Good Morning Everyone,

Good morning from grey, overcast Essex. I am smiling as managed to get home delivery from Iceland for today AND Tesco for 23rd so that should see me right for a while! My son will always drop off anything else I need so shouldn't fade away! A friend sent me a funny joke yesterday about wearing a "swimsuit instead of pyjamas" during this as we won't know how tight our clothes will be when we all come out!
Also had unsettling news of a friend's 94 year old mum admitted to hospital from a care home. Fearing the worst, when she got through to the hospital her mum had been discharged!!
Going to fancy dress for Joe's workout this morning and sing my heart out with Gareth this evening for all those troubled or worried xxxx

Good morning all from Glasgow, it looks as if it has been raining, but a little shaft of sunlight has been poking through.

I have lost track of the days, totally, I think I may becoming institutionalised and never want to leave this stress free haven?
I have no problems keeping busy, with no responsibilities, I'm actually enjoying it.

While DH cuts the grass, I shall bake. He is complaining the tins are empty. Iced gingerbread with sultanas is his favourite, so I think that's what I'll make. He has been a good boy.
Ginger, it does sound as if you didn't use enough icing sugar. The fondant has to be really stiff.

As I'm on the shielding list,. I have managed to secure an Iceland delivery slot, thanks to a heads up from a lovely gransnetter yesterday yesterday for today. I couldn't believe how lucky I was.
Dragonfly, I'm still trying to sort the Sainsbury's one out, thanks for the Tel number.

To keep my little brainteaser thread going, I will have to search my old maths folders on my PC for tricky ones. That will keep me busy and out of trouble.?
There are some very smart Gransnetters out there. Gilly, I'm talking about you! ?

We saw DGD briefly yesterday, when DIL brought down a few things. She was strapped into her car seat, or she would have legged it straight into our house. It was a little ray of sunshine in all this sorrow. ?
We miss her wicked sense of humour so much.

Most of our cul de sac were out clapping last night. It was great to see everyone, as the majority are elderly and stuck in. I cannot stress how wonderful the NHS are. I have had three phone calls from different depts this week alone, checking up on me.

It's lovely to see so many new posters on this thread, so welcome.
Grammaretto, you need to see about that abcess ASAP! That's an order, especially in during this crisis in case it gets worse and you can't access help. Nip it in the bud.

Blue Sapphire, as I'm no longer allowed alcohol, you can have this from my redundant stash. ? It's already chilled.

Take care all.

Good morning from an overcast Kent.
I had a call yesterday to say not to attend my appointment at the hospital on Monday and that the consultant will ring me. Phew, that's a relief. I really didn't want to attend.
Take care everyone.
Bluesapphire thanks
flowers for all those with troubles or ills.

Good Morning All x
Weather can't make up its mind, a bit on the dull side with the odd brightness showing through now and again but it doesn't feel too cold. A better day coming on Sunday ? We'll see.

I wondered what day it was when I woke up then heard the bin wagon in the distance. Shouted a thankyou through the back kitchen window.
Nobody out clapping here last night, you could have heard a pin drop until someone set fireworks off which thankfully broke the silence. I was indoors doing my bit and frightening the cats in the process.

If the locals did but know it, there are no cases of the virus in our particular part of Wirral. There's a daily update online, so all the more reason that everyone should have been on their feet. We are an area of 59,000 people.

I've been singing that little song--" I'm busy doing nothing--trying to find lots of things not to do---.
I'm itching to do a good shop though so I'll see what next week brings as the fridge is nearly running on empty and the freezer's looking more sparse than it did as it's now nearly 5 weeks since my last visit to Asda.

I hope everyone is keeping well and not missing families too much as these really are difficult times. Stay safe and well xx

Good morning from the Shropshire borders where we have another dull but dry start.
We went out to join in the applause for keyworkers,4 out of eleven joined in in our small close. One neighbour came out to ask what all the noise was?DD2 was arriving home from work at 8pm,she said it was like coming home to a standing ovation?
We should be setting off on a tour of Belgium and Holland today instead we are awaiting the Asda delivery although that is quite an exciting event!
After the goats in Llandudno,DD2 has seen deer on their housing estate on the edge of Stafford.
Welcome to Anne and Netty??
Blue Sapphire?
Thinking of all having wobbles,I seem to have one each day,am going to alter my routine as Urmston suggested and see if it helps. My worry is for my children and grandchildren which is I’m sure the same for us all.Our baby grandson who is 6 months is having a lot of reactions to anything he eats,Drs have been great but all consultations online with DD sending photos then dr calling back. The only things he hasn’t reacted to so far are baby rice and broccoli?
Sorry for rambling.Have the best day you can everyone and stay safe.x

Good Morning Mick and all from a dry and chilly S Welsh coast, well it feels chilly haven't actually got out of bed yet.
We went out on our drive for the NHS clapping last night and more neighbours were out.
Welcome to Anne9054 and Netty.
A poignant day for you BlueSapphire ?
Been busy the last couple of days so will take it easier today. I know what you mean about these poignant stories Urmston but sadly there is nothing we can do is there. Glad the sun is shining for you today.
Hope that we all have something to cheer us today however small.

