Good Morning Everyone,
I am up at my usual time , its twilight out there but looks dry and clear at the moment here in Brackley.
Today, semi self isolate , maybe a small shop , but trying not to spend more time on computer or watching TV.
The residential home i live in, we all had an internal letter as to the current situation, and obeying those orders made by not using the community lounge, , there is a group of around 6 who think they run the place whilst the management are not about by creating there own rules.

Good morning all. I bounce out of bed (well nearly) and look forward to my cuppa and gransnet. It really is a great start to the day. Like having a bunch of pals round for a natter. ?. While DH Snoozes on in bed. I queued in the pharmacy for 35 minutes yesterday for dh’s prescription and a few bits for my elderly SIL. Kept thinking I shouldn’t be in here. Wished I had a mask. DH got the papers for us and neighbours. I know they’re all older than us but dh was 70 last November and I will be 70 in July (GW) . Not going again! ?. Have gammon joint in slow cooker so we shall look forward to that late afternoon. All I seem to think about is the next meal. Yes Bluebell gale force winds on the Suffolk coast. Poured with rain about 5 o’clock but sunny again now. Can you still go to your allotment? Peaceful minds and gentle thoughts everyone. X ☺️

I had to come back and post a pic of these daffodils.
DH and I went for a walk down the wooded lane behind our house, a wee while ago, knowing we wouldn't see a soul.
In the midst of the undergrowth were lots of daffs growing wild.
For me, it was a symbol of hope in these dark times. The sun has come out and for the moment, I feel uplifted.

Auntieflo, the banana loaf is a non starter. The bananas have started to ferment! Not wanting to waste them, I wonder if I could make banana rum? ?

Kalu Sun 29-Mar-20 09:55:39

Good morning all from a cloudy /blue skies but chilly Glasgow.

Like others have mentioned we too are now avoiding constant media coverage and only watching government updates. Too much negative overload otherwise.

Another day looking for things to keep busy. Some gardening, some housework, catchups with family and watching TV. Best bit, books to pick up and escape into another world??

Happy Anniversary Oldgoat ? and Bon appétit for later.

Hope you are feeling a bit better today Whywhywhy. Looking forward to hearing from you as you join the rest of us muddling through.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Good morning from the NE where we have just had a hail shower.
I wasn't in the garden yesterday, thought it was too cool.
I am not watching any news on TV, we are watching programmes that have been recorded like dramas.
Collecting drugs from pharmacy is a fiasco at present, shorter opening hours and prescription typically taking a week to process. Queues round the car park and closing the premises at lunchtime.
I haven't heard from DC for more than 24 hours but younger sister checks up on us each day. She had obtained a delivery of fresh vegetables, where she lives there are lots of family run shops.
It was BIL's 80th birthday yesterday and of course all celebrations were cancelled. They are in Germany and he is classed as extremely vulnerable as he is being treated for lung cancer. They have no family at all and no internet shopping.
Have the best day you can. The sun has just come out.

Elegran Sun 29-Mar-20 10:02:04

Marydoll If you can make marrow rum out of a marrow, then why not banana rum out of a banana?

Urmstongran Sun 29-Mar-20 10:03:32

Thanks for posting again EV. No, no flour hence finding the granules whilst rooting!

Washing pegged out on line thingy which is bolted to the balcony. Lovely seeing sheets in the sunshine!

Himself has just been ‘helping’. Swept the tiled floor, caught the broom handle on the iPad charger flex which tipped the small coffee table and the plant pot smashed on the tiles. Honestly it’s like ‘housework with Mr. Pastry’ here ...

Have spent 12 quid already at vets on painkiller drops for him , take care all stay safe keep posting you all make my day.

Kalu Sun 29-Mar-20 10:38:03

Sounds exactly like my DH Urmstongran. I’m pretty sure they do it on purpose, part of their get out plan?
Chuckled at the reference to Mr Pastry?. Will be renaming DH today! He really isn’t a DIY type at all so it’s BIY in this house; Break It Yourself accompanied by ?? when he loses the plot. ??

Urmstongran Sun 29-Mar-20 10:41:11

Slapstick has always been my favourite type of comedy Kalu. I adored Mr. Pastry on tv when I was a kid! Giggles galore.
?

Urmstongran Sun 29-Mar-20 10:43:18

chad I wonder if they are all distant cousins? Three times removed or somesuch (I could never get the hang of all that!).

Kalu Sun 29-Mar-20 10:44:47

Me too. I used to feel so sorry for him but couldn’t stop giggling at the same time ?

Scentia Sun 29-Mar-20 10:45:31

Urmston
Just looked up Mr Pastry as I had never heard of him, being so young?. It has made me laugh watching it❤️

Morning all from a white-skied South Notts, there's rain on the windows but the pavement looks dry.
Will gird my loins for the usual supermarket shop this morning and wonder what on earth it will be like. It's been very unusual over the last couple of weeks, two weeks ago jam-packed, last week deserted after the mad rush. It's quite something to dread shopping isn't it?
Hope all is well with you all.

aggie Sun 29-Mar-20 10:56:35

Good Morning all, lovely and sunny here but what a cold wind! I am all behind this morning, phone calls and video calls so nice reasons
I have made banana bread with fermenting fruit , so long ago , but it was ok as far as I remember . One GD will only eat bananas if they are “ spotty “ , they are sweeter then I expect
I have been self isolating for ages , DD makes sure I don’t venture out , it took me some time to get out and about after coming here to our wee village when I got married . Ended up on every social committee and know everyone local , but I don’t have a special chum . My kids all have friends from school , all now with children , some with Grandchildren, they all have special chums too , think I am an oddity

