Conspiracy Theories

During this worrying time a number of conspiracy theories are emerging so which ones, if any, do you believe? Some I have heard are:

The virus has been manufactured and released

By China (for what reason is unclear)

By a group of businessmen wanting to take over the world

By a mad billionare who wants to infect as many people as possible and then sell the cure and make a fortune

By various governments who will eventually state everyone has to have a chip inserted under their skin which will enable them to control and enslave us

Peardrop50 name one good invention that came out of giving time to a conspiracy theory! Good on you *vampirequeen”. It would be harmless idle chatter if it wasn’t dangerous rubbish.

It was created and released by overpopulated countries to help reduce the numbers of bed blockers, create spaces in care homes and obviously reduce the state pension claimants.

Oh please conspiracy theorists get a grip. Love the spoof ones but those of you spouting your crackpot conspiracies, please don't.

quizequeen … Bats are mammals and live in large social groups, like us. They carry this virus but are immune.

Most Bat colonies live in caves, which are inaccessible for the most part to human activity, hence no cross infection.

The similarities between us and Bats (yes!) means with a few mutations the virus has got a foot hold.

According to lots of scientific research out there, its accepted that Bats are the source.

The link to Pangolins has been put forward but not yet completely endorsed.

Whether accidental infection of differing species in Wuh Han markets.

Or accidental/purposeful infection in laboratory,
then accidental/purposeful escape/release of virus, is where the conspiracy theories begin.

Take your pick.

It begins and ends in China, but our lack of interest in preventative research into virus contagion in general, is why we are playing catch up.

Basically we have been complacent since the 1918 Spanish flu pandemic.

BTW ...anyone heard the conspiracy theory that the Spanish flu (1918 and nothing to do with Spain) was started in America by an infected eastern European man sent to bring the USA to its knees?

Daisymae Fri 03-Apr-20 15:45:10

I heard that the US and China fell out over the trade deal. China released the virus, to teach Trump a lesson. China then buys up vast amount of stocks and shares at bargain prices so becoming the leading world power.

Or

It's part of a global take over that's to do with 5g, there's no virus just radiation poisoning. There's going to be a single world currency, we are going to be chipped via the testing program.

You pays your money and takes your choice

Gosh, you are busy Onelife, looking after a huge number of elderly people.

Have you got a " thing" about bottoms? You keep telling us to get off them.

GrannyGravy13 Fri 03-Apr-20 15:35:20

I am enjoying this thread as it is totally tongue-in-cheek and any levity at this moment in time is appreciated by me ?

Onelifeletsliveit Fri 03-Apr-20 15:34:04

Gagajo. I doubt that very much. Stop scare mongering. I’m looking after huge numbers of the elderly who are very frightened, they don’t need this “fun” that you seem to be engaging in. Go get a meaningful hobby or get off your arse and get volunteering like me.

GagaJo Fri 03-Apr-20 15:30:29

My paper of choice, Onelifeletsliveit, is The Guardian. So hoof off with your judgemental bulls**t.

This is idle chatter while in lockdown.

Onelifeletsliveit Fri 03-Apr-20 15:27:25

Why on earth are you guys going on about conspiracy theories, stop reading the Sun, the Mirror and the Daily Mail and pick up a couple of broadsheets. There really are enough genuinely frightened people out there (I am mentoring some) the last thing they need is talk such as this. One lady I look after was told by a friend that the virus was airborne and that if she left the house she’d die. I’ve literally had to spend hours on the phone with her explaining the biology and physics, trying to calm her down. Please guys stop this chat, you really will cause the anxiety of others to deeply worsen.

I hope China puts a huge paw, down on the wet markets,it has the power and stops them dead.
There has been Mers, then Sars, now Covid. When this is all over,we must not all just start off again, waiting for the next one.

Nannan2 Fri 03-Apr-20 14:51:59

Let us know if Larry is sucessful & we'l all sue them...?

Nannan2 Fri 03-Apr-20 14:46:17

Yes we know that Firecracker123,but its like they wouldnt do it on their own doorstep, would they?..

Nannan2 Fri 03-Apr-20 14:44:36

You have the means of a good book there Vampirequeen,..get writing while the lockdowns on...

Firecracker123 Fri 03-Apr-20 14:43:09

Whether the Chinese did this deliberately or not who knows, but the facts are that the virus originated from Wuhan market.

Nannan2 Fri 03-Apr-20 14:41:35

Yes i could believe its a biological weapon...not from the chinese though...

Firecracker123 Fri 03-Apr-20 14:39:57

Eerh I'm posting Conspiracy Theories on a Conspiracy Thread on a grannies forum lol.

Nannan2 Fri 03-Apr-20 14:39:46

The chinese would NOT start it in their own 'back garden' so to speak,so NOT them..

GagaJo Fri 03-Apr-20 14:38:42

I think it's a possibility FC. The extension of that myth/thought is that it came out of a Canadian lab, was stolen by Chinese agents, who were then expelled from Canada for espionage.

Nannan2 Fri 03-Apr-20 14:38:24

In which case,i wish mad man would hurry up & start selling us the cure...angry

Nannan2 Fri 03-Apr-20 14:37:27

Number one sounds plausible, but probably,Russia,as not much in their death toll....or yes, possibly North korea...number 4 also plausible....?

vampirequeen Fri 03-Apr-20 14:35:12

Larry Klayman is a serial litigant. He's sued everyone from Obama to his own mother. Are you really putting him forward as a reason to believe the Chinese did it?

Bluecat Fri 03-Apr-20 14:31:56

I like a good conspiracy theory, they are usually amusing. Depressing, though, to see that the far right is back on its old ground, blaming the Jews. Apparently it is all part of a plot by billionaire communist (?) Jews to take over the world. George Soros is singled out for particular attention.

We are still one step away from "they're poisoning the wells". I despair.

Firecracker123 Fri 03-Apr-20 14:28:47

He's filed a 20 trillion dollar suit against China for Coronavirus.

Firecracker123 Fri 03-Apr-20 14:26:07

Well lawyer Larry Klayman thinks it was deliberate

Conservative lawyer Larry Klayman filed a class action suit again China. He claimed that the Chinese government developed coronavirus as a biological weapon.