Mapleleaf Fri 03-Apr-20 08:26:20

Oh, forgot to say “welcome* to both Netty and Anne9054. ?

Mapleleaf Fri 03-Apr-20 08:18:15

Good morning all,

Another grey and dull looking morning. It got very cold last night, too. Supposed to warm up considerably by Sunday. We’ll see. If it does, I hope those who flocked to the seaside and countryside two weeks ago use more common sense this time, though they may be in for a shock if they try, as I suspect the police will be about in greater numbers.

Grammaretto, I received an email from my dentist yesterday which suggested contacting your surgery if you had facial swelling, especially if it was extending to eye or neck. For mouth pain, they were suggesting you take paracetamol in the first instance, if this is suitable for you and/or ibuprofen if you can take it - they say there is no strong evidence that taking ibuprofen can make COVID-19 worse.
If you are at all unsure, call your surgery for advice.

? BlueSapphire - a poignant day for you.

Heard the odd firework last night, but no clapping.

Take care everyone.

Good morning everyone from East London , a grey day hope the sun pops out later it makes me feel so much better. Both daughter and son and their families did “front gate” visits yesterday , I’m lucky they live near enough and they can visit sometimes on their exercise trip . Miss all their hugs though . Going to brave it and start on late DH’s piles of paper work today in his study, just a little each day I think .DH was a great “belt and braces” man , he printed most of his letters and papers he wrote !
I will get back into the garden if it warms up a bit , it has been so neglected over the past year or so .

Urmstongran Fri 03-Apr-20 08:14:30

Thanks GG13 I woke at 5am and couldn’t get back off to sleep as my mind was skittering about.

Hello to you Anne9054 it’s lovely to have newbies join us ?
You too Netty ?

cornergran Fri 03-Apr-20 08:11:10

Morning Mick, morning All from a cloudy corner of Somerset. A few weeks ago we wanted the rain to stop, now the garden would love some. Never satisfied. The gloss paint will be finished today, hooray. I’ve got two leather sofas to clean and re-treat and some soup to make. A walk this afternoon and before we know it the day has gone. Do phone the dentist grammaretto, better to be safe. Will raise a glass to you this evening bluesaphire as you recall those happy times. Hello anne9054, good to see you. Be gentle with yourselves everyone, stay safe.

Brunette10 Fri 03-Apr-20 08:07:55

Good Morning from Fife. It's lovely and bright outside but not opened the door yet but sure to be chilly. However as we all probably know it's to warm up for the weekend, can't wait. BlueSapphire - thinking of you, enjoy your Prosecco flowers. Welcome Anne9054 hope you enjoy this thread, it's very gentle. Grammaretto - oh I do feel for you, hope it doesn't cause too much discomfort. Not sure what plans are for today but will find something to do even if it's just walking around the garden. Joined everyone last night at 8 pm. how wonderful for all those out there doing a marvellous job. Look after yourselves everyone, take care but most of all stay safe.

Scentia Fri 03-Apr-20 08:07:39

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire, the sky looks grey but I have put a load of washing on to peg out so it mustn’t rain!
‘Working’ from home today with DH
I really need to do a shop today, we have no fresh food at all, I don’t drink milk but DH said the milk we have is ‘off’ I cannot get skimmed milk anywhere so he is having to have the semi skimmed ‘creamy’ stuff!!!
I will take the pooch on a bike ride this morning, we are building up our distance each day and by the end of all this we will be going miles, and not just round and round the park!
Stay safe everyone❤️

Gingster Fri 03-Apr-20 08:00:38

Good morning all. A calm start here in the Suffolk coast. We clapped with our neighbour last night. There are only 3 of us here and the others didn’t join us. But the resident bat flew around us .Quite a muted affair but a lovely thing to do. I made a loaf of bread and some rolls yesterday. I thought they turned out ok but DH said they’re a bit ‘dense’ . Oh well ! MARYDOLL - I made the macaroon bars and what a sticky mess I got into ?. I don’t think I added enough icing sugar and the fondant didn’t really set. I turned them into sort of bonbons. ??. I sent the recipe to my gd’s and hope they make a better job if it. My baking skills are always a bit hit and miss, but I really enjoy having a go. Going to give the little pooch a pamper this morning as she had to miss her grooming session last week. She’s a cockerpoo and gets very curly wurly so I’ll bath her and give her a good brush when she’s dried off. I’ll trim around her little cute face but won’t do the claw clipping. I tried that and I was scared I’d hurt her I haven’t tried again. Any tips on that? Have a gentle day and hope your face get better soon Gramaretto. That sounds painful. ? ?

