Soop's welcoming kitchen for the sharing of...
(1001 Posts)Hello my lovelies. At last I can open up and prepare for a wee buffet to celebrate our new refuge.
Welcome!
Good morning my lovelies. GrannyGravy and anno I checked Mountaineering Matt's website for donations to Medecins San Frontieres a short time ago. The total now stands at £1045...
I also enjoyed the Queen's speech. I found her closing words especially moving.
Boris is also in my thoughts. Get well soon Mr Prime Minister.
N&G You are one kind and considerate Nana. Jackson must love you very much.
Pittcity I would steer well clear of Galen's diagnosisis (is that a real word?) because she's inclined to be mischievous from time to time...in the nicest possible way.
Bright sunshine outside the window. I'm awaiting a delivery of a kneeling garden thingy with handles to help me stand without toppling a* over t**. It also has pockets in which to keep certain garden tools handy. And it converts into a seat...should I wish to take a breather and take in the view.
Good morning all. Well, Monday is go get that shopping day! Hate it, so I send a very willing DH. I worry about both of us, but we have no fresh food in the fridge and we haven't been out for 2 weeks, so something needs to be done. He is sneaking into the supermarket when all sensible French are eating lunch so hopefully he'll not have any problems.
You little boy is getting very famous, Soop. Tell him he needs to time any necessary replacement knee surgery with the ending of all Covid problems, otherwise his next project might have to be lying on the couch, "swimming the Channel" in a sort of Shelley Winters/ Poseidon Adventure moment,
. Ooh the shame !
Fabulous day here. Photo of my crazy coloured succulents in the sun. Very strong sun today so keeping away from that and the sunscreen until I can sit out with my book, otherwise all that stickiness interferes with bed making etc.,
Loved the references on the forum to The Queen's Speech - reminded me of the wonderful film about her own Father's speech impediment. Really enjoyed that in a French cinema. I was watching the original version, all the French watching with sub-titles. They all thought it was an amazing story.
You'll have to save my contribution - spicy chilli, caraway thin pastry crisps - to have with your 9pm G&T in the kitchen today. I'm off anything sweet - hopefully before I explode in an attention-seeking way all over my newly-cleaned tiles. NannyT oh, serious catering problems then !!!!!
Have a good day everyone. Let's make the absolute best of the absolute worst - stick together and smile.
Morning all,
Considering I’m in lockdown I have no idea where the time goes !
I love your list of important things NannyT !!
I have just ordered some soap and special hand cream to be delivered to young Jackson. He has always had delicate skin but all this hand washing has reduced his hands to a bleeding, cracked and sore mess. We’ve tried a number of things but the cream almost inevitably stings and he doesn’t like it. So fingers crossed the new stuff will help .
Congrats to Matt the mountaineer Soop !
I agree Galen I thought the Queens speech was spot on.
I didn’t like that the speech was leaked Lins , I would have much preferred to wait and hear it for the first time from the lady herself.
It’s a grey wet day here and I was going to tackle the ironing mountain but maybe not ?
Hope you’re all staying well !
I crawled out of bed today to go to a local M&S food store and join the elderly and decrepit queue 8-9am. There was no queue, only a man in front being told he cannot empty the shelf contents into his trolley- it was two of certain items.
There was plenty of everything if one was willing to pay the price which a Scot like me was not. 5 eggs £2.80, in Morrisons 90p. Loo rolls were much cheaper this week so maybe things are slowly recovering.
There was an abundance of staff shelf stacking to the point they were clogging aisles but it was on the whole well organised.
I cannot get a Morrison's slot online for love or money for this month so I think I may do a weekly shop somewhere.
TOYA
soop, I am full of admiration for Matt. If he wants to wear out another stair carpet, he is welcome to use mine. I am so impressed that he is raising money for MSF, my favourite charity, who do such noble work in all kinds of challenging situations and they must be quite stretched in the present crisis.
Galen, I can hardly wait to find out what role you will have as a dis-retired medic. I think you have set them a challenge.
Good idea Pittcity! Don’t be a spoil sport Galen! ?
