focus or motivate isn’t it?

If this message does get to surface I’d also like to say I hope you manage to get some information today gillybob X

Good morning from a gloriously sunny Birmingham. I managed to tidy up the balcony yesterday and plant out the M&S seedlings I had planned to plant with my grandchildren. They will have to watch them grow via FaceTime now. I’m going to the park for a solitary wander later. I’m sad I won’t be able to go with a friend, who walks with a stick and won’t want to go on her own. She has been quite depressed, and a walk in the sunshine has been lifting her spirits. We had a good chat, via our phones, from our respective balconies at g&t time yesterday. I was surprised to see a queue outside Aldi this morning- what are people buying? I am in my third week without shopping, and I reckon I can last another two without going for fresh fruit and vegetables. I’m surprised someone on here has talked about going in their campervan- not a good idea, and probably banned anyway.
Have as good a day as you can, everyone!

BladeAnnie Tue 24-Mar-20 09:33:28

Thank you all for your kind words - virtual hugs all around the ??

Marydoll Tue 24-Mar-20 09:42:07

BladeAnnie, I'm so sorry. I know exactly what you are going through. flowers

Marydoll Tue 24-Mar-20 09:43:08

Xgran, how unkind. sad. You may not need a drivable car, but we do. Getting an MOT is not a trivial matter for us.
The garages here are all now closed.

I have to receive treatment on Monday in a hospital , an hour's drive away and my husband needs the car to be able to drive me there, as I'm in the highest risk category.
He is not worried about the MOT, he is worried about getting me the necessary treatment.

My pharmacy is a half an hour's drive away, they don't deliver and as two of my family members are in the vulnerable group , it's all become so difficult.

This used to be such a kind thread, where we all supported each other. sad

Scentia Tue 24-Mar-20 09:47:35

My DD and DGS have just popped into the factory to say goodbye and DD said she had accidentally left a bag of dirty washing in the utility room, if I want to wash and dry it I can (how kind!!) and drop it on her doorstep at the weekend. I have asked her to send me a daily video of DGS as he is so close to walking, she said "you only normally see him once a week anyway why do you need a video every day?" I couldn't answer that!!
I have read all the posts so far and we all seem very positive about our predicaments and very concerned about each others situations, I am quite humbled by this thread each morning and will be glad of it in the coming weeks I am sure.

Auntieflo Tue 24-Mar-20 09:53:15

Good morning Michael, Annie and all.
What a lovely lot you are with your little bits of news and upbeat comments.
Gillybob, along with others, I do so hope you can get some answers to your worries, and I wish I could have a big win on the Premiun Bonds, so I could share it. The most I have won is a couple of £25.
Not sure what to do today, but as it is sunny, maybe an hour in the garden would do us good. I used to be able to spend all day outside, but an hour is about as much as I can do now.
We went for a 10 minute walk around the block yesterday afternoon, as we need some exercise, and that is as much as DH can manage at the moment. He has been diagnosed with a blockage in his leg and is now on blood thinners.
I may make some pastry later and make a quiche, which will do us for a couple of days.
Lisagran, thanks for the help you gave Annie. I didn't know about the timer function on IPad. Another skill learnt.
Marydoll, words fail me as to the attitude of the wedding venue owner. Surely he will have to refund the costs you have incurred?
NfkDumpling, will you be allowed to isolate in your campervan now, after yesterdays restrictions?
Take care and keep safe everyone, and enjoy your day as much as possible.

Scentia Tue 24-Mar-20 10:02:42

Marydoll I think Kwikfit are remaining open and they do MOT tests. There will be one near to you I bet.xx

Mapleleaf Tue 24-Mar-20 10:03:35

Good morning all.

A lovely, sunny morning though still chilly.

Another day of pottering about. Would normally go to see my friend for coffee today or she would come here, but that's off the agenda. I will phone her later though.

I have got things to do indoors, so will get on with those and also pop out for my designated once a day excercise (a walk around the block) whilst we are still allowed to do so.

You don't realise what you took for granted until you can no longer do it, do you? Oh well, I'm consoling myself that it will not last for ever, but know that the coming months are going to be difficult for all of us.

? gilly and to all with difficulties and worries.

Take care, everyone.

Urmstongran Tue 24-Mar-20 10:06:27

Imagine the wonderful family/street parties we can all look forward to this summer.

Mary surely MOTs will be cancelled in these strange times. I do hope you make your hospital visits and get your medicine. We too have medicines to get and not sure how to do it.