GrannyGravy13 Fri 03-Apr-20 08:00:07

Urmstongran flowers keep safe

Grammaretto ring your dentist, they will advise you what to do

Welcome Anne9054 we are a friendly bunch

NfkDumpling Fri 03-Apr-20 07:58:30

Morning All

Its bright and sunny with dark cloudy bits here in the north of Norfolk this morning.

I nearly missed the eight o'clock clapping as I was "blathering on" (as she put it) to DD1 on the phone. They have apparently been quite ill for the last week with what now appears to be The Virus - and hadn't told me! Not sure if I should be hurt that they hadn't said anything, relieved they're coming out the other side, or happy that they've (hopefully) had it and are now relatively protected!

The thrills of ironing is the high point of today.

Stay safe everyone.

Netty47 Fri 03-Apr-20 07:58:15

Good morning to all you lovely people, been reading your
thread since my DH died in January and have found great
comfort in reading what you are all getting up to each day.
BlueSapphire am thinking of you and share your sadness and pain on your anniversary , Im going to look up the silver line
ballet class I’ll enjoy that. I’ve always been a very early bird
but here I am sitting in bed at nearly 8.00 must get up as DG
constantly FaceTiming to see if granny is ok can’t let them see
me in bed can I ? Have a good day to all and stay safe .
Thinking of all that are sad poorly or lonely .

LullyDully Fri 03-Apr-20 07:57:32

Good morning from Hampshire I hope all is well with you. We had a welcome drop of rain over night and it looks like the sun may break through the clouds. As we have a relaxed cup of tea in bed I can see an empty bus going by....8.00am who would have thought? Bye.

Grammaretto Fri 03-Apr-20 07:57:13

Thanks lovely people. My jaw is swollen but, touch wood, no pain. Is it the time for home made remedies?

Urmstongran Fri 03-Apr-20 07:56:57

Good morning everyone from sunny Malaga. Such a difference in the weather today.

It’s Day 20 out of 29 of our lockdown.

I think I shall avoid reading any personal stories today from those whose lives have been affected by the virus as they are too upsetting and leave me anxious.

A sad day for you BlueSapphire but I hope as you sip your Prosecco you will have many happy memories to recall.

Hope Friday is good to us. Keep safe everyone. x

harrigran Fri 03-Apr-20 07:54:27

Good morning from a sunny NE.
DH went to collect his prescription, it is done electronically to the pharmacy but has still taken two weeks to process. This is ridiculous, the pharmacy is underneath the GP surgery, going to change to one closer to home.
My sister rang from abroad where she continues to deny the severity of the situation and her life seems to continue as normal.
We will have roast beef for lunch today and open a bottle of decent wine, well it is Friday.
Take care everyone.

Annapops Fri 03-Apr-20 07:53:37

Good morning all from County Durham. It's looking dry and grey but no wind today.

DH away to do a small essential shop while I contemplate the order of the day. I will probably resume Spring cleaning as not much of that was done yesterday.

My DD told me about her important video conference yesterday when three year old GD yelled out for all to hear from the bathroom, "Mammy I've had a poo!" The joy of working from home, but it certainly made my day.

I hope something comes along to make each and everyone of you smile today.

Ginny42 Fri 03-Apr-20 07:49:16

Good morning Mick and everyone from a bright morning in Cheshire. Some cloud around but plenty of blue. Looking forward to the warm weather promised.

Last night far more people came out to applaud the brave workers on the front line. It made me realise there's a battle going on out there whilst I'm secure in my home. God bless them all.

I have a Zoom session to set up for friends today. I'll get my head round that when I get back from my walk in the woods. That sets me up for the day. A neighbour is topping up my food cupboard today as I must wait for over a month for a delivery slot.

Gramarretto if it's swollen you need to get to a dentist. I'm rinsing with salt water to try to prevent something in my gum developing into an abscess. Take care.

This will be a poignant day for you BlueSapphire. Enjoy the prosecco. flowers

Take care everyone. flowers for all.