Well done with Asda Callgirl. I have only managed to book two click and collects since this thing started. One is in two weeks time and the second is the week after. I think a trip to a supermarket may have to happen, as we are running out of some important things. ( gin, sherry, peanuts ..,)
The ironing calls .
Look after yourselves.
soop I think I saw your son (Matt?) this morning on the news, they said he had climbed Ben Nevis using the stairs in his flat to raise money for Medicine sans Frontiers - you must be so very proud ?????
Aaaaagh! NO!
Maybe we can post videos of our ailments to Galen for her to diagnose?
Soop, don`t worry about not being able to greet David as you go past, he`s probably wondering why it`s so quiet though! By the way, very well done to your lovely Matt!
Galen, can`t you deputise for Boris, we need a strong woman in charge?
Yippee, I`ve snaffled myself a click and collect slot for Thursday with Asda. There weren`t any available this morning, I only clicked on by chance tonight and there they all were, so I grabbed one fast! My youngest son is going to pick it up for me. I thought his wife would have had an NHS letter, as she has vasculitis, very diminished kidney function, but no, she doesn`t qualify.
Run the country Galen in your case I would think ?. I hear Boris is in hospital. Perhaps he’ll be calling for your services any day now!
Yes Galen it was very moving indeed.
By the way, having signed up for nhs work again, I’m waiting to hear what a disabled 75 year old with no transportation can do?
Soop mischief? Me? Never.
Unfortunately I don’t have opportunity otherwise I might!
Wasn’t her Majesty’s speech wonderful. I found it very moving.
I have been looking forward to tuning in to the Queen's broadcast tonight.
I will still do so but on the other hand I already know most of what she is going to say thanks to the Sunday Papers. ?
Hope your GD is better soon dragonfly, sounds really painful.
Thinking of you and your family Susan and I'm sure that your little GS will be better soon.
CherryChezzy ?
Hugs to all who need them, I think that's most of us xx
It is the time to wish you all a peaceful Sunday evening. I continue to think of you all. It's what we do.
A G&T has my name on it. However, it's a rule that we wait until 9:pm. Somehow, it tastes all the better for resisting the urge to taste it sooner. Or so we believe.
Take the best possible care of yourselves. I look forward to joining you again tomorrow.

I was feeling all smug as I remembered what it was called, eureka - spacehopper. Got there before me GranEd ??
I've never got to grips with the Welsh language Lins . Compulsory until the age of 14 of course. The Welsh language teacher wanted me to take the O'level but I didn't want to. I only speak one language - Wenglish ?. I don't think Alexa has any idea what that is ?
It is bound to be a worry Susan . The dieticians are generally very good and they will work it out.
Right madam (I'm talking to myself!!) better sort this food in the oven out, I'm starving!
I have pinched a slice of that beautiful bread though Izabella to devour en route ?
Smileless I meant to type "good self".
Susan56 The sooner the dietician's plan is put into action, the better. Thinking of you at this difficult time.
Soop,he has refused to eat anything today? So is actually looking better than he did yesterday. We have had lots of advice from lovely gransnet tees and lots of reassurance too so DD waiting now to hear from the dietician to see which plan to put into action.I think it’s going to be trial and error for a while.
Dragonfly, what a nasty injury for your DGD,glad she is in good spirits.
Anno,hope you are feeling better.
Love the look of the seeded soda bread Izabella?
Spacehopper! Thank you for putting me out of my misery. Now I can relax a little.
Spacehopper, that's right. Well done GranEd.
DD was telling me about the grandfather of a work colleague, he's first language Welsh and quite a character by all accounts. She gave her GF an Alexa for Christmas and as he can't go out, he's been using it a lot more. However he's getting very frustrated with Alexa though as she isn't doing as she's told!
??
I love reading in bed too soop and charleygirl but I find I keep nodding off. When I Start the book again the next day I can’t remember what I read the night before
Well done son of soop what a good idea.
Thanks for all the goodies izabella and smileless
Smileless Those animals are truly blest to have been adopted by your goos self.
Galen Are you managing to keep out of mischief? An almighty big ask...
I shall have a wee, wash my hands for the umpteenth time, make a
and return to a watercolour painting that needs my attention.
I shall return a little later.
