My opposite neighbour put a rainbow in her window this morning.
As I have no paints I put a large teddy in mine for the bear hunt children to spot.
Within half an hour my neighbour put two teddies in her windows, I want to put more in mine but my GD won't let me.
She says I am being childish.
Childish ? Moi??

Carillion01 Wed 01-Apr-20 13:50:57

annsixty, love it. Please add more bears x ??

soop Wed 01-Apr-20 13:53:47

CherryCezzy Wed 01-Apr-20 14:20:05

I too have put a teddy bear in a window for the children on their count.
Yes please Carillion I'll order one of them wink for the Community Council volunteer to collect when I put in my next shopping order ( just need to find a place to hide him from my WP).

As a former grower, it would break my heart to have to throw away all my crop of plants. My little nursery was on a quiet road much used by walkers and cyclists, so if I was still trading now, I would set up a little stall of plants with a notice saying " Help yourself and please leave a donation for the local hospital".

A warm hello to my kitchen friends.I thought perhaps it might be rather interesting to some of you hearing how life is in reality here within this Establishment of Sheltered Housing now we are in this period of Quarantine.

Whilst now every resident is mainly living within the confines of their own flat, there are no lunch time gatherings in our Dining room where we eat and chat awhile.Bingo,Knitting groups etc have all been cancelled, and of course we have no individual cleaners. No family or friends can visit. However we have our Lunchtime hot meal delivered to each door, and a friend or family member can bring food or medicines to leave at our door.
Some of us have availed ourselves of a Tesco slot, but very sadly there are no more for April in our area.

On the bright side we are far from forgotten.A call centre calls on us both at around 9 am each morning to check upon us,our Warden, now strictly at home, `phones us all once weekly.
Whilst local school children have been filling our windows with beautiful drawings of rainbows. We personally have had several letters from school children from the other side of the County, simply wishing us well, telling us we are not forgotten and advising us of ways to keep motivated!
Very touching indeed.Surely that ensures the youth of today will grow up with compassion in their hearts.

Our garden that surrounds us here is well used and it is quite a picture seeing folk get around, be it on foot, scooter ,wheelchair or zimmer frame!
However with many being hard of hearing it is quite a nightmare exchanging comments whilst ensuring we are all 2 metres apart!!!
Of course when the sun shines the gathering increases, whilst however frail we both may be, we brave the elements in all but rainy days.

Whilst in my own case I enjoy my writing, although nowadays it has to be done in short stages, reading your posts brings many a smile and some laughter.......as well as
those sober moments hearing of varied issues.

Love and every blessing to you all.
Panache

dragonfly one of the problems with being dyslexic is that I occasionally (often) misread things. I did find it strange that when your husband came back from the GP you intended to strip and fume at him. I couldn’t understand why you had to be naked to tell him off blush

CherryCezzy Wed 01-Apr-20 15:20:05

That's a great idea chicken, I've been thinking that quite a few (not the 'chain' ones) could do the same thing. I've also been thinking that the chains could donate to community gardens etc but I'm not sure who's plant them - something ( highly unlikely) could possibly be arranged but it would probably (unless authorised) be forbidden under the rules we all need to follow. Oh hum!

Dreamkeeper aka Panache the quarantine has its bu........ns, makes me think of the Matrix films - we're all living in a virtual world a lot of the time. Sending warm blessings to you too ?

Doodle Wed 01-Apr-20 15:24:27

carillion I’m with you, I think you ought to put more teddies in your window ann. What a lovely gesture.
panache I am so glad you are both safe in your new home. It’s so nice to hear you talking about the place. It sounds as though you are happy there. What a lovely thing for the local children to do. Take care x

Doodle Wed 01-Apr-20 15:24:55

TOYA ?

Susan56 Wed 01-Apr-20 15:37:06

We have been busy decorating for the last couple of days, just popped into the kitchen on my tea break to see we are now on page 6 of this very new kitchen!
Carillion, glad your husband is doing so well.
Ann,I really think you have to add more bears????
Panache,so pleased you are settled and that even in quarantine you are being so well looked after. How lovely of the schoolchildren to send letters and drawings.
Soop,I was in awe of what your son is planning to do but now you have said he has to use an inhaler?wow, incredible, definitely his mother’s so .x
Thinking of you all?

annodomini Wed 01-Apr-20 15:37:40

I have a very old teddy - a bare teddy - given to me the day I was born, so he must be at least 80 as I will be in November. He might be too old to sit in the window but I will ask him.
Well he agreed, a bit grumpily, but there won't be many children passing as the schools and some nurseries are out.
If you knew my baking record, you would recoil in horror at the news that I have been baking. As I haven't tasted chocolate for two weeks (at least), I thought I would bake a chocolate cake which has come out of the oven perfectly risen. It would pass muster on Bake-off. Now I just have to make butter cream for the filling and put it in the kitchen for your approval.

kittylester Wed 01-Apr-20 16:11:37

I've just popped in to say that there can never be too many bears in windows, imo!! We have 3!

I'll steal a very large lady like piece of chocolate cake and be back later.

soop Wed 01-Apr-20 16:30:59

We've been gardening since just after lunch. Good results! The gentle rain is falling. Now indoors for a brew and a shower.

I shall pop in to say hello to all those who have posted this afternoon. After which, I shall flop into my chair and reeeeeeeeelax

Grandmafrench Wed 01-Apr-20 16:32:48

Doodle How are you? I have 3 friends who are dyslexic and sometimes we laugh and say that with predictive text often taking over what we write on our computers, dyslexia would hardly be noticed. The absolute nonsense that corrects things I write sometimes would probably be more interesting if I just left it like that! Loved your picture of dragonfly attempting to sort out her DH !

annodomini Wed 01-Apr-20 16:33:11

Ooooh soop, our summer is in ruins. They've cancelled Wimbledon! sad