Good morning Mick and fellow GMs from a sunny, very blustery and cold Gower.
Beechnut flowers
Happy anniversary ? oldgoat to you both.
Grandmafrench glad you are feeling better but take it easy with those broken ribs brew ?
Thanks for answering my nosey question Mythbirthdragon smile
I now have the same nosey question for Nortsat. Do you or any of your family support an East London football team (my WP originates from East London and we support the same team). If any of you do, may I ask which one?
Seems to be quite a few GMs cooking a chicken dinner today. Snap!
Like so many of you I too am steering clear of the news, except the daily briefing. Too overwhelming by far.
My WP and me have both been concerned for his sister who lives on her own 240miles away. She has spinal issues and bad arthritis but like so many has been doing everything on her own. Yesterday she went out to get some shopping and on the way back she fell. Fortunately a young couple were passing, couldn't help her up of course but carried her shopping back to her flat (three storeys up) and asked her to promise to ask them for help if she needs it. They exchanged numbers and they are going to ring her every few days. She was quite emotional about such kindness when we spoke to her yesterday. We hope they carry out their promise as it will help put our minds at rest a little.
Gosh, that spring forward in time has caught me out this morning, I feel quite discombobulated!!
Hope those of you who have been experiencing wobbles have a better day today. Thinking of those of you who are ill or experiencing other travails.
Be kind to yourselves ❤️

gillybob Sun 29-Mar-20 10:57:30

A late good morning from the North East coast where we have had more hailstone this morning and it’s quite cold.

Like others I am trying to avoid the news as much as I can and have advised DD to do the same. I think we are all depressed enough. My DS rang Sky to ask if he could either cancel his subscription or have a payment holiday for a few months as he doesn’t expect to get paid anything until May. He was met with a very unhelpful “No” . I’m not sure how they expect people with no income to manage. Normally I would try and help but we are in the same (well worse ) boat.

So sorry to hear of your bad experience with Codeine GrandmaFrench my DH takes them every day and thankfully suffers no adverse effects. You must’ve been terrified. I’m glad you are feeling a bit better now. flowers

Wishing The old Goats a very happy wedding anniversary. I hope you have the best day possible . flowers

I’m running out of jobs to do here at home and it’s far too cold and wet to be in the garden at the minute. Will have to have a little walk later and find something to do to fill my day or I will go bonkers.

I do hope your little granddaughters birthday wish comes true kittylester smile

Thinking of all my lovely Gransnet Friends. Stay safe and well everyone.

Love Gillybob xx

Good morning from a bright, albeit very cold Black Country.

Made my daily call to my 90 year old Mum, who luckily still sounds upbeat. Partner has just gone on a bike ride.

I felt quite down yesterday afternoon. So had a lie down and read my book, then snoozed. Had a bit of a sore throat, so you can guess what I was thinking! Seems to have passed now though.

Mr Pastry! That's a blast from the past Urmston . Ever Decreasing Circles was one of my favourite comedies too BlueSapphire(think it was you who mentioned it smile ) I used to like a comedy called Watching. Anyone remember that?

I too wake up in the mornings and for a few seconds forget! I had a dream last night that we were on holiday in China! But everyone there was English, and got chatting to someone from Wolverhampton (where I was brought up). Our subconscious works in mysterious ways.

Happy Anniversary oldgoat

Wishing everyone the best day possible

Ginny42 Sun 29-Mar-20 11:16:30

I said to my friend this morning, 'My friend in York says it's snowing' and realised I've started referring to you all as 'my friend'. My friend in Malaga; my friend in Glasgow. smile

Also thought you might like to hear that last evening parents near my DD went outside and clapped the children for coping so well with being cooped up inside and doing their lessons online. They could hear it echoing across the hillside.

moggie Sun 29-Mar-20 11:25:31

Good morning Mick & all, sun just peeping through the clouds in windy Nottingham.
Happy anniversary oldgoats.
Beef casserole made for dinner later.
Will do some ironing later, Something I avoid until absolutely necessary.
Glad you’re ok*Grandmafrench*.
Take care all & stay safe, have a good day

Mapleleaf Sun 29-Mar-20 11:37:02

Good morning all,

A brightish morning, but very breezy and cold. DH is cutting the grass.

Happy anniversary to Mr and Mrs oldgoat. ??

Sorry to read that you had such a scary time, grandmafrench and hope you are feeling a bit better this morning.

Best wishes to all of you, take care. ?

Purplepixie Sun 29-Mar-20 11:50:39

Good morning all from the East Midlands where it is sunny and quite breezy but cold this morning. We did change the clocks last night but after a week of poor sleep I decided to stay in bed. I am trying to keep up beat and my birthday the other day was much better than expected with the children and grand children on the phone. Chloe, bless her, aged 11 just wants to see her friends and she probably wont finish off at the primary school now before “big” school. She is such a love and I just want to cuddle her. There will be time in the future. So I am making some patchwork cushions for my 3 grand daughters bedrooms covered in lovely little designs. Not sure what to make my grand son yet as he is 14.
Scary times but we will get through this.
Sending love and hugs to all my lovely friends on this brilliant site!

Feelingmyage55 Sun 29-Mar-20 11:55:22

Good morning just in time. Too cold to be out today so might start to watch a box set as BBC seem to have added some retro items that I will enjoy. Waved to a neighbour’s children yesterday. They looked very happy building a den in the garden and were well wrapped up, then I saw mum bring them out drinks and a snack and having a mini picnic. The birds are very noisy and I can hear them so clearly because of the traffic. A special good morning to whywhywhy. Thank you for the daffodils marydoll

moggie57 Sun 29-Mar-20 12:05:45
