Family What’sApp group have been debating this all day with several different answers! Any takers?

gillybob Sun 29-Mar-20 16:21:20

Can’t be 40 as there’s only one zip/sausage or whatever it is ?

Callistemon Sun 29-Mar-20 16:19:38

48?
Using the BODMAS rule

Whitewavemark2 Sun 29-Mar-20 16:19:14

Let’s go with 40 that seems the most popular

GracesGranMK3 Sun 29-Mar-20 16:17:55

40.

3 pairs of trainers added together equal 30, one pair equals 10

2 men + 1 trainers equal 20. Trainers equal 10.
20-10= 10 divided by 2 (men) therefore 1 man = 5

2 zips? + 1 man = 13 Man equals 5 therefore 2 zips equal 13 - 5 = 8 therefore zips = 4

(1/2 a pair of trainers) = 5 + (man) 5 x (zip) 4 = 40

I think!

So are we counting wristbands on the last one or not?

Whitewavemark2 Sun 29-Mar-20 16:14:52

I’m beginning to lose the will to live here

5+5+3+10x1and 1/2=34.5

Juliet27 Sun 29-Mar-20 16:14:35

My third attempt - 20

Grannmarie Sun 29-Mar-20 16:13:39

I agree with that, only the poles look like wrist straps?

gillybob Sun 29-Mar-20 16:13:15

Surely It’s got to be 20 ? confused

Marydoll Sun 29-Mar-20 16:12:33

Oh , I couldn't see that, GM, it's so tiny on my phone.
back to the drawing board!
I need paper! ?

gardener44 Sun 29-Mar-20 16:11:41

Last row,
1 shoe =5, 1 man=5, wearing wristbands = 4,wearing shoes =10
x 2 = 48 ???

Marydoll Sun 29-Mar-20 16:10:32

I've just said that, Granmarie, we must have crossed posts.

6 shoes = 30, so 1 shoe = 5

20- 2 men = 10, so 1 man = 5

13 - 1 man = 8, so 4 poles = 8, so 1 pole = 2

Grannmarie Sun 29-Mar-20 16:09:54

Watch out for his wrists and feet in row 4.

Elderflower2 Sun 29-Mar-20 16:07:47

40

ValerieF Sun 29-Mar-20 16:07:38

40 then?

ValerieF Sun 29-Mar-20 16:07:13

oh yes....right only ONE SHOE ...very clever x

Grannmarie Sun 29-Mar-20 16:06:58

Sorry, Marydoll, didn't see your explanation of row1, I've been popping in and out!

Elderflower2 Sun 29-Mar-20 16:06:41

60?

Grannmarie Sun 29-Mar-20 16:05:10

Look at row 1.
There are 6 shoes in total and they equal 30.
So, 30÷6= the value of one shoe.
Hope this helpssmile

gillybob Sun 29-Mar-20 16:05:03

20?

MiniMoon Sun 29-Mar-20 16:04:54

Man = 5
Shoe = 5 × 3 = 15
Wrist straps = 2 × 3 = 6
Answer 5 + 15 + 6 = 26 (or it was when I went to school)

But the way they calculate maths in schools these days the answer could be anything you want it to be!

Marydoll Sun 29-Mar-20 16:04:42

6 shoes = 30, so 1 shoe must equal 5

Whitewavemark2 Sun 29-Mar-20 16:04:33

Does anyone have the definitive answer?

Marmight Sun 29-Mar-20 16:03:59

20

Marydoll Sun 29-Mar-20 16:03:26

(5+5) x 2 = 20
